  • Steve Winwood must be one of the most underrated artists of the 80's. Much of his material didn't seem to get the recognition, in terms of top hit status, that he probably deserved. With his strong, rich voice, he has produced a piece of brilliance here, and it took those god-awful remixes to make it even more appealling to the masses.......actually those remixes ain't too bad, they sound kinda nice..!!!!!

  • One of the best songs of the 80's :)

  • yeaaa i only the chorus lol

  • Conan O'Brien?

  • Why do we love this song?

I think it simply touch our hearts in a pure musical way!

  • 名曲です

  • I dont hear the LMFAO..

  • This is one of the best (my favorite) songs from the 80s. It makes me feel so free and glad to be alive. ... :)

  • CALL ON MEEEEEE everyday I'm shuffilin, CALL ON MEEEE

  • LMAFO Party Rock Anthem..root song right here. Everyday I'm shuffilin'

  • @dbc400 Not only. Call on Me by Eric Prydz uses samples from this too!

  • I wish i could use my time machine....

  • Though I really like all former Cream members, Eric Clapton is my favorite, but this is one of my favorite three songs from either artist. This song makes me so happy ... :)

  • @777butch777 Steve Winwood wasn't in Cream. You're thinking of Blind Faith.

  • @babytyrone I was not thinking of Blind Faith, though he was in that group too. I was thiniking of Traffic. As he definitely was not part of Cream. My mistake.

  • The Voice

  • Gee, I hope Winwood got royalties! What a rip job for sure...techno rip off.

  • mmmm this song made my day.

  • Well... that's different Matty ^^"

  • Both version are simply amazing.

  • The new Rickroll?

  • OH GOD WHY!

  • lol nice matty

  • REALLY MATTY?

  • yo dj mike switch brought me to this shitty song

  • F A.W.

  • Steve Winwood here looks way too much like Conan O'Brien...great song.

  • Aaaah standard 240p gotta love it . i said aaaah!

  • LOVE it and always have!, then again, it's my Name!!! hagn all xoxo

  • Conan O'Brian should have kept singing he was great!

  • I don't know why I prefer the Eric Prydz video.

  • if this song was released 10 years later it would have been MASSIVE!

  • after seeing the Eric Prydz version, it's starting to make sense

  • the re mix is well better lol

  • This song rocked in 1982 and the re-mix 5 years later was even better!

  • He is like Dirty Harry...

  • Erick Prydz brought me here

  • The early 80's were worth something, as a bleed from the late 70's. Shame about a lot of the later decade.

  • @FederersL1ama Damn true... The most pitiful part of your accurate point, is that even major artists from the 60-70's era got the eigthties sound flu. Crap synth sounds which sounded like a toy. Winwood's case on this vid is NOT an example, It still sounds magic, and brings me back to my childhood. But sytnth sound from the mid 80's onwards were just insufferable...

  • Can't get enough of this song. Synth solo is just mind blowing.

  • @Musix5000 Strange. I liked this version, not the remix.

  • Unlike most people, I like to slay zombies to this rather than Disturbed. :)

  • what a difference from trafic to this no guitars

  • what a difference from trafic to this no guitars

  • Steve Winwood was very underestimated in the early eighties but his first solo albums, especially Arc of a diver, are masterpieces. He's the perfect musician , not only has he got a powerful voice, but he can play all sorts of different instruments. surely he's got music running in his veins instead of blood. Don't know why Valerie wasn't successful; maybe people were distracted by Boney M

  • The chorus is the best part... I wish someone would just take the chorus, add a catchy background beat, and put it to a suggestive aerobics video...

  • @AkakuBen I found EXACTLY what you are looking for

  • @AkakuBen LOL! Gee that would be a great idea. Maybe this aerobics video should have a room full of half naked ladies with only one guy.

  • @AkakuBen Check out "Eric Prydz - Call On Me". You're Welcome. =)

  • @AkakuBen Then remix that into a song about parties and rock even though it ISN'T ROCK MUSIC.

  • @AkakuBen AVICII -Levels

  • Thanks so much for uploading this beautiful uplifting fabulous song.. Love Steve and all his music..a genius.. he had to be born singing and playing music..♥

  • Fantastic!

  • Ok, Uhh SO like, WHO is VALERIE?? (LOL)

  • @Getrealpeeps Valerie was a real person. She was a acquaintance and friend to Winwood and the song lyricists Will Jennings. She was a singer and on top of the world before she got caught in a drug addiction. Winwood was tired of what drug abuse were doing to people around him so the song was written as a tribute to her... to plead to her to seek help. Thus, the line "Call on me" . She never did sadly.

  • he looks so young here. Great voice. Saw him most recently on TV, "Crossroads Guitar Festival."

  • I don't mind this song, but thanks to Eric Prydz every time I hear this song I think about gratuitous asses. And that is ok with me.

  • Henry Boot likes this!

  • Only one guy plays the synths like that.

  • Man. It sure was drafty in the 80s. No wonder everyone walked around with sex hair all day.

  • @jamisonlikepancake Best comment about the 80's

  • Howcome it only made #70? daz terrible.

Definitely cudh've been in the top 10

  • I like this song but wow the whiteness is leaking through my cpu as we speak

  • 54 people don't know who Valerie is.

  • genius,that is all

  • Call on me is just one part of this song played over and over.

  • @SaltySangster it's called a sample..

  • @HIHNickel than kyou for tellign me tht.

  • this is the genius behing many trance and house songs today. if only he was born into this generation, he'd be huge!

  • I struggle not to ejaculate at 2:42

So good, it just catches you at the peak

  • First few bars sound almost identical to Billy Joel's 'My Life'

  • @cmm97215 yer i know what you mean

  • Valerie-->Call On Me-->Party Rock Anthem

  • @kevin4peace I'm tellin you!!!!! People say it's "tainted love" but I'm hearin Valeerrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiieeeeeee!

  • The featured video = Why Girls Don't Fart

  • he stole call on me what a dick

  • @thefamilyk lulz

  • One of the first girls that I liked in grade school (5th grade) is named Valerie.

I never had the guts/cahonas to tell her how I felt. She went on to high school with me and I usually enjoy running into at high school reunions. I chatted with her on Facebook once a few years ago (age 52) and told her how I felt about her when I was 10.

Always regretted not telling her..no telling what could have happened!

  • Cant you fuckfaces see the title says Steve Winwood.....He was out way before Conan O'Brian. you rejects.

  • COOL One Million People have viewed this!! I LOOOOOOVE THIS SONG! (54 people need to RECKOGNIZE)

  • He also looks like Ben Cross. (Chariots of Fire).

  • He looks like a slender Conan O'Brian. Anyways, love this song! Having an 80s party in a few months and this will be on my playlist for sure.

  • He's the same boy he used to be!!!

  • It's interesting how with a lot of 80's music, just like with Whitesnake,

there was a pretty big shift and difference between 1982 and 1987, like totally two different tempos and sounds in music. For instance, I was mentioning Whitesnake sounding totally different in 1982, compared to 1987, same as this Steve Winwood's 1982 version of "Valerie" sounding totally different here, then in 1987.

  • @Pavletic111 The Difference is that before 1983 most music had limited quality before the "digital revolution" with cd's and all in late 1982

  • @Pavletic111 I know what you mean. Similar is the difference between the 1989 version of the song "Send Me an Angel" by Real Life compared to the original 1983 version of that song.

  • Insane effects!

  • god i love call on me:D but nothing beats the original:D i LOOOOVE the 80s:D

  • This is the best version.

  • OMG! I used to listen to Steve Winwood way back then. Was a huge fan and still am. Steve, you rock! You're the best!

  • @johnlivia6061

    it's a nickname...wow took me 2 years to respond.. o.O

  • i just listened to this ~10x in a row.. the soul orgasm happens at 1:02 aaaahhhhhh there are no words to describe it. im speechless. one of the best song choruses ever in the history of music.

  • siempre quise saber como se llamaba esta cancion es magnifica

  • 1:04 - There´s the epic sample of "Call On Me".

  • @EseWolf29 No, you're talking about 1:07

  • Both versions of the song are good in different ways. I wouldn't even call Call On Me a version of the song; it's just a house track that samples this song. Also, fun fact: Steve Winwood actually liked the idea for Call On Me so much that he re-recorded the sample specifically for Together to use. [Together made the original version of Call On Me, NOT Eric Prydz.]

  • The eighties had a mysterious magic that could not be figured out even by now

  • @italpe1 one would have wonder from what world did this music come from? and who brought it here?

  • @italpe1 one would have wonder from what world did this 80s music come from? and who brought it here?

  • original songs are the best and that's that. <3

  • @brakjart listen toa-ha's "lesson one" and you may revise that statement

  • @brakjart Few songs you hear are the original version. I guarantee that Steve Winwood rewrote and remixed this song a hundred times before coming up with this version. Not to mention covers like All Along the Watchtower which Jimi Hendrix did such a good job on that Dylan said it was Jimi's song now. But I agree that the remix of this song isn't as good as this version.

  • No te alteres! que lo que quise decir es que la otra es plagioo!!!! la de Steve es la verdadera ! and sorry.......

  • I'm here for Steve Winwood! XP

Everything he does is just awesome.

I love this one and his collab with Claption (Can't Find My Way Home) the best.

  • He should have had more of the hot video babe and less of him standing in front of a fan

  • I like both versions, but I admit the remix version has more power to it, and much more bass which I like. The synth solo stand out more in this version though.

  • Epicness begins at 2:41

  • that is one bitchin synth solo

  • This sampled by eric prydz - call on me

  • Conan Obrien!!

  • @canefan17 That was my first thought!

  • @canefan17 ROFLMAO, YA THINK?, GOOD ONE!!

  • @canefan17 TOTALLY thought it was Coco for a hot minute!

  • went to see him in dublin a few months ago just after my 18th bday, his voice is getting better as he ages... Steve <3

  • Comment removed

  • Haha wow, I get this song sung to me all the time. My name is valarie. <3.

  • Cool! I haven't seen/heard this in ages!

  • Call On Meeeee

    Call On Meeeee

    Call On Meeeee

  • @locurita21 Plagioooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The BEST version, in my opinion. It's funny how this song, when originally released, didn't fair all that well here in the states.

  • Nice vocal!

  • This song feels like it is missing something. The 1987 remix has a much fuller sound.

  • @ATPhil "fuller" is relative. the 1987 sounds smashed and shrill to me, but made for the better "radio" sound.

  • ..what a relieve compared to the eric prydze version....what a class song....originals always have the ingredients......ya mon.....hahaha....

  • Steve Winwood was awesome when I seen at Brisabane Entertainment centre all thos years ago....But still love Amy...

  • This is awful. Why Stevie, for the love of god, why?

  • LOL NES solo. this is still a great song 30 years later.

  • my name is valerie :)

  • This and so many other hits from the 80's are awesome. Wish i knew a girl by the name of Valerie. It does sound a little like an NES solo, from something like Mike Tyson's Punch Out or taken from Marble Madness a little. lol Either way, it's good to listen to this song.

  • Note to the 54: Where's your video, music career-songwriter-musician-singer-entertainer-genius? Nowhere? Thought so.

  • Am I the only person on Gods earth who thinks amy winehouse is as talented as a cassette left on the dashboard of your car in the Fla sunshine???.........mind being an addict takes some snap!.....

  • Everything Steve Winwood touched turned into gold

  • @AirSasquatch YEP :)

  • @AirSasquatch Actually, this version flopped in 1982. It was remixed and re-released in 1987 and hit then.

  • I think that 54 people followed a different boy.

  • is this another kind of rick rolled?

  • @Rozerton

    No this a Steve Smashed.

  • 54 people make it proof positive that buzzards really don't have have anything going for them except to eat dead stuff.

  • Love it!

  • ERIC PRYDZ TURNED THIS TO GOLD

  • @aoiamyyy eric prydz making something to gold???? jajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja

  • much better and cleaner than the overproduced remix from 1987. Aces.

  • call on me call me!

  • Amo esta canción... Valerie call on me, please. ;))

  • WHAT A SONG, Valerieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    GO STEVE GO !

  • If you like this, you'll enjoy more from "Grocery Store Rock" from Time/Life!

  • @CinemaBiohazard LMAO. You deserve the internet for that comment.

  • makes me feel young again.....Love it !

  • @vermillionsands- excellent

  • yeah this is not the sexiest video of all time..... unlike Eric Prydz!

  • LOL my name is valerie!

  • @valerushky valerie's a slut's name

  • @Shenanigans444 ... and you are a primetime A-1 idiot.

  • Who knew Conan O'Brien could sing too? :)

  • @MonsterJam187 I was thinking the exact same thing lmao

  • @MonsterJam187 Well at least Steve didn't get kicked out of Tonight Show for lack of audience/viewers.

  • 54 people got it wrong! Well that's what brick walls are for!

  • @cadwithoutend

That took me a moments, haha!

  • shity greenscreen attempt lol

  • This song would be so much more epic without the cheezy keyboard solo

  • @damaband41 Fuck off, it's a classic.

  • @JayThrilla25 Did I ever say it wasn't? I called it "epic". Some people seem like they're born to be morons. Dumbass.

  • @damaband41 Oh that's funny, ur gonna look even funnier suckin on my dick with no teeth

  • @JayThrilla25 What?

  • @damaband41 & JayThrilla25

Yall know you cool if you found your way here. Think about it. There must be Higher Love.

  • @damaband41 you heard me
