@FmasterJG They're Railroaders, made by Wabash and owned by Triple Crown. Those 53' trailers are spec'd to ride the rails like so. Its air ride suspension allows for rail and road operations at the push of a button and sits comfortably right on the dollies
Considering the extremely short reaction time that the driver would have needed to stop WITHOUT GETTING STUCK ON THE TRACKS (?2.5 seconds?) it might be better to say that the driver did the appropriate thing by getting beyond the tracks before the train got there.
If the driver had tried to stop before crossing the tracks and had stalled out by stopping so quickly that bus could have stalled on the tracks that bus could now be somebody's coffee table.
@nudist0885 All school busses in the United States are required by law to stop BEFORE traversing any railroad crossing (unless it is marked Exempt) to verify the tracks clear and that there is no danger. This rule is in effect whether there are children present on the bus or not. This law exists for some very good reasons. This school bus did not stop. The driver should be fined and ticketed--no Ifs, Ands, or Butts.
My better half and I both drove school bus and had to cross Conrail/CSX tracks. Failure to stop put you right onto the unemployment line!

Bushould come to complete stop at any railroad crossing and open doors and look - in case the grade crossing signals fail to operate.
Upon signal activation, this bus had no time to stop and should have continued across just as it did.
They should start gates lowering SIX seconds after crossing signal activation to allow tractor trailer rig trailers to clear and not break gates.

@Kevico24Railfan even if it was, the bus still should stop, even if those kids are late for school. Better to be safe than sorry.

@Kevico24Railfan If it wasn't, I bet the bus driver was yelling: Got to get to the next crossing to film this roadrailer!
