He sings different lyrics than the traditional version of the song. I've been trying to figure it out. In the second verse "Aunt Jemima, she done past 83, shoutin out "I'm full of pep" -- garbled talking -- then "said hand me that cigarette will ya?" Anyone know what the garbled part is?
Like I said before, he plays impossible stuff without even trying! "Ripping it up" is an understatement!!! He actually breaks picking down to the molecular level in a nuclear particle accelerator. He is the Einstein of funky picking! Relax and don't think you have to do it as well as him. Few if any will ever do Jerry as well as Jerry. I believe he would say "pick it son, and have fun!"
@JWPilg02 Watching him with a classical and tearing it up on one of those blows my mind. I have a nice old Tele that plays very well, but a classical guitar? I finally copied a Hausner and made a thin neck so I could not have to work quite as hard. It is an amazing feat to play that well on any guitar, but godlike on a classical. Jerry's Breakdown is a real jaw dropper, and usually played on some classical he chopped up. I learn something cool every time GP has JR style exercises in it. Miss him
I think JR was born with a guitar in one hand and a PBR in the other. NOBODY else captures country funk with his skill! He plays impossible stuff while laughing and joking; never misses a lick or note. It's like he's not even trying! Son!!!
Oh my, I been looking for this version of this song for about 15 years! Thank you for posting this! My childhood has been refreshed! Jerry Reed has been my hero for so many years. God Bless His Soul.

Back in the day, you couldn't enter a Navy Enlisted club and not hear JR. Sure hope things haven't changed so much that is no longer true.
