9 TIMES?? To my knowlage, Spartacus did defeat the romans in a series of battles but not 9 fucking times, he defeated Glaber and Verinius in 73 bc, he won at Picenum in 72 bc, at Mutina in 72 bc and the 1st Campania battle in 71 bc. The Romans won on Mount Garganus in 72bc although Crixus had 30,000men over the 2 legions of the consuls, Crassus won the 2nd Campania Battle over the Rebels and won the Battle of Silarus River, both in 71bc. At least i believe so..

yeah he was a slave and a raider, big fucking deal. people worship this guy and bitch about christoper columbus, it gets old so fast seeing how people pick and choose their "heroes," none of who were ever near perfect.
@PhilK112 I've spoken to two historians who verified that Spartacus in fact had his own retainer of slaves. Trying to reconcile a historical figure with a character in a television series usually isn't a good idea, dramatic portrayals usually have an agenda...
@Mistermax30 Ywo historians agreeing is rare, thats true. But tell me - how the hell could he AFFORD two slaves for a start, being a mere auxillary - secondly, virtually NOTHING is known of his early life before the slave breakout.
@PhilK112 He probably had far more than two slaves, I'm thinking a fairly large number of them. I am referring to Spartacus on campaign, not to his earlier life as a poor auxiliary. Lots of loot was to be had as his power grew, and it seems as if he wanted a taste of the good life, ie, having plenty of wealth and a few decent slaves...
@Mistermax30 Let's agree to disagree. I find this too silly for words. You are saying he had much more than two slaves, which is akin to saying that Adolf Hitler led a second life as a spy for the allies.
Too daft for words.
The nearest he came was to force some of the Romans he captured to play the part of slaves to show them what its like. Hardly the same thing.
@PhilK112 Think about it. A leader of a huge conglomerate force made out of camp followers, peasants, and ex-gladiators. While they weren't dodging Roman authorities or fighting them, they had countless opportunities to accrue captured wealth. How is it hard to believe that Spartacus wasn't tempted into "living the good life", for the first time in his life, by taking a few slaves for himself, amongst other things...
He should have left his greedy men to fight on their own and gone home, like he wanted to in the beginning. The age old story; greed was their undoing.
who been watching Spartacus blood in sand? :-) Love that show.
