...I'm not even anglo-saxon or caucasian/european, but I think the whole multiculturalism and diversity thing is tiring and has been overdone and needs to be pushed aside. Also, diversity is NOT only 1-3 ethnic groups clearly the only ones being seen. That's not diverse or multicultural at all.

Mississauga is a beautiful and succesful city under the guidance of Hazel, god bless her. Melting pot/integration is better than us bending over for other people's ideals. If they dont start integrating, more 'white flight' will occur to the outskirts such as Oakville and Burlington. If Carolyn Parish takes over everyone is screwed... All multiculturalism has got us is Police officers allowed to wear turbans. I'm not racist and I grew up in Mississauga.

Multiculturalism doesn't work and its all about political correctness and we are being forced to live with people we don't want to live with because of an ideal that hasn't worked and will never work. We may work together but we do still prefer to stay with our own ethnic groups. Canada is just a facade and the shit will hit the fan one day. Why is it that the slums of Mississauga are always populated with immigrants. Malton take a look at that place. Crime infested and disgusting.

Question. What evidence do you have that Mississauga (or Peel Regional) is successful as a "cultural mosaic"?

I think one of the great things about Canada and Australia and New Zealand as opposed to the UK and US is that we've focussed on people rather than ideology. Integration is usually an excuse for inaction - making it "their" fault that they're not provided for or are discriminated against because they "won't integrate". My observation is that by third or fourth generation in Canada most young people of ethnic backgrounds have integrated *and* stayed apart in a way which works for them.

Oh come on, she's not criticizing multiculturalism in a negative way. She's merely pointing out that the best way to avoid cultural divisions is to integrate in the sense of focusing on common ground, which is a good thing in my opinion. Mississauga is successful as a cultural mosaic because we look at the general community rather than dividing ourselves based on personal benefit & interests.
