  • He seems to really really want Greg to give him kisses xD

  • we have a quaker and a conure

and my daughter has been told she can get her own bird and i think we

going to go with a senegal

do you think thats a good choice

  • @zomBDeath61

If you get a Senegal my advice would be to get one from a reputable breeder and not a Petstore. The good breeders make sure that the birds are well socialized and are medically sound. Senegals are great birds. I have five of them. One thing to know about them, they typically bond to one person only and they choose who it is. So, just because your daughter gets a Senegal it might not mean that he will bond with her when he gets a bit older. Just something to keep in mind. :)

  • @sootykitty hi impresive parrot.

A pet store told me that sells senegal parrots for about 100 euros=150 usd.Is this right? because I heard that are more expensive?do you know how much?

  • do Senegals scream much louder than Green Cheek Conures?

  • @randompolo

I think they do. Others may disagree, but I have five of them. Perhaps with one alone it would be different. Mine tend to try to out-scream the others. But, that isn't the whole picture either. As with all birds, they can scream. Just to varying degrees. I hope that answers your question. If not, just write me again. Thanks for watching my video. :)

  • @randompolo Hi. I have had a female senegal parrot since 2000 and she is generally a quiet bird. She makes most of her noise in the morning and evening. She takes a siesta in the afternoon. I have been trying to retrain my parrot to NOT shriek when she can't see me by giving her praise when she is quiet. We'll see how it goes.

  • these senegal parrot have bad behavior they like to bite ppl and stuff....thats why i keep mine in the cage...on thing i can tell ppl they like habanero peppers!!

  • @exzt212

I'm sorry that you feel that way about your bird. I have 5 Senegals, and none of them have bad behavior. I work with them all the time, and try to understand what they need in order to be happy. Caging a bird all the time will not help, but only add to behavior problems such as biting. It makes the bird cage agressive, and then it will bite. I feel bad for you, and mostly for your poor bird that is only it's cage. How sad for you both.

  • @exzt212

there's no such thing as a bad pet, only a bad owner

  • @exzt212

Robbie had been caged a lot when he was at his previous owners. He was very aggressive when he came to our family but hard work, patience and a strong will let him become tame in the end. He still bites but he never bites me. We didn't get him to accept a partner though and now he is old and blind and can't fly because he's a feather plucker too. But we never, ever caged him only when he was still able to fly and we left the house.

  • @exzt212 I also have a Senegal Parrot and he is so sweet. He doesnt bite very often and when he does its more so just to get your attention and not to hurt you. I have never been bitten hard by him. He is very sweet and cuddly. I agree with Sootykitty keeping your bird caged will only add to your problems. If you start working with your bird you will see the behavior problems go away and you will find these birds are very great pets and more so friends/family members. give him a chance!!!

  • smart parrot

  • I have a senegal and it is only doing the sexy whistle sound. Lots going on in the home and it gets out allot, bites when it can get away with it with the children and strangers. It was hatched on May 5th 2010, Does anyone know the developmental milestones of Senegals? I am a little confused about training. Maybe we just need to be patient. We r working on playing dead, tumbling, and shake is good already. would love to share more with the senegal owners

  • @misszazu2

You have a pretty young Senegal. Should be easy to train out the bratty behavior. I have 5 Senegals & all are different with behavior. Have you ever seen Michael's training videos? He's one of the best, he owns a Senegal and best of all he's free! Look up Kili Parrot on here, and see his website for more information. Or you can send me a private message and I can try to help you out. Senegals are wonderful birds. Like all parrots, some talk and some don't.

  • wow! and most of what she says is really clear! my bother's bird tenshi only says "hey baby". lol

  • aww its saying scooby do and gimme kiss

  • scooooby-do <3 adorable

  • hey i am considering getting one of these awesome birds. how are their dispositions, and are they noisy ? thanks for any info.

  • @AsEOfSp8dES14

They are wonderful birds. They love to play, and are very devoted to their owner. I have 5, each has a distinct personality all it's own. Some talk, some don't. That is true of any parrot. Lolly is special and has a remarkable vocabulary that is not traditionally seen in Senegals. I don't find them to be noisy if they have enough out of cage time and plenty of toys and activities to keep them busy. Visit kiliparrot on YouTube to see what a trained Senegal is able to do.

  • @sootykitty hey thanks for the feedback. I know that getting a parrot is a big commitment and takes a lot of devotion. Im going to think it through a little more and when/if i get a bird the senegal is definitely my choice!

  • @AsEOfSp8dES14 Well i have one and i can say that they mostly do good sounds and that aren't noisy but they can also be very noisy but thats not constant like i said they do it sometimes and it might be like 4 times a day not much i recomend you get one they good i just learned mine to talk

  • hmmmm. nice.

  • How long can senegal parrot's live?

  • @lemurfan123

Their life expectancy average is 25. Long time commitment to have one of these birds, or any other parrot for that matter. Something to really consider when thinking about adding a bird to your family.

  • Awesome! so they CAN talk!

  • @lemurfan123

Yep, they sure can. I have five now. Each one of them talks. Not as well as Lolly, but they all vocalize. I love these little guys. Their personalities are wonderful. They are incredibly entertaining, too.

  • so this is a female parrot? I heard they're not as good talkers as males. i guess she's an exception!

  • How sweet! Any suggestions on video-ing a parrot who won't talk while you're in the room?

  • Thanks for the nice comment. The best way I know of is to set your camera up where it is on your bird, turn it on, and then leave the room. You'll probably capture something. You might have to try it a few times until the bird gets used to seeing the camera. Good luck!

  • This is my senegal's, Reba, favorite video, she listens to it every morning. Thanks for posting.

  • whats a good age to buy a senegal at?? cuz i am thinkin of getin mine in the next couple of days

  • The younger the better. Especially if you don't have any parrot experience. Where are you getting your Senegal? A breeder, rescue, petstore, or ? I have 5 Senegals, so let me know if I can help you in any way. They are excellent little parrots, very comical and fun. Check out my other videos to see some of them in action. Each one has a distinct personality. Good luck with the new bird that you get. I hope the best for you and him/her.

  • @sootykitty where do i find a good breeder? I miss mine we had a terrible accident here. I miss my Zazu.

  • how much are senegal parrots ?

    just the bird alone

  • Anywhere from $200 to $500 depends on whether or not it is an adult or a baby. Rescue birds may be less as an adoption fee. Please consider when thinking about a rescue bird, hat they may not be for a first time bird owner because they might have issues that only can be dealt with by an experienced person. I have 5, all rescues, and each one came with "baggage" from previous experiences with former owners, or home environments. So, I am speaking directly from my personal experiences.

  • i got mine for 1000$ canadian

  • i love this video! i have one, he'll be 4 on halloween. he talks so well and clear. he says countless phrases the only problem is...he only does it when he thibks he's all alone. still he's adorable

  • How cute! Sennies are so much fun, but I'm sure you know that. You'll have to secretly get a video him when he isn't looking.

  • ive got one of these as well hes 3 months. whats the best way to teach them to talk?

  • Honestly, the best way is to talk to him. They pick up what they like, so trying to "teach" them something may or may not work. Lolly picks up things that he hears me and others in the family say on a regular basis. He seems to like things that have an excited tone to them. Most birds do. You can see what I mean by watching my videos of Ozzy, my baby African Grey. Good luck with your little Senegal. I just love them. They're so comical and loving. I have six and love to watch them play.

  • Thanks! He's screaming a lot more than usual nowadays and now hes trying to say 'Hello' Can't wait for him to start talking...

  • that looks likea very roomy cage. what kind is it?

  • I don't know what kind it is because it was a custom made cage that I bought from someone on Craigslist. It is really a great cage. Wish I could get others like it for my other six parrots.

  • What a sweetie pie.I have a Sennie, too, named Desmond, and every time I try to show him any videos of Sennies,he bites the snot out of me.He thinks another bird is in the house, and he is very jealous.

  • Oh, I know what you mean. I have five Sennies and an African Grey. Things get pretty tense from time to time. But, I wouldn't trade one of my Sennies for anything. They're marvelous birds, so playful, with great personalities. But, you already know that. ;)

  • My Sennie says "sweebie" the same way. He is absolutely facinated by your bird. I think that watching other Sennie videos helps his vocabulary along. Very cute bird, I love the video, too!

  • What a smart bird! He's a very good talker. Senegal parrots always look extremely excited and wound-up just because of those yellow eyes. LOL Lolly's voice sounds quite a bit like my brown-headed parrot's voice. :D

  • He sounds like my birds! I have a Senegal who has a pretty good vocabulary too, not as extensive as yours, though.

  • OMG...I played this for my Senegal and his eyes fully dialated and his feathers all poofed out...lol...Poor BamBam thought there was another bird in the house!!

  • Wow - that's great! He has a wonderful vocabulary. Mine is 9 years old and just 3 months ago he finally said his name (Gizmo). He'd been mumbling for quite awhile before that.

I love it when they get in a loop. My cockatiel does that and I can't help but laugh.

  • hi, i just wanted to ask, how long did you have your parrot for before he spoke and also is it a senegal?

  • Yes, Gizmo is a Senegal and he was nearly 9 years old before he could say "hello" clearly enough that I could understand him. He now says "Gizmo" also. Oddly enough it's much easier to understand my Cockatiel and Budgie than it is my Senegal. Go figure...:)

  • I meant to say we got Giz when he was only a couple of months old...so I had him almost 9 years before his "mumbles" got clear enough to understand. I didn't care if he ever talked though...he's my little clown and I love him.

  • Lolly was on a loop for a while..reminds me of my Shade.

I really wonder why he/she picked up Scooby doo.

  • Lolly came to me with quite a vocabulary. He seems to get into the "loops" often. I think he just likes the way it sounds. Don't know where he picked up the Scooby Doo from, but he really likes that one! Would love to hear your Shade go through his vocabulary too. I just love these Poicephalus birds. They're such characters.

  • Fantastic! My 2 1/2 year old jabbers constantly but I can only understand a few words.

  • i like that is coool i have one also there but not to much talking like yours

  • how much time did it take for him to speak

  • I'm not sure when he spoke his first word because I got him when he was two years old and he had quite a large vocabulary then. He picks up things pretty easily though because he learned a few words the first month I got him. Sometimes he goes on rants, but he understands words and uses them correctly too. When he wants to share something that you're eating he will say, "here." I guess the former owner said that to him when he was given food. He's a great little guy and I'm lucky to have him

  • Cute, love it, thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for sharing! Great vid.

  • How cute - what a talker. I like your cage. It seems very spacious. I am looking to upgrade - What kind is it?

  • Thanks, I think he's pretty cute too. I'm not sure what kind the cage is because I bought it second hand off of Craigslist. Got it for a steal too at only $100 bucks. Do you have a Sennie too?

  • I currently have two cockatiels - both 20 years old. I have been looking for a Senegal I just don't know if it's going to cause any stress with the two old guys or not.

  • Hi, I am looking to buy a cage. Just wondering what your bar spacing is and if you are comfortable with it. Can your Sennie slip through? I have a Meyers. you can see his videos if you follow my account.

  • The spacing is 1" and he doesn't even try to get out through the bars. It is a really large cage. It measures 42" wide by 6' tall by 24". I was very lucky because I picked it up for only $130 on Craigslist from a guy who had a cockatoo in it. Lolly likes to be in high places so he only uses the top of the cage where the dome is. The things we do for our birds. LOL

  • Those are the same measurements I am looking at as well. Thanks for input. It is very helpful. Love your Sennie! Scuby Doo, and Kimme a Kiss are adorable!

  • he really likes the "gimmie a kiss" one, doesn't he? cute stuff! thanks for sharing.
