This is some amazing footage. Thanks for sharing it. So much great music and musicians came out of that area. The Brook Benton footage has a lot of legendary musicians that later became known as the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section.

Thanks Spike! That is unbelievable footage confirming what my h ear t already knew ~ that Stax was one of greatest communities of atmosphere out there. When it all couldn't possibly get better (even after the round table staff meeting!) Brook Benton is captured at the end answering the question so well ~ What Is Soul?
Ben Cauley (the black trumpet player) was the only survivor in the crash that killed Otis Redding and Ben's band, the original Bar-Kay's. It was Ben's crazy vibrato trumpet lick that made famous The Bar-Kay's smash hit "Soul Finger". The white trumpet player is Wayne Jackson. He's the leader of the horn section. Him and Andrew Love (tenor sax) were the core Stax, FAME, American, and HI horn team. Wayne and Andrew are literally the most successful post-war horn section in American history.
@zebop hi zebop thank you so much ...I will track this down now I know what to look for
loved rainy night in georgia and bought it when it first came out and somehow missed this and when I looked for other recordings they where always really "nice" and smooth" but not soulful like this .. thanks again....you made my day cheers
Horns, shot inside Isaac's office at Stax in Memphis, are Ben Cauley and Wayne Jackson - trumpet, Ed Logan and Andrew Love - tenor sax, and Isaac Hayes on baritone sax.
Thank you so much spikepriggen for this. The guys playing with Brook at FAME studios were Barry Beckett/piano, Eddie Hinton/ guitar, and Junior Lowe/ bass.
The horn section you see rehearsing at Stax with Isaac Hayes were called The Mar-keys, later to be known as The Memphis Horns. They were the de facto horn section for both Stax AND Fame (Muscle Shoals) at this time. But they are not the Muscle Shoals horn section. They came later in the mid seventies. Confusing enough?
'This is fantastic footage. Thank You!
