@roleplayingnoob You mean they "DID" it in every commercial. The Sonic generations commercials say "The only thing cooler than Sonic is two Sonics!" Which is not a direct attack on Nintendo. Besides that, Sonic is losing fans as Mario constantly gains more. That coupled with Mario and Sonic Olympics has made it where Sega can't attack Nintendo or Mario anymore. I am a Sonic fan personally, and it's sad to see a dwindling fanbase for the thing I love.

@MultiSonicdude Well they were the earliest video game characters I was exposed to. My dad and I used to play the original Super Mario Bros. and we used to have the original STH for the Genesis. I currently have Mario Party 4, New Super Mario Bros. DS and Wii, Super Paper Mario, Sonic Unleashed, and the Genesis Collection. My favorite Sega game besides Sonic is the Streets of Rage series. Too bad today we only get crummy Sonic games not as good as the old ones(at least Sega did MadWorld).

I liked both back then. I had NES, GameGear, SNES, and Genesis. I loved Genesis most of all. SEGA Channel was also awesome because it let me have ALL of the Genesis games.

Yes it was. The Sega Genesis launched in September 1989 for $199.95, the Super NES in April 1991 for same price. Speaking of SMW, Sonic 1 is definelty better than Mario World, because the U.S. of SMW was too different from the Japanese version.
