my problem is that where I have to keep doesn't get a lot of light, so it's always in power saver mode and won't float :/ they should have made that feature optional...
my brother got one of these yesterday and we managed to get it floating but we can't find the instructions or know what the TWO bulbs at the top do...help?
Just got mine today... it floated for ages.. and i even nudged it to spin round.. woz ace.... but now it aint floating.. think i need stronger batteries or an adapter :-)
I paid $40 for mine at Dragon*Con just last month. I love it, but mine seems to vibrate up and down sometimes. Usually, if it doesn't vibrate, it will not stay up very long. I'm not sure why that is.
Wow, $50? That's crazy - I know this video is from last year, but I just bought one in the UK for £9.99 from a Gadget shop?! What's the crack there!
Also - mine has this weird thing where if it's floating and I turn off the main light to my room - it loses it's magnetic field and falls. :/ T.A.R.D.I.S' don't like the dark apparently!
I want a real police box that looks exactly like the tardis, that you can plug in and turn on the light and it should have a shelf for all my doctorwho episodes :D
I picked up an AC adapter for mine over the weekend, and not only does it make it easier to get the TARDIS in position, it stays there through bumps and jostles far better as well. Definitely the way to go.
Take the base with you to your local Radio Shack or The Source and have them find one that fits for you. 9V, at least 200mA, and positive. They'll be able to confirm based on the details on the base.

start by putting it on the bottom, and slowly lift it up. u should feel a click in the magnetic area before you reach the top, then gently let go, it may take a couple trys. i just picked one of these up yesterday, and i love it.
@Wartooth91 I've been trying for 3 hours straight (the last half hour using your method) and I STILL can't get it to levitate! Did it take you that long?
I got my friend this for crimbo just a few days ago . I'm from Scotland and you can get the same toy for a fraction of ur $50 ( even less since it only cost me £15) thanks I really needed to know how it worked .. I mean I didn't want to give him a present then not know how to work it .. Really helpful stuff .
nice review. Looking at getting one for daddykins for christmas but like the other guy asked...why does it use an electromagnet? wouldn't a fixed magnet do the same thing? I imagine it has something to do with varying the voltage to keep the tardis floating while it moves up and down by tiny distances.
that is a lot of battaries >_< what were you saying about an AC adaptor what dose that mean ? i want to get this as a gift but i don't think it will get used if it takes that many batteries :S
@noideerised An AC adapter isn't included with the package, but the base has a place where you can plug an AC adapter into it so you won't need to use batteries.
@craigjaggs Sort of, as long as the tardis is floating you are consuming battery power. Simply removing the tardis from the magnetic field will "switch" it off. There is no physical switch.
lol i just got it for 30

Would you guys recommend keeping it away from a computer? Magnetic fields and all, but I'm not too sure cause I don't know my science onions.

What happens if the magnets are too strong?
Mine has battery's in it, but it only sticks to the top, and doesn't spin very well :/

you just have to very carefully stick it in in between... not too low or high... that simple but not always easy to do

@Butterflypants that's exactly the problem that I am having! are you suposed to remove the screw at the bottom of the tardis or keep it?

To create the magnetic field that allows the tardis to "float." Without energy, that field would cease to exist.
