What has gotten lost in all this "who's a Nazi" silliness, and txgirl almost touched on a while back, is that NAFTA victimizes workers everywhere. It is intentionally structured to force poor workers, who would starve waiting for "legit" work visas, to sneak across the border. Without legal status, they are an exploitable, disposable cheap labor force and a weapon for employers to fight unions and depress wages. They aren't the problem.

Freedom of speech is guaranteed under the first amendment! It doesn't surprise me in the least that these people would equate the Constitution with toilet paper. To be fair, we do need to monitor and have control over who comes across our borders. Even Disneyland has a fence. However, demonizing Hispanic people for trying to escape poverty is not going to help anything. Calderon is doing what he can, but our government needs to use foreign policies that don't harm other countries' economies by allowing big business to exploit their labor and resources. Actually, if you're going to give an accurate description of what illegal immigrants cost America, you need to also include what they contribute to the economy as well. And not just the immigrants themselves, but also their second and third generation descendants who are here working and paying taxes because of their decision to immigrate to the US.

And breaking immigration laws does not justify treating someone inhumanely. I thought our "national identity" had already been established by the phrase "E pluribus unum" which means "out of many, one." Our immigrant ancestors came here to escape persecution and poverty.
