  • Can anybody in Jakarta teach me how to dance this version of Teruna Jaya? I just need to dance the first 3 minutes moves (2:18 to 5.20).

  • razor sharp movements, with piercing accompaniment. Amazement is the least I can say!

  • This. This is the BEST Teruna Jaya dance vid I've seen uploaded on Youtube. And SO helpful, too! Perfect video for me to re-learn the dance again. I learned it from my sister, who learned it from shadowing the advanced dancers during our breaks, when we were learning Pendet-Tenun. Thank you! This is the dance & music I love the most, too!

  • Beautiful ! Terima Kasih Banyak !

  • this has to be by far my most favourite of all Balinese dances.

  • I love this dance very very much. Still my favorite after Baris dance. Teruna is actually "Single Man" right? BUT why is it performed by women? What I see mostly the Teruna Jaya dancers are women. Why is that? Pleaseeeeee....apload KEBYAR TEROMPONG. I beg you. ;-)

  • Yes, "truna" is a young unmarried man - but women usually dance this because they are thought to be able to capture the "ideal" persona of a young man better than most male dancers, who are considered naturally too "rough" for the demanding role.

  • i uploaded kebyar trompong

  • The music makes me happy. :)

  • Excotic !!!

  • Thanks for uploading it. I am waiting for someone who could put Legong Jobog dance. My favorites of all Balinese dances are all kind of legong. Thanks.

  • i absoluterly enjoy watching the dance the clothes are loverly i absoluterly enjoy it :)

  • Thanks so much for posting the dances! They bring me back to my dancing days...And please keep posting more of them: Oleg Tambulilingan, Kebyar Terompong, Tenun, Baris, Legong Bapang and other contemporary ones.

  • I love this dance so much, thnx for uploading it!!!

  • Yes, I dream of visiting Bali someday. They are so pretty; even the boys are. It's such a beautiful artform they have developed over eons, gives me the essence of a time of simplicity before computers, planes, beaurocrats, and corporate environment pollution. This ancient culture and art gives us a divine feeling of purity and appears to have alot to teach us.

  • although well meaning, do not exoticize this culture with your romantic views. I cant believe people still think like this today. you sound like someone living during colonial times. This is not some kind of museum piece or tradition. Bali is subject to the same global modern current as the rest of the world. And you should really study the meaning behind the dance and dont simply essentialize to some view of the "noble savage"

  • yes, don't romanticize. The balinese are like everyone else, with negative traits, jealousy etc. They love money too.

  • Well said, kumong.

  • i find the balinese culture to be soo intriguing
