Both shots are technically flawed, but Serena's is a better stroke than Dinara's. Safina's stroke is so long, that if Safina wants to ever be a factor on a fast surface she needs to trim down the backswing. Because she has a western grip, Safina has to have a long backswing in order to hit a flat shot. Serena's contact point isn't consistent, but when that shot's on it's her best friend.
