  • Hey!?

It's "The musician melody maker" and not "The Gibson Melody Maker"...

    Right?

Gibson is only "The EXCELLENT SOUND maker"!

    Right?

and this guitarist is AN EXCELLENT musician.

  • Ppl, don't worry! The new melody maker so different! They gave it the right head stock and installed 2 p-90 pickups! Abt damn time they did something to make the melody maker not suck lol

  • These guitars ROCK!!! I have one and installed a Gibson 57 classic pickup in it with 500k pots and a "Black Beauty" oil paper capacitor and WOW what a difference I would put this guitar up against any Les Paul...sounds that good!!!

  • First this one: /watch?v=y8Kyi0WNg40

    Then this one: 0:59

  • I don't know why, but it feels like the head of this guitar is giving me an insecure and frightened look.

  • I don't care what people say, this guitar is fantastic

  • I'm thinking about getting a new guitar but I'm kind of stumped between the melody maker and the fender telecaster, any opinions would be great!

  • @thetown123456789

well imho just buy the melody maker, it looks better and plays simillarly

  • I want this guitar so so bad.

  • October 21st ;)

  • perhaps the only affordable Gibson guitar. I aint got 2000 dollars to spent on a guitar, what should i buy?

  • @TheIzzyGuy budget? theres a ton of $1000 Gibbys.

  • how the fuck do you set the intonation?

  • I wish they did a Les Paul with this headstock and p90's. Great guitar.

  • i wish it had the normal gibson headstock

  • Looks good!! I had a double cutaway SG Style one in the 60s....

  • If it's good enough for Carl Barat it's good enough for anyone.

  • Dunno why people are dissing on this guitar, it's fantastic

  • this guitar is a dirty bitch in the best way possible

  • I am one of the biggest guitar collecting pigs around and the melody maker properly set up is a tone monster, light and a blast to play. Some people freak on the price and the one pickup, the stock pick up sounds awesome, just use your guit volume and the tone for tons of amazing variations,I took one and put a lolar p90,rs guitar works pot kit, some new tuners and for under 1000.00 it right up there with all of my collectors guitars. Great job gibson

  • are all the people dissing this video deaf and just decided not to watch or listen to the video describing how amazing the melody maker is?

  • Kinda good guitar while the head stock looks like f*cking sh*t and with one single coil pick-up better off getting an Epiphone Les Paul Standard

  • I tried a used 2 pickup model at a Guitar Center, now my LP Classic is barely played. I did not expect this to be a very high quality instrument to be honest, but after playing it, there is no doubt.

  • If the unplugged resonance is anything to go by, then the Melody Maker should be OK, if a little limited pickup - wise. Stripped back, but cool because of that (perhaps). Its a six string string Gibson electric guitar with no pretensions. Why are people worried about the head stock for God's sake!

  • did anyone ever come across the dual p90 versions?

  • guys! i own 2 gibson flying v's and was interested to play one of these! so i played one today and it was amazing! 10000% worth of it's money! 100% gibson sound!

but ok it's a little bit ugly..

  • Yeah, but do you really wanna buy your kid a 500 Gibson to start out with? Just think, *CRACKKKK* Uh.... DaaAAAaaaaddd?

  • the new ones on musicians freinds states that they are made for profesionnals now

  • if the strings were lined up on the neck well id buy one but look at 1:34 the 1st E is almost off the neck and the 6th E is out of skew. If this is the one they chose for the video im assuming its one of the better ones made. and seeing this i may as well go buy an ibanez gio for 125$.

  • @Speedoman1978 fuck you dude the "misalignment of the strings" is just the angle of the camera shot and beside what kind of douche nozzle decides he isnt going to buy a guitar or that a certain guitar isnt up to par by what they see on goddam youtube video?! go into a guitar shop and test that melody maker and Gio side by side and then see what you think asshole

  • @Lennonlegend94 WOW dude, you are getting really worked up. He didn't insult anybody, but you are going "douche nozzle" this, "fuck" that, "asshole" and all that stuff. Are you a 12 year old who has just discovered swearwords or just a very stressed person?

  • Anyone think they are overpriced?

  • @StephenFiorentini it is made in america...

  • I'm here to tell you something...this guitar ROCKS, it has a fell that is nice to play and stays in tune even with extreme string bends! I use an Epiphone Studio 10 S amp head through a 4x12 Marshall cabinet with custom low watt speakers made by Macaffay Amps and it even blew my Gibson SG standard way with its ability to play "Blues and Rock" and retains it's natural tone very well! I LOVE THIS GUITAR AND IS NOW MY FAVORITE GUITAR TO PLAY!

  • Always wanted one of these bad boys

  • Here's a bit of truth. A lousy guitar player will still sound lousy on a $6000 guitar, but a grea guitart player can make a cheap guitar sound great. The Melody Maker is a nice guitar...there are probably just too many lousy players out there that think an expensive guitar will make them sound great...WRONG!!! Your's still a crappy player. Learn to play...and that goes for any instrument. And that goes for volume also, you only sound bad, but louder.

  • @Keyboardman88 it still depends on what kind of guitar you buy :-/ , i thought I sounded bad but till I used my brothers amps and jackson, I went crazy playing All day ! xD , but seriously it sounded like a guy that couldn't play and the neck was realy chunky for me at that time

  • @Keyboardman88 Exactly, a good guitar is like putting a cherry on a cake, its useless if you don't have any cake, good job sir

  • my friend who owns an american standard tele and my guitar teacher from school said these things are pices of shit but i was going for lessions today so i decided to test it out for myself and i played it both clean and distorted and fell in love this is by no means a pce of shit but the one in my music store was not taken care of well so go figure lol anyway it does not really matter tht this only one pick up if u play more to the neck u get a warmer tone and if u play more to the bridge it g

  • I love my two Melody Makers. Best guitars I've ever played. Cheap, yes they are. Crap, no they're not. After all, you can find crappy guitars even it's cost 6000 dollars. It's all how you play, after all.

  • This is one of the finest guitars ever made. It's a joy to play.

  • The Gibson Melody Makers are tone machines. They sound better than most any Tele, Strat or other guitar $500 or less. I've played guitar for 16 years, and I love these things.

  • Is the pickup same dimensions than Strat's one?

  • it all comes from the guitarist!!

  • Sounds so nice but you have to admit its a fucking crazy looking guitar.

  • I own a Les Paul studio and an 84' reissue flying V and I still want one of these :D

  • i have melody maker and its fucking nice, it has great sound. It isnt beatyful but so fuckin what ? and why people says bad about this guitar if they hasnt even try one. And its pretty rare

  • there guitars are amazing dont fucking say shit about them untill you try them. there billys gibbons favriote guitar it was his first becuse they WERE beginer guitars!!!

FUCK LES PAUL JUINIORS THEY WERE begginer guitars too the only diffrence is melody makers are actually good so fuck all of you the headstock is fucking nice so take your $2000 doller lps and go fuck yourselfs

  • @dayjayd so right

  • @dayjayd = you idiot!

  • @dayjayd I've got one of them, myself(Melody Maker)

  • i played this at my music store and i was very impressed. it sounds great and is very light and the neck is ridiculously comfortable. it does look different from most guitars, but there is still something unique and awesome about the styling. very good guitar for blues

  • id work for a bit in a shop to get one , but i wouldnt earn money and spend it on that ......

  • Nice but over priced

  • I think this Gibson is awesome sounding considering the single coil pickup.

  • Comment removed

  • @RobotFollower it's still not a begginer guitar HEHE :)

  • there is no hum?!!!!

  • @RobotFollower it's not a "begginer guitar" don't forget that joan jett played it. It's a great guitar

  • @FILIPPOS8EOS It's not the same guitar, actually. She put a zebra burstbucker at the bridge and also put a kill switch. She never played the "melody maker" that the video here shows us. She has her own signature melody maker so it's nothing similar comparing to this one here. I personally think that joan's melody maker is better because, well i sell more JT sig's, than Stock Melody Makers. :)

    -Christian Zodkfield.

  • ugly as hell...:D

  • @Dorfrocker1 famous as hell...:D

  • This is a rocking guitar. Very comfortable with a nice neck carve but the sound is what makes thing guitar so good. From clean to raunchy rock n roll it can do it all with a unique voice. The best budget guitar made.

  • thanx to this vid im buying a melody maker

  • is it just me or the guitar is not that bad actually?

  • @spidey9556 Recently tried one and it was superb. It depends if you want or need lots of pickups and tone variations, but even with just one pickup, gain and tone, this guitar is surprisingly versatile. It's cousin is the Gibson Junior, but the Melody Maker is much more affordable if you're on a tight budget.

  • Anyone know if this guitar would be good to play anything from GNR to Bullet for my Valentine and The Beatles?

  • @jlwild123 GNR- maybe, Bullet- I wouldnt even dream of putting one of those in drop C, and finally, beatles-quite possibly.

  • @jlwild123 That's a pretty wide range of styles.

  • Thats so fat for one pickup

  • Why does anyone buy this guitar? HAHA

  • i have this guitar it so sick if you want a cheap gibson

  • Melody Makers are neat. Solidbodies are just planks, and I think they're more interesting and less pretentious/silly when they look as much like a boat oar as possible, and I like the sound of single coils. Good job Gibson, hope they sell.

  • My 80 year old mother wanted to take guitar lessons. This what I bought her. It's small and light perfect beginner guitar for your kid or your mom.

  • The Melody Maker Is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

  • jesus, what is wrong with you guys? stop leaving bad comments about the guitar. the melody maker has a great history and also don't forget, it is a "begginer guitar" so is not the best guitar in the world or the best sound quality. just a guitar to start. and aslo it is a gibson.

  • Comment removed

  • @RobotFollower I would use it a my primary not begginer ( :

  • this guitar is pretty good

    not more not less

  • get rid of that piece of shit polymer finish! let the paint peel!

  • you only pay for the name gibson. buy an epiphone!, their´re much better!

  • Ugly piece of shit and plays worse than a bar of soap in the shower

  • @Glockenator

Bars of soap in showers are normally quite good.

  • Great Job

    Great Guitar.

  • for that money i should get diamond embedded tuning heads, and a free strat :)

  • this guitar is awesome i got it and i love it

  • "wrap around tail piece" ... LOL ...who else laughed when he said that!?

  • It feels as if you will always pay for a gibson guitar name not the guitar. eh...-_-...

  • Its not ugly, it does not sound "terrible" and it is a simple one p/u guitar. It is what it is... If you don't like it then don't buy it. You can get a used one for around $300. Thats a deal for a USA made guitar.

  • I saw this guitar at my music shop today for $400

  • i have the guitar same sound as a les paul ive played both but its more of a punk guitar because of one pickup

  • it sounds terrible

  • Who says it''s ugly? I think the headstock is cool... Love the look of it, actually.

  • I love that headstock

  • @antiWMGchannel ya cause it fits in your ass =)

  • just got the dual pickup one for £120. bloody lovely guitar but certainly aint a looker!

  • who cares if the thing is ugly. most of the people sayin its ugly would get a warlock rather than going about how it sounds. you know i might be goin on about this wrong. who cares if it sounds good if you look good doing it (sarcasm). honestly

  • i have one, dual pickups. its so nice

  • Children, no, it's not a Les Paul. That's the point. And no, it's not a Taiwanese copy like the "Epiphone" or "Danelectro" repros some here seem to prefer! The Melody Maker is a genuine US made guitar for the working man who wants the real deal, a true players guitar that will take years of hard playin' & hard knocks & looks better for it..

"Ugliest headstock ever"? Ever seen a pre war Gibson? I still play an L-0. The headstock looks just fine to me..

  • yeah, nowhere near as good as a les paul junior, but if i was looking for a simple 1 pickup, guitar for under £400 this is the way i would go

  • WHAT A UGLY GUITAR

  • OMFG what an awful headstock ^^

What are the differences between this shit and the Les Paul Junior ?

  • @MiMiL33400 price

  • I'm thinking about getting this guitar. I've been playing for about 3 years now and want to make an upgrade from my squier strat. Is it worth it?

  • @LEFFDAWGG87 I've been playing for only 2 years and upgraded from an Epiphone Les Paul Special II to an $800 dollar Ibanez RGA42FM. Now that was worth it.

  • It is a piece of dog dung. Any Danelectro puts it to shame. Buy a $300 Epiphone. The overall quality is for shit. I own it. It is the worst quality chunk of junk I have ever seen.

  • @LEFFDAWGG87 i would say it would be a big upgrade from a squire, but if you are looking for a les paul kind of guitar, I would say go with an epiphone les paul standard, which u could get around the same price as this guitar. This cost around $500.

  • @rhino2218 its not cheap i got it at a discount for $1200

  • @Sageman32 wow rip off. i know u can easily get this brand new at musicians friend for exactly $489.00

  • @Sageman32 ha-ha you got ripped off like hell man they're worth 500 at gc

  • @timpupjones666 Hiya, how is the finish on the guitar, I am about to order one of these Gorgeous guitars but keep reading reviews that slam the finish, neck joint, fret ends, etc etc, Cheers for the help!

  • Really, the very ugliest headstock ever!

  • wow the headstock is so uncommon

  • cool guitar but that headstock in ugley

  • fuck this guitar

  • honestly even though the sound is good, in estetic this guitar fails a lot.

  • this is shit

  • Junk

  • I played this guitar, I thought the sound was awful

  • can you switch the tone much using the tone nob?

  • i have melody maker 1970

  • i don´t like this guitar it´s too light and not very good to play on acording to me but i play on a SG

  • I've seen this guitar...kinda badly made...rather get a epiphone les paul than that.

  • melody maker or epiphone custom?

  • hmmmmm....... HOW MUCH DOES IT COST.

  • 800 or so

  • Only about 500 dollars

  • I have a SG myself, and I went to check out this simple guitar. I was amazed by it. I'd definitely recommend this guitar to anyone who just can't afford a Les Paul or an American Fender.

  • ugliest headstock ever...

  • @MrBrownstonee It's a military haircut for a guitar. :P

  • @MrBrownstonee Not as elegant as the usual headstock, I agree, but if it's a case of bagging a very affordable Gibson for a price that doesn't make your wallet weep, or paying a load extra for the crafting of the usual headstock ...... well ... ? Of course, you can pay 2/3 as much again for a Gibson Junior if you prefer.

  • @MrBrownstonee looks like dildo xD

  • @MrBrownstonee amen

  • i have this guitar.. very cool sound!!

  • I got this guitar it f'in rules =)

  • This or the Studio?

  • @OptoOcto

depends this is really good clean

studios are like a less good standard

i prefer jrs maby you should give those a try

  • Yeah, I was kinda thinking the same, but I wanted others opinoins xD Thanks

  • @GoHabs13 studios are just standards without cosmetic frills like binding

  • @stonefreak1962

    not at all true

studios feel really light and not at all like a real les paul and therefore they dont sound nearly as good

  • talk to the luthiers and reps at gibson they all say that studios are standards with different finishes and no cosmetics......i went over thiswith one at my locall gibson distributor this past week

  • I've just ordered my melody maker, but is it a good alternative to a fender telecaster? If not i'm setting my fender Jaguar for sale, because i don't like the sound of the jaguar, i think i bought it 10 years ago because it looks good. :-)

  • the melody maker is the only guitar from gibson, which is cheap and build in the U.S.A

  • Comment removed

  • I just played one while out for a lunch break and I was very pleasantly surprised - it's a simple guitar for sure, but sounded great, was perfectly in tune and seemed to stay that way, light as a feather...and at a pretty reasonable cost (650CAN). I compared it to a PRS SE with p90's (I'll go back and try one with real single coil pickups for a fair comparison) but the melody maker sounded and felt way better. Loved it!

  • just sold my epi black beauty and going for one of these or a american telecaster. something that wont break your back

  • Hey guys!.. Im getting this soon and i wanna know if it will work for green day?.. I have a marshall combo as amp :)..

  • any piece of shit works for green day dude ;)

  • Wrong.. An emg HOLY GOD heavy pickup guitar with build-in mid-scoop will not work for green day for sure :D! And right here im not talking about a little alike green day.. Im talking like preety accurately green day sound :D

  • @dabuehl Hey asshole don't know were youre talking bout man! Green Day plays the Les Paul Junior 1958

  • @dabuehl billie plays junior ?

  • @guitarnuttty he plays the billie joe armstrong les paul junior signature electric guitar

  • @dabuehl as long as u hav a humbucker (or an EXTREMELY wound single coil), lots of gain, and ur set!

  • @dabuehl billie joe plays a les paul juinor. and is a homo.

  • No doubt, man! It will work for green day very well :o) I have it and it screams like a power saw!!! Beauty!!!

  • I agree with you! :D!! I got it now in Sunburst.. its SOO great :D!

  • how is this different from a les paul junior?

  • im getting one these for xmas cant wait they sound awesome

  • i played this fucker at a store once. i picked it up laughing thinking this might be one of those shitty cheap guitars that rich people buy to fuck around with. i was dead wrong. this little guy screamed. it was amazing. mind blowing sustain and tone. just a great guitar

  • yeah i did the same thing

    fucking awesome guitar

  • yeah. I went to a store to pick up my duesenberg and i was doubting this cheap ass guitar can do any. I played. turns out this baby screams really good. good for jazz, traditional heavy rock, ANY clean sound (the best Iv ever heard. its crispy clear), and of course blues.

  • The sound is not bad..and good blusey tone.....i have an original 63 melody maker..it is so playable its unbelievable!!

  • i can`t hear what he is playing there are no sound

  • I have an original.

  • Hi, im aout to buy a guitar, I NEED A CLEAN SOUND!

And i dont know which one i have to buy, i dont have so much money, so i decided, to...

This guitar, a gibson melody maker,

    OR a

    Epiphone Les Paul 100

    Please, somebody helpme

  • I'd say either the melody maker or a fender tele. Id avoid the epiphone though.

  • Just take a strat!!!

  • Take my advice and take the melody maker. u wont be disappointed
