I also read notation but when it comes to the guitar being actually played in a live application, my brain produces the electricity and sends the signal to my fingers that my heart tells it to. To many players these days place their trust in scales, modes, and other things. The most important tools are chords. Everything starts and ends there. The more chords in different positions that you know, the better you become.
