  • I LOVE THE MOODY BLUES SO MUCH. I THINK ABOUT THEM ALL THE TIME. I WONDER WHAT CITY THEY ARE PERFOMING IN. THEY ARE SO UNDERRATED. SOMETIMES I WISHED I LIVED IN ENGLAND THAT IS WHERE THEY ARE REALLY LOVED. DRIFTWOOD, RUNNING WATER, SUVIVAL AND SO MANY MORE AWESOME

  • Hi Locomotion, I loved watching this so much, that i had to come back again tonight, I am just so in awe of it, It has to be the best video I have seen of the Moodies, I was never over rapt in this song, but like you, this is now on the top of my list, the words are just so beautiful, again, thanks so much for the video, its stupendous.. thanks

  • Wonderful voice Justan.

  • Thanks so much for this absoluely fabulous slip, It is amazing, the clarity visuals are brilliant, I adore this song, and it was made extra special by your clip.... Thank you so much

  • @holbillybt Hi i am a great fan of the Moody Blues and this song is my most favorite song of all. I could listen to this song [and the Moody Blues] all day and sometimes i do play this song a lot. Just love. Good to see that you also like it.

  • MOODY BLUES ES UNA HISTORIA DIFERENTE MUY GRATA EN EL MUNDO PROGRESIVO.

  • This features Patrick Moraz? Then, this clip is from 1981,not '78! Moraz was in Yes in '78'not The Moodies! He was hired in the winter of '80.

  • @mrmjb1960 Patrick's only album with Yes was "Relayer" released in 1974. He left Yes in 1976 and moved to Brazil. He joined The Moody Blues for their Octave tour in 1978. Peace.

  • timeless voice, timeless song

  • y did u never come to ireland

  • Justin is one singer who I can listen to for hours on end and never tire of his voice and lyrics. These guys are one helluva band, have loved them since 1966 when I first heard Days of Future Passed

  • I will never leave you driftwood on the shore my true love,,, my soulmate. Please wait for me....love you forever and always.... Angie. K. XXxxXX. Adore this video, Justin looks so very handsome. As he was then... and STILL... remains so to this very day."My Baby Blue Eyes" My angel of the night.... Godbless. I miss you terribly I now know that you live in Lelant St Ives....when in England. Thats where I am heading gorgeous. All my love Angie~~##~~K.

  • A beautiful composition from the moodies, performed immaculately. I prefer the Mike Pinder days when it seemed their music seemed best.

  • @ohmygosh77777 ...The Mike Pinder days were unique for sure but Justin's arrival put a spin on the Moodies music that has made them eternal in rock music. There's is a sound that will endure the annals of time.

  • Y'know, there are people out there that believe Frank Sinatra could sing. Knew zip about JH, did they?

  • hope you sing this one in October in Adelaide Justin xx

  • I love the funny story told by justin about doing a commercial jingle with led zep's jimmy page (before they were famous). it's on youtube under whiskey a go go interview.

  • Justin and John are a sight for sore eyes; a sweet sound for tired ears; a soothing balm for weary souls.

  • Could listen to Justin till the cows come home and then some! One of the most beautiful songs EVER!!!!!!!!

  • One of Pauly Walters' favourites!

  • my favorite song, beautifull.

  • There are lots of individual memorable songs from latter decades, but the REAL truth is-the 60's-70's were the times of proper, not to be forgotten Supergroups.Floyd, Moody's, Led Zep, Beatles, original Fleetwood Mac., ETC. If you would like to hear a great ( I suppose ? ) tribute to the Moody's, listen to Barclay James Harvest sing Poor Mans Moody Blues. Awesome song. I would appreciate your views on this song from another great band of the best era 's of music. Thanks, Take Care Eh?

  • Every song Justin sings is sung with such passion and emotion. It's hard to say which song is his best, but I feel the best song Justin has ever sung is the one he's singing at the moment you're listening to him. The Moodies are #1!

  • Played the heck out of this from Hitbound to heavy airplay for three weeks sadly it never took off,What a shame,What a Fantastic song from The Moodies!

  • Driftwood has always been number 1 in my book!

  • One of my all time faves...

  • OMG

  • I love this video, especially watching Justin's eyebrows...so expressive! I can't wait to see them on June 9th in Minneapolis.

  • and Justin was just freshly 31 here

  • the moodies have been a mainstay forever in my life ,, the only men i could ever rely on when i felt bad or down ,,,,

  • One thing I've noticed about Moody Blues--going back to the 60's--no one of any significance has covered their music. It's like what sculpture would attempt to "cover" Michelangelo? Or other than parodies, no one "covers" Leonardo.

  • I love all their stuff...but this has long been my favorite...

  • So beautiful.

  • redbaron, where did you get this video?

  • this song is the main reason i bought Octave

  • @daddynels1 I bought Octave mainly because of "Slide Zone" "One Step" and "Day We Meet Again"

  • these guys make an album every 10 years now.SAD!

tells me no one will sign them.

  • as to the person playing the sax that would be Ray Thomas now retired...he also played flute tambourine and mad several albums on his own which are also classics long live the "Moodies" thank you one and all Peace

  • Thats a fine fringe Justin has!!

  • I bought it originally on a vinyl single. Great number but, according to my Guinness Book of Hit Singles, it got absolutely nowhere, chart-wise, in the UK. I really don't know why as it was a great atmospheric song.

  • Interesting that even though Mike Pinder actually played on this song he is absent from the video. Is that Patrick Moraz they're showing?

  • @MrRichicago Indeed that's Mpraz. He replaced Pinder on the Octave Tour and eventually became one of the Moddies. Very talented guy.

  • Note the absence of Mike Pinder

  • Excellent...

  • Another one of those `this Song was way ahead of it time`

  • Beautiful. if I could make anyone Immortal it would be these guys. I want a new album so bad it hurts. these guys are incredible name one band that is still on tour after 40+ years and still sell out regularly. A blessed bunch these guys are for sure.

  • Time waits for no one - how true - hard to believe this song is 31 yo

  • Just brilliant.! Many happy memories are with this song.

  • @redcell001 Actually, Pinder was with the band when this song was recorded. Unfortunately, he dropped out before they appeared on this show.

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • .. my old time favorite band - Moody Blues... thank you for posting..

This song has SO MANY memories for me..... ♥

  • Such a beautiful song

  • beautiful <3

  • ....Legends..... From The Beginning.....

  • Sie chyba starzeje :)

  • I have to listen to this song in order to fall asleep at night. Its so gentle and lulling. Justin's voice is truely truely romantic. <3 Could listen to it all night long. I am going to see him tomorrow, and I absolutely cannot wait to hear this song!!!

  • Moody Blues FTW!!!

  • Sad not seeing Mike on the keys, though.

  • @5winston especially sad, because Mike did the recording, but left before the making of this video.

  • Love always to Marie, I will wait and be here for you forever Derek XXX

  • I was but seven years old when this was recorded on Dutch TV. It never ceases to amaze me of the enduring candle of life. Thanks friend.

  • I love this song so much! it reminds me of my ex-boyfriend when we used to sit in the Park office and he played all these Moody Blues songs to me. They just seem so romantic, just makes me drift away...

  • Thank the Higher Power they're still singing together. They still sound GREAT. I truely hope they NEVER retire. I'll go see them when they're in their 80's Ofcourse I'll be in my 70's!!!!

  • I can't believe someone could give this a negative rating!

I heard him sing this live a few weeks ago and it was just beyond amazing.

    His voice gives me chills!

Justin has the voice of an angel♥

  • @moodybluesbaby67 Actually I believe he IS an angel. No one sings (and Looks) like this who isn't an angel.

  • @moodybluesmama Yeah, I totally agree♥♥

  • the whole album out of this world is a classic

  • Justin is so cute!!!

  • There is just nothing better! Such an under-rated song.

  • I could never understand why they did'nt put this out has a single ???? definately a no 1 great

  • It was a single but not a real hit. (Only No.59 in the US)

  • @redbaron863 the thing about this great band , is they were too catchy for prog fans , but a bit complex for soft rock fans and charts. but that's what makes them so special

  • @redbaron863 who cares about the US....it was a hit and it recieved a lot of airplay

  • @redbaron863 who cares about the US...it was a hit and recieved major air time

  • @111hilander it was a single in the UK and made the top ten...which just goes to show the lack of taste with the record buying public......without a doubt the best Moody Blues song..thats just my opinion.

  • @111hilander They did I bought it brilliant.

    Regards.

  • I'm usually more like trash beside the road myself, thrown out by some drunken bubba.

    great song!

  • Justin and John....perfection...pure and simple.

  • I thought I'd seen it all before. I really thought I knew. You have shattered my illusion and I have to leave you behind.

  • grannynara, he is known to make this poor girl cry. I'm completely taken with this man and have been for most of my life... He is a real beauty inside and out. sigh

  • Justin Hayward is so beautiful I think I'm going to cry...

  • Oh THANK YOU THANK YOU! This song breaks my heart and makes it soar, all at the same time. No one but Justin Hayward can do this. Does anyone have a video for HAD TO FALL IN LOVE...?

  • Comment removed

  • This is one of their most beautiful songs--music like this makes life worth living sometimes.

  • excelent song, but it's not complete, it has 5 minutes length.

  • Pmls1972

This is the single version, the album version is 5 minutes long.

  • It`s soo beautiful almost crying.Thank u for such a beautiful song sincely from all my heart karina tamsen denmark

  • Don't understand how this song didn't become a classic--it is soooo Moodies, soooo beautiful: touching lyrics, Lodge's lilting bass lines, the sax, everything! Yet 'Steppin in a Slide Zone' (from the same album) is chosen on most compilations! I LOVE THIS SONG.

  • Agreed, this song is a Moodies classic by Justin Hayward that is usually ignorned. It's also important because it's one of the last recordings with Mike Pinder on Melletron, even though Patrick Moranz is hown in the video clip.

  • @DoofsterDan

Cause the music industry is stupid.

Another Moodies song that is as good, but you never hear of is "I Just Don't Care" from The Other Side of Life.

  • agreed.. whole heartedly...

  • the wonders you will see, when travelling with LSD

  • powerful song - thanks for posting

  • great tune dude.

  • i wish everybody could like this.

  • @mrREDBIRDFAN

What? You mean there are people who can't like it? Impossible!!

  • thank u once again my friend! had 2 come back! thank u 4 sharing with us! PEACE!

  • Amazing video amazing song amazing group. saw them in St.Louis they blew the roof off.

  • Justin is just the most magical man I have ever seen or listened to. Shivers down the spine, smile on the face and tears in the eyes all at the same time!!!

  • i so agree!!!!!!!!

  • They have a really dreamy setting for this video, and of course it compliments Justin's handsome-ness wonderfully.

  • Sucks to be driftwood. I think we all have been there a few times.

  • Big Brother'Johnnie' I know you will be playing the moody blues in heaven R.I.P John Anthony Johnson Love you forever xx

  • Dennis, this was your favourite song.

    RIP my friend.

  • seenjustin hayward at brighton end june 2009 at the 30 year anniversity of war of the worlds musical thought it was brilliant best musical ive seen great

  • Beautiful song, but then again all of their songs are. Is there nothing this amazing group can't do. Just saw them 2 weeks ago and they still are the best rock group ever. Long live The Moody Blues. Love this group so much had their name tattooed on the back of my shoulder.

  • Somehow the line "Time waits for no one, not even you" crops up in my mind every so often ..... reminding me to make the most of my life and not waste a moment because in a heartbeat, those moments are gone and I won't be able to re-live them again.... Such wise words! They have left an imprint on my memory after all these years.

  • When the moody blues I dont want to say broke up just separated to do solo albums they said they reached a point when they didnt want to do another moody blues concept album just something differant ...when they got back together they did this .

  • just saw them last night....these guys are the embodiment of EXCELENCE!!!

  • so true-- justins voice is superb

  • I sam them last Thursday at Mtn. Winery and they played this song! Set list: The Voice / The Day We Meet Again / Steppin in a Slide Zone / Tuesday Afternoon / Gypsy (Of a Strange and Distant Time) / Peak Hour / I Know Youre Out There Somewhere / The Story in Your Eyes / In Your Wildest Dreams / Isnt Life Strange? / Driftwood / Higher and Higher / Are You Sitting Comfortably? / Im Just a Singer (In a Rock n Roll Band) / Nights in White Satin / Question

    Encore: Ride My See-Saw

  • I would love to see them at that venue. I'm sure it was pure perfection.

  • Just saw them 2 nights ago. 1st time in 15 years and they're still great!

  • Beautiful... haven't heard this song in ages.

  • one of my top 5 MB songs for sure! I LOVE it. Justin's voice is so gorgeous.

  • i love sax ,SAX,haha dont we all sorry my silly humour

  • I'm with you - nice song, but I could live without the tacky sax

  • Well it was a session musician who played it on the album on here it was Ray Thomas doing a poor miming job. Ray always looked lost, if there wasn't a flute solo he was armed with a tamborine and singing backing vocals.

As for Mike Pinder he wasn't really up for the reunion so after the album he wasn't interested in promo work, i do recall them doing a good version of "Nights in white satin" on the Kenny Everett show

  • Always loved this song. Justin looks a lot like Eddie Money in this video.

  • I walked into this gym in a college and eddie money was rehersing and he said ok this isnt the lawrence welk show .

  • This is one of the coolest songs EVER!

  • Nice song, better than steppin in a slide zone, should be in best of instead of that.

  • LOL from 1:41 thru 2:04 it's Hans and Franz LOL

  • Lovely song....

  • Faith has already arrived at truth.

Science struggles against its arrival at truth..trying as hard as it can to arrive as slowly as possible...then denying it has finally made it when the train has stopped and the conductor puts down the steps, wipes off the handrail and offers His hand to aid science onto the footstool placed to make the "leap" less shocking, daunting and scary.for science.

  • i want to marry justin, or john, or graham, or mike or thomas! i just love them all so much, i would happily join any family they have.

  • Hi Mr Big Bad Wolf, Great video and just what I was looking for. Have a nice day my friend;) Big Bad Billy ;)

they included it in their 1996/7 concert in South Africa. i was so impresed with their live performance and they are really talented musicians with an amazing range

  • Wonderful song,30 years later stil makes me think The Moodies are my favourite group, always sounding on my trips to India,Morocco, etc.Yeah, definitely, their music is inside my heart.Thanx a lot,Justin Hayward and friends.

  • I totaly agree with you, they are a brilliant group.

  • Ditto, Linderfaith!

  • Thank you so much iluvsantafe.

There is only God that know's the future.

I know thousand's of people have to have some thing to hang on in time's of trouble & look for some thing good to happen, but sadley they dont know what believing in star sign's does to them.

I know who made the universe & earth &

I dont need anything other than God in my life even in bad time's, but he's alway's

here when we ask him & help's us.

  • Thanks, Linderfaith, for the nice comment!

  • one of my alltime favourite songs, just magic! I don't like the saxophone though :-)

  • amazing talents without all the hoopla like some rock groups. just pure music, no acrobatics need no guitar hero poses just pure quentessence of beautiful music and beautiful boys

  • .....Those Moodys....Like Fires Flickering.....Musical Brothers.....Total Hotness....

  • beautiful song beautiful boys OH MEN THAT IS!

  • I have watched this over and over in the last few days. The best moody blues song and Justin was gorgeous, so very handsome.I wish his hairstyle was fashionable now instead of the " bald look"

  • It is fashionable now - both my 13/14 year old boy have this cut. It all comes back around!

  • I have been looking at moodies all evening ( sad arnt I!) and Justin really is something else. Glad to hear the hairstyle is comming back. My grandsons aged 19 and 14 have short hair.I think I am stuck in the hippie era.

  • so true so true justin wears that style well i think he is one of the handsomest men i have ever seen!! he looks soooo adorable here. do you think he really knows how drop dead gorgeous he was here. brad pitt and robert redford don't be jealous!!!!

  • The Moody Blues are the greatest British band of all time. They go straight to the core of what it means to be human. And Justin, John, Graeme,Ray and (Michael, Patrick) are extremely talented musicians. They belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  • Kenzowal, thats some statement!Greatest British band of all time! I think the beatles ,the stones, pink floyd, queen, led zepplen,u2 ect.... might have something to say about that;but The Moody Blues are right up there.

  • Most Beautiful!

  • OMG wasnt he gorgeous and thats the best song he did. beautiful

  • Hayward definitely took the Moody Blues in a whole new direction when he landed in '66..was it? Extreme talent along with the rest of the group.

  • @jimbowie09 '65 right on!

  • @DieselProductions11 I forgot what I said & Can't find my comment!

  • I love this song, it may be my favorite Moody Blues song. I like the guitsr at the end. And omg, Justin!! He was, and still is so handsome. How many girls and women's hearts has he stolen in the last 40 years.

  • I agree with you regarding Justin, swoon, he's absolutely gorgeous in every way, what woman would leave our Jus on the shore!

  • When I lost a loved one in the 1980's, this song came out. It hurts my heart even today to hear this. It perfectly described how I felt.

  • Is there a place where I can se setlists from the concerts this year?

  • Same happend about to me, but I still listen to them.

I dont live far away from him I found out.

    Brilliant group.

  • What I would give to meet him! My comment was purely to express how deeply this song touches the heart. Whether sad or happy, songs hit us so deeply. Todayfaith: if you could arrange a meeting between us, I would be forever grateful. I was a lonely single girl who would listen to that song and get lost in the lyrics. It was so meaningful to me. That is why I looked for it on Youtube - these many years later.
