  • In socialist France, the employers have to give workers three months notice before layoffs. But this report has it right, a state law cannot cover a national business where managers in NH are not informed about the layoffs in time to provide the 60 day notice. I've often wondered, does productivity go up or down when employees find out that they are about to be laid off?

  • I tend to agree with the Nashua chamber on this one. It could have the effect of making businesses not want to locate in NH and managers would not want to be held responsible. That being said, I do think it should be common human decency for a company to give employees at least a month's notice if they are going to be laid off. After all, employers expect 2 weeks notice from an employee, and employees have a lot more to lose being laid off than companies do from having one worker quit.

  • Govt. should enforce contracts and provide sound money and then shut up.

  • No point in asking the government to do anything "for" you, since everything they do will be done inefficiently, and in the interests of the State and not you.

Private money works just fine, as does private adjudication and arbitration.

Nothing that government does cannot be provided more efficiently and in higher quality by private individuals working together in their own best interests.

  • I like your commercials also. Your singing makes me laugh. That gives balance to the serious issues you present. AC

  • I checked out WesternMassSolar's website. They need to develop it to provide more information about their company, services, products, and costs online.

As far as this NH bill goes, yes, I think it would provide a dis-incentive for companies to locate there. However, if more States would enact this type of legislation i.e. 60 days notice before layoffs occur, then the effect would probably be minimized. It seems only fair to give people adequate notice about an impending layoff.

  • P3rf..... I do Solar setups in Western Mass area, and also sell panels and related solar equipment. If you have a need, let me know. In W.Mass and southern NH I have been doing "solar inspections" for customers to find if they have good solar power conditions to begin with. Thanks for visiting my site.

  • ty dave.

    you rock.

  • a reduction in private, unaccountable tyrannies seems like a good thing to me, but i don't know whether this is the way. i'll definitely look into it. thanks, dave!

  • I like his 1950s styled commercials ;-]
