How frequently should we use it....every day or every alternate day? for someone who is preety good to do these ab exercises 70-80 in 3-4 sets at a time.
I've been doing this exercise regularly for months now, and I can do tens of reps at a time with no injury or problem, but I only feel a development in my arms and upper back. I understand I need to contract the abs and push the pelvis back to straighten my spine out when I roll down, but every time I do, my arms seem to end up doing most of the work. Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing wrong, and what I can do to correct this?
@EmsemDanceaholic Its kind of like a sit up, you have to use your ab muscles to pull yourself back up. Sounds like you're using your arms and back to pull back up.
Anyone who has injured their backs clearly didn't keep their core tight during the exercise...a vital technique to apply during this exercise. It will ensure your back stays rigid and doesn't 'sag' which may result in your injury.
THE MAKERS OF THESE AB-WHEEL CLIPS SHOULD POINT OUT THAT THESE EXERCISES ARE NOT FOR BEGINNERS. PEOPLE CAN INJURE THEMSELVES TRYING THIS WORKOUT FOR THE FIRST TIME. BE WARNED!
I just started using one last week. I do 3 sets of ten 3 times, with a 1 minute break between each set, going forward and to both sides. I don't do it daily, instead every other day (this was recomended for me). How soon should I expect noticeable results? Thanks.
I got mine today and can do between 15-20 without stopping but my arms hurt after i'm done. I think i'll do it with the wheel a bit closer to my head, instead of with outstretched arms. It's not the muscles in my arms that hurt it's the joints in my elbows. Would this still be as effective?
i bought this wheel yesterday and i didnt even go all the way down and i did it twice and today my lower abs are sore. thats right i just did it twice and im sore
i tried usuing my ab wheel and my back hurts quite alot! also i fall flat on my chest as well when i try to go as far as you do and if don't fall i just can't get back up again.
But i can't feel anything from it apart from pain in my back and ribs also abit in my arms, what am i doing wrong? it clearly not ment to do that
@lucycarter92 I would start out with easier exercises before using the ab wheel. It's not a beginner exercise! Try roll outs with your hands on a stability ball.
@lucycarter92 I'm going to tell you what most people don't know. The idea behind toning muscles and strengthening muscles is not the "feel" or the burning sensation you get (from a doing lots of reps). The excercise has to be hard enough to dish out 5 reps (5 reps, 3 sets). You have to try an contract all the muscles in your midsecion to keep yourself rigid. Strength is attained from the high resistance of an excercise not how many you do. You should not feel the burn at all.
@lucycarter92 I forgot to mention. It doesn't matter if you can't go back up. As long as the lowering aspect of the excercise is tough then just lower your self 5 times, take a break and repeat 5 reps twice more. The high resistance will build strength and in a week you should easily be able to lift yourself up. Lowering yourself in any excercise builds more strength than lifting up. If you can't do chin ups just lower yourself 5 times.
@lucycarter92 Ab wheels aren't really a beginner ab exercise. You'll need to develop some core strength to do these correctly. Squats and deadlifts are two exercises that are very helpful for developing a strong core. I also do hanging leg raises and planks. Funny that I do all these but a standard situp is still the hardest ab exercise I know.
Is this a good way tro lose weight in the stomache area? I am by no means fat or even chubby, just have some extra flub around the waste line. I have an ab wheel. Not sure if I should lose the flub before I begin using it.
@coachlevi question, does it tone your stomach? I want to know if combinding this ab wheel along with some normal sit ups, cadio and dieting will all help me lose belly fat and tone up my abs? If so please reply im starting 2011 by getting into shape and my abs are my main problem area.
@kbs1664 When it comes to weight loss, no matter who's trying to sell you exercise equipment, there is no such thing as targeting a body part. (Unless it's liposuction) When it comes to losing weight, you lose it all over.
@kbs1664 dont listen to the other guy. having musels increse the rate the body burns fat when beeing idle. abs is one of the biggest musle groups. By increasing your muscle amount you can have a better time loosing weight.
I got a question, i got my form right watching other videos. But how do i roll back in? I feel my arms are getting the workout not my abs.......
my friend who has done this many times said to try use my ab muscles to roll back in then do another one...i after 6 or so, i dont really feel it in my abs, i feel it in my arms more...obviously im doing something wrong.....any tips? :(
@hasher22 You have to make sure to hunch your back and crunch your stomach the whole time you are doing in. This will be important especially when you are pulling back. You should see a difference
@blessingfromnina Hurt your back? Either you're going down too low or you just have to get used to the pressure it can put on your back.
@czaszqn Why are people adding tuts like this? Because some people aren't sure as to how to use this peice of equipment, I know someone who thought you had to stand up doing it when its more simple to be on your knees.
@BronxBeauty8 If you can't stretch that far, just go as low as you can and you'll gradually be able to.
1) Elbows should be slightly bent throughout the repetition
2) The arms are stretched in a line with the torso and there should be no shoulder rowing movement involved. This way the exercise is focused towards the core
3) Do 8x set of 25 repetitions every other day. The first 4x are slow and the last 4x are fast. Leave 40 seconds between sets, or alternatively while you rest do some kettle bell
Results: With the this program you will see them in 2weeks
Does the Ab roller really work??? I saw one the other day at the store and it wasnt that expensive and i want to know if it works and if i use it will i see results. I already lost most of my belly fat by doing interval training now I want some definition to my stomach
@keybladechosn1 Certainly does work, and requires more core tension than most other exercises. However, it makes your abs harder but it does not give your abs a good definition in comparison to hanging leg raises.
I bought my ab roller the other day. It realy works and you can feel your abs chizziling out. Yet you should used a range of exersize with it. I tend to use my ab roller from standing up and back for my MMA.
Thks for the reply just another question. How should you breathe as you do each rep. Out on the roll out and IN on the roll back? Great video by the way.
been using the wheel for a couple of years now and as a 40 something female my body is as tight as it was in my 20s if not more all thanks to the wheel and the swiss ball, if only more females got into this kind of exercise instead of moaning about their flabby bits. thanks for this vid x
Thanks alot I was doing it wrong I felt a back pain everytime I used it.

@kbs1664 It's more a way to strengthen your abs/core. Losing your flub is mostly all about diet.
However there's no reason you can't lose your flub and do ab exercises at the same time. No need to wait.
