Japanese pottery?? Really? I hope a master potter from Japan comes and slaps you upside the head with clay. It's about sitting and relaxingly throwing the clay and what you make is what you make... Not "ripping" the clay.
yeah so normally i start with 10 pounds to make a tea cup and then i trim of 5 ponds unevenly thats a fucking gorgeous pot look at that master bitches
this guy has to be one of the worst potters i have ever seen, his tea bowls probably weigh about 35lbs hahaha look how thick that shit is HAHAHA what a joke, he thinks he is so pro at throwing. i dont even know why he bothered buying a wheel
this video is hilarious. some of the funniest commentary I've seen in a pottery video. the fact is, 50% of all the pottery that's out there is no better than this. this guy probably sells tons of shit.
This is not a good video to learn from. I appreciate that the guy wants to share his art with the world. However, this pot was poorly made and would not be very functional. I suggest looking elsewhere for training videos.
This is not a good instructional video for traditional Japanese ceramics. It isn't traditional in any way. I have watched masters throw and this isn't even close. The lip of the cup alone makes this piece unusable. There are probably some other videos here on youtube with better information. Keep searching.
this is your own personal style/twist on Japanese teabowls. However you should not be claiming that this is Traditional Japanese teabowl throwing. part of that tradition is thta the clay forms into a teabowl somewhat naturally with very little influence from the potter, you have a very contradictory take on this style of pottery. Don't get me wrong I have respect for what your doing you really should call it traditional japanese pottery though, Sorry.
i hope your dumbass doesnt do this as a profession b/c you will not be successful. excuse my language but youre a prick you fucking joke.

Total joke. I can't believe this guy got on expertvillage! :O
And yeah, it'll take a couple weeks to fire in that anagama for sure, he'd have to go up 10 degrees an hour for it not to explode! hahaha

try Cory Lum's video on tea bowls. I also have a tea bowl video. I am not an "expert", however.

This guy is a joke "rip it" what a load of HORSES***T
He is a total amateur.
Master potters would unconsciously throw and be totally in tune with the clay.
Also the lip would be too thick to comfortably drink out of for sure.
He is no expert people like this wind me up!

I can tell this guy is professional. And for people who don't really understand ceramics art, don't event leave negative comments.
tbtb27 2 years ago
whats with all of the ripping
i am a trade potter and have met afew japanese masters
and watched them work
they do take care to center before taking the clay off center and opening but not ripping
i watched an old man spend half an hour adding and removing clay to a teabowl and letting it flow
please people
do your homework before making vids

Hi. These look like good enough instructional videos, but could you number them please?

Why all the negative comments? Here someone is sharing their knowledge for probably little or no pay and all you people do is criticize. Get a life.
