  • i still have my 1993 ascent ex of course DB made MTBS before it also but Ascent Ex 1993 model was the begining of the lightweight/Fast as hell MTBs when i bought it it was 18 speed but if modified could maxout at 20speed Unheard of for that time im thinking about retiring it to a new DB whats its modern Day DB version?

  • @socalkev Mission are great for xcountry.

  • @Surfmus would you recommend this? im looking for a nw DB MTB i had my ascent ex for nearly 20 years its time to Retire it or what MTB are do you recommned?

  • @socalkev It all depends on what kind of riding would you be doing and your level of skills.

  • @socalkev i Have been riding my Ascent ex since i first bought in 93 at that time it was all around hard trail to smooth surface Bike and i was able to do wheelies and tricks on it so im looking for serious riding again since my Drivers license is permanently suspended i have my eyes set on this one or the other repsonse one is 299 at sports chalet and the other is 399 wich would you recommend???? basically i need one that can do trails both Extreme and Easy trails..

  • @socalkev go for the disc brakes one. I only rode this one for 2 months, then I bought an iron horse which I upgraded/custom built it with Shimano xt. Then sold that frame and went back to another iron horse. This DB are solid and for the price are a great mtb at an entry level.

  • the recoil is pretty similar i guess. i have the recoil. the recoil just has the rear suspension setup too. how much is the response?

  • This week, Dick's has the black nice response for $299 the recoil is nice but too heavy. I don't ride this bike, I used it for 2 months, until I custom my iron horse. which is a bad ride. check the stock to custom video of it. Thanks!

  • im geting the sport reponse sport disk bracks its beter and the price is not that much more

  • I used it for two months, then customized my iron horse warrrior 1.3, take a look at that video.

  • sweet man i got the same one and i have a vid about it!

  • How much? I put just 300 miles and sold it. This bike is more urban assault, jump bike oriented, and I'm a xc rider. I had a lot fun, but I buy and sell bikes so normally they last little under my care. I'm currently riding a Custom Built Iron Horse. I left you a similar comment on you vid. Enjoy yout bike.

  • Funny shit, I am going back to diamondback, this time a full suspension Sortie or Mission.

  • I kept the Iron Horse I have in the other video, I can't wait to upgrade to Shimano XT.

  • I sold it for $290 with the cyclocomputer. I will miss this bike a lot. I loved it. Bye Babe. Now I got to get me another one...
