And AI controlled battleships aren't stationary, they patrol territories and respond to enemy threats. Factions occasionally invade each other out of the blue, so epic capital ship clashes like in this video does sometimes just happen without any player involvement.
There is a bomber class, some of the torpedoes/missiles you can get on a bomber class dwarf destroyers and carriers in shear power. Expensive however.

@norwayboy15 you can fly capitals...and you can control a fleet...but in the beginning for a long time you are flying one ship....btw very STEEP learning curve(more than EVE online OMG 0.o) with pretty much unlimited hours of gameplay.....(its sandbox so there no end...you just decide if you built enough factories complexes, military and wealth...)
10/10 very nice had a fight a few days ago I had 3x Raptors 80x Eclipse Fighters 20x Nova Vanguard 2x Titans VS 1x Kha'ak Carrier 2x Kha'ak Destroyer Around 12x Kha'ak Fighter My whole Fleet Died And i only destroyed the carrier....
@kilmindaro3 its because their usually too big and small fighters easilly out manuver them (proven in star wars) they usually have one big cannon that has to recharge for a while and not alot of other defences other than the rest of their fleet. thus the colossus's fall.
@LordTyrannus Not nearly as long as this video. They usually end fast because weapons are far more powerful (combine with the amount of turrets) the shields and hull can withstand. And if you play for long enough you would notice how dumb the AI can get further in the game.
@LordTyrannus Pretty spectacular. The biggest fight I've been in had about 8 capital ships and 40 fighters or so against 6 capital ships and i don't remember how many fighters. It's simply scary having so many massive ships flying around shooting at each other and lasers going everywhere.
How do you command the ships to do things like that (fly along side the colossus in formation, etc.)? I can't find any tutorials on advanced ship commands, so I just have to tell the ships to follow me or whatever and they just fly circles around me and it looks stupid, not badass.
X3TC, god love this game, but damn it suck computer power... I can play it fine until I start getting a massive fleet, usualy got a million traders going, and well then my system start to bog down and after a while my computer blows up :D

@pacloro Not bullets, likely either Electron Bolt Chainguns (for the capships) or Mass Drivers (for the fighters). And let's face it...as long as you can supply your ships with the ammo, they're more effective than most laser-based weaponry.

I'd love to see a few M1's, with m2/m7/m8 support go at it. That could get truly epic. If fighters drop the frame rate down, then removing the M1's, or limiting them, and just having a massive capital ship battle would be equally epic.
/Besides, we all know the m3's are fodder in fleet engagements, even if they're the biggest of the fighters.
A Colossus has no chance against a Split M1. Out-gunned, outmaneuvered.
A Colossus might have more fighters, but the Raptor has Rails and is the fastest and most agile M1 in the game, which is why they are my primary carriers.
(Too bad carriers are a waste)

WOW how epic especially with that music. The colossus herself had stumbled upon a no win situation and even though she had the chance of jumping out to escape it chose to remain and stand her ground. She didn't think retreat, she never cared about being out numbered, over powered or outgunned, she fought with bravery and honour till the very end, probably knowing "this will be my last battle" there's no turning back never say NEVER! I definitely won't forget her name she did the argon proud. RIP
I would love to play this game. Only if it wasn't so damn complicated. Seriously i find EVE online easier then this, i still try to learn from time to time, though i always end up bashing my head against the wall, but in the end i will learn, i hope.

@Marinealver I think the poster said the attackers were the Split. The Khaak are powerful against other ships, but rarely attack with capital ships they usually are found defending their own sectors, but only send out fighters to attack other sectors, except for one time in the game, their fighters wouldn't stand much chance against this carrier with its escorts, maybe they could defeat a carrier if it had no escorts but... the escorts are the carriers might.
Ok question about his game. Can you pilot the large capital ships or are you just stuck in a fighter. Heard this is the best sandbox style open space game out there, but I want a game where I can also command some bad ass ships.
I wish there was a mod that made this not be a FPS any more. I like my FPS to be like battlefield series and my space games more like EVE and Nexus the jupitor incedent. Player controled pilots are prety much wirthless in the X series never have been able to get them to kill anything. other than me at a gate.

OMG just saw the G4TV review of this game. A guess the "Bad Guys" here is the alien Kaa'ahk. These guys really seem like a bunch of dicks too.

@Marinealver I think the poster said the attackers were the Split. The Khaak are powerful against other ships, but rarely attack with capital ships they usually are found defending their own sectors, but only send out fighters to attack other sectors, except for one time in the game, their fighters wouldn't stand much chance against this carrier with its escorts, maybe they could defeat a carrier if it had no escorts but... the escorts are the carriers might.

in any case... X3 Reunion is awesome, I almost dare not imagine how badly my brains would explode if I got hold of Terran Conflict :D

Ok question about his game. Can you pilot the large capital ships or are you just stuck in a fighter. Heard this is the best sandbox style open space game out there, but I want a game where I can also command some bad ass ships.

I wish there was a mod that made this not be a FPS any more. I like my FPS to be like battlefield series and my space games more like EVE and Nexus the jupitor incedent. Player controled pilots are prety much wirthless in the X series never have been able to get them to kill anything. other than me at a gate.

Don't be disappointed . To create such a huge fleet many water in the rivers pass away.
Also everything in this game is such a pain in the ass if it comes to control fleet trade etc.. etc..
Scripts are the answer,however it's still rage inducing piece of spacesim.
But if you are patient guy, go for it.

So Im looking for a game like this but you either control 1 or a couple ships up close and control different systems on the ship like put more power to the fron sheilds or have a panel to manually fire some weapons any suggestions?
