do you ever stop kissing blizzard's ass? I have yet to see one video where you rip into them. The only reason its a good feature is because the game is dying. They should fix that problem instead.
Our main issue was our best players preferring LFG (for the 15%) rather than run with less capable guildies (if you know you're running with less capable people you might as well get the bonus). All that made the guild runs even more of a pain, till everyone preferring guildgroups pretty much quit running dungeons.
I liked the old pre lfg social system becuse a normal social system wont work for alot of ppl in a game like wow becuse most ppl will prob never care about your off the game life and theres not alot to talk about the game..sure u can talk about tacticts and so...but most info u can find at various websites and most ppl will point you towards them. I met all my good ingame friends pre lfg system by puting together grps and getting to know ppl.
The problem isnt that it it is destroying the community its the fact that the LFR/LFG is an enabler. It allows your average trade troll or lazy ass to come in be a dick, or come in no gems/chants or knwo how and get what they want, leave and do it all over again, and thats what makes it shitty. When there was no cross server you got a reputation and if you were an ass time and time again good luck finding a group, but now people are free to be the PoS they alway wanted to be.
ok im level 17 and have a deadmines quest, hey a guildmember is looking for a group for deadmines lets join him and continue questing whiles hes looking for more people to join us, "hours later" great we found enough people for this, shame i almost outleveled it... -.-
That's the fault with the insane exp buffs blizzard has implemented over the last years. I think they've increased the exp rate by over 5 times compared to what it once was. Maybe much higher to be honest. Now you go instances to get the rewards, or to have fun while levelling. Otherwise it's pretty much useless. Farming quests is just so much better.
I actually enjoy the LFR, just a big version of LFG, you don't get the top raiding gear, and you get rather simple points for fun encounters and things that Blizzard wants to show all of it's customers. I enjoy it, even though I may not meet people, and there still is challenge in LFR, I've wiped plenty times on Spine of Deathwing, Yorsahj etc. I give it a thumbs up, just a fun thing to do in between LFG and 10-25 man raids. Good Job Blizz!
But at the same time I never had a real problem finding a group (Even when I wasn't a tank). I mean a few dungeons you had to make a calender event to get in a few.
And LFR lets me see the content, even if I don't get the challenge
That's one thing people dont remember, looking for a group, especially as a new player to the game, was a pain in the ass... LFG isnt really ruining the community, the community is ruining the community. Dont blame other things blizzard implemented, just blame social interaction in general.
It sounds like it was "hard" to get a 5 man back in early wrath or before that, and really before wrath aka TBC and Vanilla it wasn't hard at all since ppl actually wanted to do them!
You could without any problem at all get a group faster then via LFD tool since it usually is about 5-10 min queue.
Granted youd have to go there and summon ppl. but isnt that a good thing?
youd explore more content, gets to see the world instead of standing in what I see as the wow loadingscreen (orgrimmar and SW)
@bebban9292 If you did things during peak playing time, maybe it was fast and easy. If you happened to want to do a dungeon off peak laying time though.. I remember sitting in a group for 45min and even over an hour while the leader spammed /LFG for a tank and healer, just to end up disbanding because no one wanted to join.. There could be lots of groups spamming /LFG, all asking for the same roles..
Sure, it was not "hard" to get a group, sitting around spamming for people for an hour..
I was kind hoping you would touch on how in the way that you will never see these raiders again, there's nothing stopping you from ninja'ing all loot you can roll on. This has happened to me a few times. Death knights rolling on agility, hunters rolling on strength... and these people get away with it, because there is no loot master, and they will likely never see any of these raiders again.
Community is not about keeping a list of people that suck and people who don't. Community is various social interaction between players, not only PvE, not only PvP. Playing an MMO is all about that, not just mushing buttons. The game does not promote social interaction and that is a big problem. There is little to nothing for the community to do altogether in the game(like a world event for example), instead it instances them into smaller group and thats a flaw with the game.
@JustSueMe Meh the classification of a game should be "hey this game is closest to this so we will call it an mmo" not a list of rules that you have to stay within...not all content must be social....
@JustSueMe yeah, i think they keep changing wow more and more into the way i imagine diablo 3 to be. Wonder what will happen once it's out and both games are too similar.
The mechanic used to be that you joined a guild and kept a friends list to make it easier to get groups for raids and instances, this is no longer needed. Not saying it dosnt happen, but it is to a lesser extent.
The Dungeon Finder and LFR systems aren't killing the game. People are crying but most of the time I've noticed that guilds are making use of these systems to fill out 5 mans and raids to counter low attendance or off nights or as a method for of experiencing content and storyline without putting any restrictions on their members save having the iLvl to actually queue up. Overall its a good thing.
Yes, LFG might've hurt the community, but people have to keep in mind that for smaller or unbalanced servers, it was hard finding a group, especially if you were a low level. Half the time I did dungeons, one of the players had to log on his 80 and clear stuff for us just to get the dungeon done.
I seriously don't get why there are so many people playing MMOs as a single player game. I've been in this guild for 7 years, i've had friends for 7 years on my server. I didnt make any friends across server UNTIL LFG came in, i ended up meeting people through LFG, liking them, then making friends with their friends. Its not LFG making their no community its players actually using LFG as a non social player. If you want to make friends in your realm, ask in trade if anyone else wants to come....
I miss tbc when you formed groupds yourself and people didn´t quit dungeons if they were challenging, you tried to figure things out, people want their game handed to them... go watch a movie.
WoW is dying and the final nail in the coffin will be the Pandaria crap a giant panda pff TBC was awesome but since then the game has gone down hill it took ages to get groups and raid but it was satisfying an epic was an epic nowdays everything in the game is given to you and anything else you can buy for real life money.
My pallys old server had a chat channel that a lot of people on sentinels used to find people for groups. I made friends with some people in the top horde raiding guild at the time so I got to do maly before ulduar which was pretty hard to do(on my server at least since they were one of the only guilds that did it).
Well, I agree with some of your points, but disagree with others.
my main issue with LFG and LFR is that it gives people free reign to be complete assholes and they can do it without any repercussions. If you ninja'd an item, it was IMMEDIATELY in trade, saying what an ass you were and you got black listed, simple. But, after LFG, I can still remember a PROT Paladin taking my NES from FoS and calling me a whore when I was like "ummm.... dude?" I feel it destroyed the community, but that's me.
@AshenEdict ninjaing is fairly subjective. i recently won a huge upgrade (one of the last pieces i needed) out of the new 5man heroics, and the other person who rolled against me said i ninjaed it because they wanted it and my 346 blue was better than this 378 purple. fortunately they left group before i had to kick them.
Lore i couldnt disagree more, When they took lobbies out of Socom and made it 100% autofinder it ENTIRELY killed the community 100%.. the game flopped and was the worse socom to hit the stores. i think your view on this subject is flawed
I refuse to acknowledge playing with a bunch of LFG "bots" as a quality experience.
Add to that the current belief "push button, wait X time, do dungeon leave" is severely inhibiting blizzards abilitiy to actually have difficult five mans.
@CaptainApop Clearly you dont understand what WoW players want in a game. they tried to make 5 mans "difficult" again. As a result, they lost 3 million subscribers.
@squirreludecker exactly. Blizz wanted to bring the TBC feel again and made heroics hard. What happened next? a lot of whining. Blizz put out a blog that people should play better use cc's and game mechanics that are availble to them that make the 5 man a lot easier. What happened? even more whining. Then blizz nerfed the hcs.
@Pilek01 Wasn't so much the jump in difficulty. It's the fact that instead of using a stair lvl of difficulty, they used a wall more or less. Majority of people didn't know how to get over it, as opposed to progressing through after a few tries.
@iamevildoctor It's called Megaminx. I have one too. They solve rather similar to the standard 3x3 rubik's cube until you get to the final row. Then they get all sort of crazy. Lore, I am sorry to see you're afflicted with one of them too.
It was a bit of a pain back in the day, but id rather take that pain then go throu the horror that is LFG/LFR. Sure guild was and will always be the way to go. But i miss casual raids/dungeons with randoms having a laugh and making new friends. Oh, and i blame shared lockouts aswell. Casual 10m, Proggresion 25m. I hate wow. And i dont play it anymore. So wtf am i watching vids about wow? o.O
I think my biggest complaint about the LFG system is that Blizzard groups English speaking realms/servers with ones that do not. It makes communication for running things very very tough. I've been the only English speaking person in groups where everyone spoke, spanish or some other form of it.Some of the players are good don't get me wrong but at the same point if they are doing bad you can not give advice on things you've seen, such as standing in the vortex at the end of Grim Batol.
@Sidleyhatesyou I did treated it as such... I PLAY THE GAME! WITH MY FRIENDS both in game and IRL!! So if you play games by yourself every time then your even less social than I am...
Here let me blow all this out of the water for you..
If you are looking for social interaction in World of Warcraft you are a fucking loser who should quit the game right now and go find social interaction in the real world.. WoW is only a game and should be treated as such. It's quite sad how people feel they should have a close group of friends in a game, honestly, pathetic.
@Sidleyhatesyou Not everyone is a social butterfly like yourself. Some seek comfort in friendships online because they don't have the self esteem or courage to go looking for them in the real world. If you're so narrow minded and self centered to think everyone is and should be as openly social as yourself then you sir, are pathetic.
@Sidleyhatesyou The whole idea of on-line gaming seems to be lost on you. I take it you don't use facebook or other social sites either because it's digital in format?Telephones either?Finding a common interest with like minded individuals, building a rapport and, shock horror, maybe a friendship,is no different to any other pass time where interaction with others is needed.Human beings are naturally social creatures no matter the stage or format.Welcome to the 21st century.
@Sidleyhatesyou First of all: Your comment has nothing to do with the message in the video. Second, just because you have friend IRL that doesn't mean you want to group with assholes online. These are still real people you are playing with, which mean they also have the capacity to be a major pain in the neck. Therefore a community is as important in real life as it is online.
You are very poorly informed and should not comment on videos relating to content you are not familiar with.
I've been wanting Blizzard to put in some kind of cross realm friend list to be honest, like a friend list of people from other realms who you can only chat with and run dungeons with, maybe even add something similiar to the Beacon System X box users have recently been blesed with.
Like say I'm 85 and I want to run any heroic with a friend, I set a beacon and it groups me w/ players who have a similiar beacon then we fill in the empty slots with LFG.
I remember the TBC days, when i was around lvl 20, and getting a group together for Deadmines and clearing it took 2 hours and was a huge achievement for me (first dungeon) ^^
You forgot the best part of /2 LFG.... The best part was when you were In Dalaran and you have to go all the way to the dungeon and then... someone had a 60% speed flying mount...... and HE was the one who was going to ho help you summon the rest.... that was always fun also :)
also wow is walking a line. i could see come next year you can just have guilds that are cross server or something. sorry but i was a fan on the server only things.
Back in my day before the LFG/LFR you had tanks who wore tank gear, not queue up in pvp gear(for the extra reward) and then rage at the healer they are bad. PreLFG the community were much more polite and helpful, now people hardly know anyone on their server, there isnt a need to be polite or nice outside of your friends, so people treat others like shit.
I understand the complaints but I think it's an incredibly narrow world view. Mainly because no one is forcing you to do any of this and these things opens the game to those of us who can't (for various reasons) participate in all the game has to offer. Take me. I work a graveyard shift and since I'm on a US server, everything is dead. These things allow to to experience the content. I wish those complainers would stop being so selfish and think about the rest of us... for once.
The note wasn't an addon, Also my server is almost dead on the alliance side but it still has a great community feel as its so empty we still have are little rants in trade and my guild is still great and we have lots of fun
I don't get some arguments. Has one ever bought an FPS game where one had to clear normal mode in order to unlock hardcore? It's the exact same thing. What people are essentially doing is going "I won't buy that game, someone bought it at midnight release and completed it" or "This game comes with easy mode as well as hardcore? It sucks!". DS heroic = 13 days for best guild to clear, BT 11 days. Madness 3 days, Illidan 1 day. Spine of Deathwing 300 attempts, Heroic Lich King 170 attempts.
I was listening intently and agreeing with a load of points made and then I realise you have a unicorn Pillow Pet in the background... we sell them in the art/toy store I work in, I'm not weird for noticing... I hope...
NOTE TO LORE: World of Warcraft is no longer a MMO - Multiplayer?, This is Solo Player Online (SPO) - With the LFR / LFG - No one talks because of all the faceroll. With the Community - No one helps eachother during leveling as quests are also faceroll or people level through PvP and just whine for loosing. So LFR/LFG destroyed the community and all the faceroll.
I found that as I knew a huge amount of people on my server pre 3.3, from guilds, raids and many other things it allowed me to form groups much much quicker than the LFG system nowadays as a DPS.
Anonymity is terrible for the game, I mean as an example within 2 hours everybody on my server knew that a RL had ninja'd the OS3D drake, he ended up going through a name change to play. It helps guilds, it helps you know people on your server.
To me it was the loss of server-only BGs that killed the sense of community on my server. PVPing against a full group of people from your server felt much more meaningful. You can still opt to form 5-mans and raids with people from your server and do PVE content the way you used to do it, but there is no substitute for the PVP rivalries that used to form in Vanilla before cross-realm BGs.
That's why I always look back, why I played WoW and why it was so much fun, was to know the players in your server. Like just getting to the summon stone, get to know everyone. Sure it's easier to get instance and raid done now, but I would trade that in heart beat, for the WoW Community in the old days.
Ive watched your vids for a while and i have to ask....is blizz paying you, you never ever say anything about wow current situation. Boss design sure but most negative stuff you seem to brush under the carpet:O
@gaayfaceultimate He is not being an iirrational fanyboy or hater. He actually puts thought into these and what things mean and there outcome. People have this horrible habbit of looking back on Classic WoW and saying it was the best. Completely overlooking poor game design and issues or what issues people did have in the past they forget when something new comes out and their focus shifts to hatred towards that.
Half the time the WoW community does not know its own head from its tail.
This aren't that different for decent players that aren't socially retarded: u have 4-5 friends on your battle.net (so you can group with them no matter what server are they on) and a couple of buddies on the server so you can do dungeons and 10 man raids with no problems.
1st LFR is bad cause people join that just to get boosted, Lore said the you need to suck pretty badly before you make a difference but if 7-8 dps do 10-12k and 2 healers are afk then you will have a wonderful time there (and i dont get why people are so reluctant to kick slackers)
Don't tell me not to join LFR if i don`t like it cause i already don`t.
I don't get whats the hate for all those new features that makes the game more casual, although they are making more things easier, there are still the hard contents like the heroic modes, its basically making it so that the game has several levels of difficulty,LFR, Guild Normal run,Heroic Guild Runs and such, the better players will still be the ones getting the highest tier of loot so i don't see why people are hating on it. i bet 70% of the haters are casual players who think they are hardcore
I can see into the future, and in about 1 week, there will be a Weekly Marmot, and there will be a retarded looking Rubik Cube on the table... and it will be completed
your hair offends me.

Add to that the current belief "push button, wait X time, do dungeon leave" is severely inhibiting blizzards abilitiy to actually have difficult five mans.
CaptainApop 2 months ago
@CaptainApop Clearly you dont understand what WoW players want in a game. they tried to make 5 mans "difficult" again. As a result, they lost 3 million subscribers.
squirreludecker 2 months ago
@squirreludecker exactly. Blizz wanted to bring the TBC feel again and made heroics hard. What happened next? a lot of whining. Blizz put out a blog that people should play better use cc's and game mechanics that are availble to them that make the 5 man a lot easier. What happened? even more whining. Then blizz nerfed the hcs.
Pilek01 2 months ago

So wtf am i watching vids about wow? o.O
bjay1986 2 months ago
I think my biggest complaint about the LFG system is that Blizzard groups English speaking realms/servers with ones that do not. It makes communication for running things very very tough. I've been the only English speaking person in groups where everyone spoke, spanish or some other form of it.Some of the players are good don't get me wrong but at the same point if they are doing bad you can not give advice on things you've seen, such as standing in the vortex at the end of Grim Batol.

Sidleyhatesyou 2 months ago
@Sidleyhatesyou Not everyone is a social butterfly like yourself. Some seek comfort in friendships online because they don't have the self esteem or courage to go looking for them in the real world. If you're so narrow minded and self centered to think everyone is and should be as openly social as yourself then you sir, are pathetic.
BeoProductions 2 months ago
@Sidleyhatesyou The whole idea of on-line gaming seems to be lost on you. I take it you don't use facebook or other social sites either because it's digital in format?Telephones either?Finding a common interest with like minded individuals, building a rapport and, shock horror, maybe a friendship,is no different to any other pass time where interaction with others is needed.Human beings are naturally social creatures no matter the stage or format.Welcome to the 21st century.
SlenderPie 2 months ago
@Sidleyhatesyou First of all: Your comment has nothing to do with the message in the video. Second, just because you have friend IRL that doesn't mean you want to group with assholes online. These are still real people you are playing with, which mean they also have the capacity to be a major pain in the neck. Therefore a community is as important in real life as it is online.
You are very poorly informed and should not comment on videos relating to content you are not familiar with.
Murderotica89 2 months ago
I've been wanting Blizzard to put in some kind of cross realm friend list to be honest, like a friend list of people from other realms who you can only chat with and run dungeons with, maybe even add something similiar to the Beacon System X box users have recently been blesed with.
Like say I'm 85 and I want to run any heroic with a friend, I set a beacon and it groups me w/ players who have a similiar beacon then we fill in the empty slots with LFG.

I wish those complainers would stop being so selfish and think about the rest of us... for once.

It helps guilds, it helps you know people on your server.

joex90 2 months ago
To me it was the loss of server-only BGs that killed the sense of community on my server. PVPing against a full group of people from your server felt much more meaningful. You can still opt to form 5-mans and raids with people from your server and do PVE content the way you used to do it, but there is no substitute for the PVP rivalries that used to form in Vanilla before cross-realm BGs.
hypext 2 months ago
That's why I always look back, why I played WoW and why it was so much fun, was to know the players in your server. Like just getting to the summon stone, get to know everyone. Sure it's easier to get instance and raid done now, but I would trade that in heart beat, for the WoW Community in the old days.
OrezTheRice 2 months ago
Ive watched your vids for a while and i have to ask....is blizz paying you, you never ever say anything about wow current situation. Boss design sure but most negative stuff you seem to brush under the carpet:O
gaayfaceultimate 2 months ago

2nd This is a MMO, if you don`t like putting an effort in grouping with people then you should go play some single player stuff.
poe2000ro 2 months ago
1st LFR is bad cause people join that just to get boosted, Lore said the you need to suck pretty badly before you make a difference but if 7-8 dps do 10-12k and 2 healers are afk then you will have a wonderful time there (and i dont get why people are so reluctant to kick slackers)
Don't tell me not to join LFR if i don`t like it cause i already don`t.

LFR would be useful for learning mechanics, if you couldn't just ignore all the boss mechanics without penalty.
Gr0undMaster 2 months ago
I don't get whats the hate for all those new features that makes the game more casual, although they are making more things easier, there are still the hard contents like the heroic modes, its basically making it so that the game has several levels of difficulty,LFR, Guild Normal run,Heroic Guild Runs and such, the better players will still be the ones getting the highest tier of loot so i don't see why people are hating on it. i bet 70% of the haters are casual players who think they are hardcore
