theres a list on the wall at my gym of all the people who can bench at least 315 and I was unable to get on it until just this morning. the reason is that I watched this video just a few nights ago and it made my bench 60 pounds stronger! I just wanted to say thanks for making such a great instructional video and keep up the good work. oh and also, it would be GREAT if you would make similar videos for the squat and deadlift... your advice is the only advice that has ever worked for me.
ok, this is alright, but he says keep your hands (index fingers) by the line on the bar at 32" apart.....so if im 7'0"??? 32inches? if im 5'2"? 32 inches?...stupid, its not numbers that you should speak in when doing an informational video, its ratios and percentages
@THEinspectigator I m talking about copetition bench press. That s purpose of lifting powerlifting stile, and rules determine grip. Stupid or not that s rule.
Milan I find it hard to squeeze my back muscles at the bottom of the press. You said if you squeeze your back together at the bottom when the bar touches your chest you get POP poewr. It's hard to squeeze the back.. any tips?
I still can't see whats more benificial from pushing the bar from your chest and straight up, or pushing the bar from your chest and then positioning it straight over your upper chest.
Yeah i know. I see why I'm supposed to hit my upper belly, but I don't know what's more benificial from hitting the upper belly and go straight up (still holding the bar over my upper belly), or hit the upper belly and position the bar over my chest. U see? I know Dave Tate has been unclear about that too. It seems as if it varies from person to person what works the best...
Vrlo iscrpno i edukativno. Hvala.
I agree with everything except a few things 1. you said go as fast as possible, well to most people that is going to mean.. go down and try to bounce it off your chest as fast as possible.. thats not what your saying, but thats what people are going to get out of that part... you should let them know they should control the weight descending and explode ascending or going up... almost all injuries occur when someone comes down with the bar without having control
2nd thing.. no you shouldn't bench like a bodybuilder with your arms flared out, but you shouldn't touch the bottom of your ribcage with the bar either... the quickest path is the straightest path... and the farther the bar is away from you the less leverage your goin to have.. you need to ultilize every muscle, but you also want to keep your leverage so you want a happy medium between the two.. always allow the larger muscles to take up most of the task.. delts shouldn't override chest
Milan, Excellent video - Thanks for sharing. I am competing in a month and will use your advice to improve my weights. Do you do individual training?
excellent instructional vid. you explain in detail one of the best kept secrets of succesful lifters, being to reduce the rom. might even save some people from rotator cuff injuries.
I was seek of keeping that secret. Manny famous gurus from powerlifting try to explain same but I have feeling they regretting and not giving good enough information.
man this is excellent, im realy glad ive watched this it has greatly improved my bench, ive been doing it like abody builder, but the powerlifter way is more effective :-)), added 60 pounds to my bench presh in 6 weeks, im very grateful

I've been using your techniques as well as tips from AJ Roberts and my bench has come on by 35lbs in the last 6 months.
thanks.

Ive just bought my first bench shirt, an Inzer single ply Blast shirt,
