I heard this song 12 years ago when I was searching for my birthdaughter that I relinquished 33 years earlier.I found her that same year and when we reunited I sang this song to her....as we both had tears running down our face, she hugged me so tight and said ."Yes Mama you did the right thing, I love you so much" Thank you for writing this song....I know it will continue to touch more and more mothers and daughters who are touched by adoption.
Great video! Someone needs to exposes Adoption Agencies and CPS for what they really are, thieves and con artists! Congra! to all adoptees and mothers who found each other.
It moved me to tears, love your message and the topics covered, I am adopted to. In Australia our laws changed in 1988 - Adoption records became available - you could obtain "non identifying" information. The irony of it!! I had 6 years with my birthmother before I lost her to cancer. I created a greeting card business for relationships resulting from separation, loss and reunification as a legacy to my birth mum. Go to "Reunite Cards", Google will get you there. Let me know what you think
heh...im an adoptee lookin for documents about my adoption, to see who my mom and dad was, to see what they were like u know, but i dont even know my real last name, ouch right,oi my adoptive parents say the hospital wouldnt tell them my real parents last name, to bad i guess
As a reunited mother I need to say I was NEVER promised nor did I ask for closed records and I resent the National Council for Adoption to say that they are protecting us Mothers. They are protecting their own interests and they want to keep records closed so that the baby brokers won't have to answer for their crimes against Mothers and children.Shame on them!OPEN ADOPTION RECORDS NOW!!!!
This is absolutely beautiful, the video, the song and the powerful meaning. I too am a birthmother who had her right stripped from her 27 years ago, closed adoption.
All adoptions should have a choice. I was forced to give Lewis up when he was 6 months old. Indiana is close state. Lewis was born on Mothers Day in 1961 and my heart ached ever since. My other children feels my hurt and I have cheated them out of the celebration of mothers day.
Excellent presentation. I agree that government has no business policing a person's identity.Robbing an individual of their heritage is unforgivable. I plan to address this to all of the Presidential candidates as well as my state reps.
Beautiful! Closed records hurt mothers and their lost children. No one can begin to heal until wihout an understanding of how adoption impacted them. Please Open Records for those of us who lost the most - Natural Parents & Adoptees.
I completely agree with you though some may see me as biased! I being a natural mother, while I have an appreciation for adoptive parents, have a hard time understanding how the feelings of the natural parent and child are not top priority. Please tell me what harm it causes the adoptive parents(or anyone!)...other than their fear (real or imagined) that "they" may bond and suffer a loss themselves!!!!?????

As an elderly adoptee who has had a great birth family reunion, I find this song awakens the pains of a mother's surrender beyond words. I think this song should be embraced by all in the adoption triad community
So, so true. I am in reunion with my daughter for the past 9 years. She has told me that she never thought of me over the years, never would have searched. I think she is angry with me but is afraid to say so. I will always regret the day I signed those papers.
I am an adoptive mother with a child that we adore. I am trying so hard to prevent any barriers for him when he asks "where is she". I have saved every piece of information that I was ever given from CPS. I have even contacted the birth mom's high school so I can try to get just ONE picture of her from the yearbook for him. He is one years old right now and thinks I am his world (The feeling is mutual) but I don't ever want him to wonder.
As an adoptee you are doing Right. He will ask many many questions. we do look to you our MOTHER/MOM for all the answers.I thank you for being a adoptive parent.
Beautiful song and very touching. I am a searching adoptee and I was very moved by your work. Hopefully the government will wake up and gives us back our heritage.

Very moving.A govt. has no rights to legislate an individual's identity and heritage.
I plan to email my state reps.& the pres. candidates.
