A couple of my best friends met Amy Lee backstage at an Evanescence show a few years ago, back when there was the old line up. She was incredibly rude to them, and when they asked her for an autograph she wrote them a really nasty note instead. Sad.
I think she's a nice person. I don't know her but a lot of people who do know her think very highly of her. Even if you don't know a celebrity, you can still take them as a role model. You're not saying you know everything about them, but what you do know of them you like. Haters will always make up crap, but that doesn't make it true.

If you look at Heavy Metal bands who are far from commercial, you'll see a difference in how these performers treat their fans. Even bigger bands like Sabbath and Maiden have far more respect for their fans than most people who are in the mainstream.

I agree with you! Unless we spent a lot of time with her, we don't know what she's really like. I do know that I love her music, and that after nearly giving up at piano lessons, I started playing again because I wanted to learn Evanescence songs. Also, there are alot of people who love her who don't want to hear anything bad about her...but I'm sure there are times when she can be a bitch. Everyone has that potential. In general though, I get the feeling she probably isn't. She might get bitchy with her music, since she said she can often be a control freak with the whole process of creating music. She knows what she wants, and is probably a perfectionist. If that makes her cranky and bitchy at times, I totally get that.

I've been following Evanescence's career since before Origin was even released, and I PERSONALLY think Amy is a two-faced bitch. Also, there are alot of people who love her who don't want to hear anything bad about her...but I'm sure there are times when she can be a bitch. Everyone has that potential. In general though, I get the feeling she probably isn't. She might get bitchy with her music, since she said she can often be a control freak with the whole process of creating music. She knows what she wants, and is probably a perfectionist. If that makes her cranky and bitchy at times, I totally get that.

It's not THAT defensive. She's telling you this because even if Amy Lee does treat people unkindly at times, nobody really knows what's going on with her behind closed doors. Say you wait for her after a concert and when she comes out, she gets annoyed and tells you to leave. That might not be a random act of bitchiness - she could have had an argument over a mistake someone made when they were on stage and be in a bad mood. What you see isn't everything about her.

Although her profession puts her in the spotlight, after touring, etc. these people are exhausted not to mention they're in a rush to get to the next location.
