  • @TheBsuchar haha wow after watching this i know i need to be more flexible.. i couldnt do most of them even half way :(

  • Great video! I've looked at a lot of videos for flexibility especially for martial arts & this is one of the best! Thank you very much.

  • Muy didactico !! Gracias por subirlo !!!!

  • This video is really helping me with my Tae Kwon Do flexibility. Thank you so much!

  • Nice Job guys. Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks, this was very helpful! I do TKD and have been trying to get more flexible for a few months now. I do stretches every day, but these seem a lot more affective! Thanks again! :)

  • I loved this video. In my class the one thing I loved the most was stretching,be it karate or TKD.I used to go to yoga class too. But now due to back problem I'm not able to bend frwd.I feel so bad that I did not take care of my back.

  • @taminqwer

Glad you liked it. They'll be more videos like these coming up in the future. Sorry to hear about your back hope it gets better

  • @taminqwer

so yoga and stretching fucked your back up eh

  • kool

  • great vid : )thank You for sharing

  • Thank you Chris! It was great! I like this method!

  • Hey, thanks. I needed this, is it clinically approved for athletes?

  • @Sya93im

Well no clinic has approved us yet lol...but it has gotten results for our team members and many studies like the ones I posted in the description box talk about the benifits of static stretching after a workout

  • Hey thanks!!

I really learned new stretches with your video! :-)

  • Very cool. Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • Thank you for the video. I am very flexible, and I have to agree that stretching after a workout definitely helps. I work out hard when I have time to train, and if it weren't from this type of stretching, I would probably be sore a lot longer. I also might not have recovered from previous injuries as rapidly either. Thanks again, I love your videos!

  • @judontmesswithme

Thanks! We are glad that you enjoy them. We hope you'll keep watching them

  • Great vid and excellent idea for a series. Flexibility is obviously important for performance as well as injury prevention.

  • Static Stretching is not as effective as Dynamic Stretching for athletes. It's a proven theory

  • @geezybby1

Be care with how you use the words "proven theory" my friend. Science is constantly evolving; Especially in the field of physiology and sports science. I have posted in the description box a link to a recent study which talks about dynamic versus static stretching. The purpose of our video here is to INCREASE your level of flexibility. Which means after your workout you should do these techniques to recieve the most benificial results. In this study it showed that dynamic...

  • @geezybby1

stretching was good BEFORE a workout to increase muscle performance. Static stretching for small periods of 30 seconds alternating stretches was shown to positively effect muscle performance as well(which was believed to be the opposite) most studies did static stretching for periods over 1 minute which had an adverse effect on leg extension power and muscle performance. However, Like I said the point of these stretches are for AFTER your workout and I assure you that they work

  • @geezybby1

Lastly, performing these stretches after a workout or after a good warm up help increase your limbs' overall range of motion and flexibility. If you have any doubts feel free to look at the study I posted in the description box. Our job here is to educate others and hopefully you learned something from reading this. If not, then at least this explanation can help others who come across it as well. :)

  • @DoralWolves Yes at no point did I say Dynamic was noneffective but I also have come across many Yoga Instructors who have many bone problems where there bone structure was severely affected due to Static stretching for long periods of time. I have also heard that Static stretching is good for after your workout but the position should never be held for more than 10 secs, preferably 5 seconds. Any type of stretching with increase flexibility. But in the case of Athletes, which of whom I was-

  • @geezybby1

That is odd since many of the athletes we have worked with over the years within Taekwondo have not had problems with this type of static stretching. If you were hurt doing stretches there might be another problem: technique, stress placed on muscles, posture. Overstretching? Naturally our body wears down with age but you shouldn't be needing doctors and chiropractors to undo damage to your body done by stretching. Respectfully, unless something in your stretching was off.

  • @DoralWolves Oh there were other reasons I had to see a Sports doctor, main reason was I am very flatfooted and with all the training, it built a lot of scar tissue in my legs to the point where the scar tissue was going over my tibia's. But the Static stretching over the years did not help either, thus my main example of the Yoga instructors who's discipline is Static stretching, have many problems. And these are people who do that for a living, so I doubt there technique was off.

  • @geezybby1

As you know Taekwondo has a lot of high-impact and scar tissue most often results from the pulling of muscles. Stretching and normal activity often allow the tissue to be reabsorbed into the body but for serious scarring it takes a lot more. The worst part is that the scar tissue if not treated leads to pain and decreased flexibility. Once it has gotten to the point where it cant help you then you need chairopractors for medicinal treatment/massage therapy.

  • @DoralWolves Yeah I am so flatfooted that I have 0 arch support. So since I have no arch, basically the muscle in my leg is pulling on the tendon, which creates the scar tissue. I'm sure it's a bit more complicated but I put it in simple terms. But I would like to know if you can explain why Yoga instructors/ practitioners, not saying all, but they are a good amount that suffer from varying types of pain and have abnormal bone structure similar to scoliosis.

  • @DoralWolves Yes there flexibility is off the charts but it does come with a price as time goes on.

  • @DoralWolves targeting, Dynamic stretching is the best for top performance in any competition. Like you I am also a Tae Kwon Do competitor, I've competed at the top level a few years ago and from my experience I can say Static stretching did increase my flexibility but ultimately did more damage to my body. I had to go through several sessions with a Sports Doctor/ Chiropractor to undo the damage Static stretching did for all those years doing it.

  • @DoralWolves I'm sorry in my first comment I meant to say, " yes at no point did I say STATIC stretching was noneffective."

  • Good Stuff!

  • YES. Finally something that I needed is here.

  • Nice video, I really need to begin stretching again. One thing I noticed is that you recommend stretching every day. Our instructor had noticed great improvement in flexibility when he continued stretching after a few days break, as if the body needed to "relax" for a while to get the full benefit from stretching. Do you think it is better to stretch every day or to take breaks?

  • @Noseless

From my experience, light stretching on daily base can only bring you benefits, not only legs but whole body. But keyword is light because force stretching of not well warmed up muscle can backfire and beside it's lesser effective it can lead to injure and negative muscle stress. In that case you must give muscles a break and continue after few days.. So just take it easy, make it a habit and, as Chris said in this video, listen to your body :) Thank you Chris, nice video again!

  • @3bepko Thanks for the reply, I'll try not to overdo it. :P

  • @Noseless

That was some good input by 3bepko, Yes Noseless I would reccomend stretching everyday. These stretches when done after a good warm-up will really help you achieve the benifits of stretching. As long as we arent doing stretching which places too much stress on the muscles you will be fine. Remember as you go into each stress and move from one stretch to another, to relax your body and slowly pull out of the stretch to avoid unnecessary stress. Thanks for watching!

  • Good work. Thank you for your time and the will to teach. Keep them coming. Don't be waiting now to obtain professional equipment..

  • I like always comment on your videos.. I love them <3

  • i love how its a video of someone who isnt all that flexible and isnt trying to show himself off with full side/front splits...great video really helpful gonna try some of these stretches

  • Always fun to see how different people stretch, I plan to do a stretching vid myself, I like to do the floor (what you call "intermediate") stretches with my feet pointed and then with my feet flexed just to get a little more mileage out of the same basic motions, I'm pretty sure you are more flexible than I am (at least for now) ... I'd like to see some Kata vids too!

  • thanks for the video

  • This was awesome~! :] Thank you. [*Thumbs ^ *]

  • thanks for the video bro.

  • Love it ♥

    Thanks, DoralWolves^__^;)*

  • thank you....and I am looking forward to your others in this series...Domo Arigato!

  • you should get a better camera :D just a sony or smthing

  • @Zappinglaser

Haha well we would love to get a better camera.

If you're interested we take donations :P

  • @DoralWolves You don't need a new camera because if you blow the budget on them, you'll still be left with bad light and sound. The simplest thing to do is get a couple of 60w lamps and put them above the camera. Sound is much trickier, if your camera doesn't have a mic input, you're going to need to amplify your voice another way, like running a mic through a stereo which would be close under the camera. It wouldn't need to be loud, just enough to boost your voice.

  • @0Darkwater0

Thanks for the tips. We'll definately try to add these suggestions

  • These stretches are very well explained, thank you

  • Thanks! This was perfect timing too, the kids I teach are starting to get bored with the normal stretches lol

  • Nice video.Thanks for sharing

  • Excellent! Just what I need, I will definately be sharing these stretches, thank you

  • hello, I can do the full splits got a few vids of myself doing them on my channel.. i've been stretching for 5 years or more.. but I cannot get my foot behind my head do you guy's got any helpful tips that may be able to help me accomplish this? thanks.. Any Tips would be greatly appreciated.. Btw, i want to thank you for sharing these videos back when i couldn't do the splits I would've absolutely loved them & I still like them now as they show a few stretches that I didn't know.

  • @Bladevampirek

Thank you for your interest in the video and for your dedication to flexiblity. I saw your video of you doing splits and I will be posting a video later on advanced stretching that involves using the chairs like you did. In order to do something so advanced as putting your foot behind your head, I highly recommend doing yoga. I will also be posting videos on yoga poses to improve flexibility.

  • @DoralWolves

Try doing the split seen at 7:25 and elevating your front foot(on something like a cushion, pillow, or higher surface). Also from the same position...try grabbing your back leg and doing a quad stretch.

  • @DoralWolves Thanks for the vid, beginning song was cool, and the background music was peaceful, what was the background song, i think that instrument is called an erhu, i got like two songs in my traditional music playlist that have the erhu, and others with other instruments, just wanted to share that, but anyways whats the background song you used, thanks in advance, and thanks for the vid.

  • @DoralWolves Thankyou for the replying comment i'll be sure to keep an eye out for your videos on yoga poses to help get my foot behind head.. I'll be looking forward to it..

Peace - Enjoy Life - & Continue to stay in fantastic shape..

    Thanks again, Bladevampirek..
