I thought it was just me, 'cause I'm old and deaf, but the vocals in *ALL* the Crooked Still clips strike me as spotty. I suspect that Aoife is a challenge to mic, because she's got such a clear voice and wide dynamic range that she's either piercing on the loud bits, or drowned out on the soft bits.
I saw them for the first time at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Scotland in Jan of this year. They were AWESOME! (I surprised myself for once because I am one of those headbanging chicks that likes heavy metal, but Crooked Still turned me over to the softer side.) Just goes to show, good music is good music no matter what kind of music you usually listen to. :)
@MutedProphet That's (one of) the best things about music~ if it's good, it's good, doesn't matter what "brand" it is... some people never realize that, so glad you can appreciate all the different tastes there are, it just opens up the world, doesn't it?!
I know all of them except Dr. Litzs (is that how you spell it?) the banjo player, I actually just went to camp with Rushad and Corey in Maine, wicked awesome!
i love crooked still! i saw this video live, when they were in winnipeg, and at in Mpls at their concert!! and i had a lovely convo with the lovely cellist!! i feel blessed!!
I think that title goes to Trampled by Turtles. Check them out. But these guys were amazing at winnipeg. One of my favorite acts alongside Bedouin Soundclash and K'naan on the main stage.
nice job getting and posting this video. i was right up there in the front cheering. folk fest is the best time ever. thsi si the only vid ive come across, so thanks. i want to marry aoife.

Wicked version. I'm happy to say I was there, not far from where this was shot from!
If only nights like those could last forever.
