Atheists are not a group who all think the same, it is a word describing that one is without belief in any deity. I don't believe in anything divine, and therefore I do not claim to hold divine knowledge. The religious claim to know things they can not know, not me.

Now if you see god as a monarchal ruler of the world, yes science will have a problem with such. But if you see god as a universal force, For instance, in a zen or buddhist monastery... if a monk would jump up and proclaim to be "god" he may get a reply such as "oh, congratulations, you finally found out. Such a practice fit's well with science..

If one is the universe then obviously on a certain level particles would appear in more than one place at the same time. I'm pretty sure quantum physics has recently discovered that in the last decade. science and zen will never contradict each other.

My personal life was one where as a child, i was the only one who wanted to go to Church. I would walk on my own ( about a mile or so) at age 8 or 9 to Sunday school. It didn't last that long, but I've always felt a need to search. I've visited with all sorts of Indian religions, mostly because of my belief in reincarnation. The mind is a fascinating thing and I'm not positive that there isn't another dimension. But suspending my rational thought, (walked on water) is nonsence and proves nothing

Not even close. Both do say to "punish." But that doesn't mean kill. Can't you punish a person by depriving them of something? You don't have to stone them. The act of stoning is a primitive act developed by radicals. It isn't part of religion, it's part of the deficiency in human reasoning and rationality.

My personal life was one where as a child, i was the only one who wanted to go to Church. I would walk on my own ( about a mile or so) at age 8 or 9 to Sunday school. It didn't last that long, but I've always felt a need to search. I've visited with all sorts of Indian religions, mostly because of my belief in reincarnation. The mind is a fascinating thing and I'm not positive that there isn't another dimension. But suspending my rational thought, (walked on water) is nonsence and proves nothing

Perhaps that is the difference between fundamentalism in any faith and more moderate approach in contemporary times. But here's the thing, Allah's word is supposed to be the pinnacle of truth and therefore, unchanging. Not even close. Both do say to "punish." But that doesn't mean kill. Can't you punish a person by depriving them of something? You don't have to stone them. The act of stoning is a primitive act developed by radicals. It isn't part of religion, it's part of the deficiency in human reasoning and rationality.
