  • Switching FINGERS!! Apparently this is a tiring procedure.. hah

  • This is NOT a good way to do this.

    1. Do NOT wash the filter from the outside in. Always wash clean to dirty side.

    2. Do NOT put so much oil on the filter. It only needs a light but complete oiling. The filter shown should only use about 10-12 ml of oil. Looks more like 20+ml was used in the video. This WILL get on your MAF sensor and you will be replacing it ASAP.

For future reference, if your going to show a "HOW TO" please know how to do it correctly.

  • Aren't you supposed to run the water from the inside (clean side) out???

  • @cumminscrazy30 Yes you are

  • no way that would dry in 15 mins, my one took hours in the hot sun

  • or just buy a new factory filter

  • may be a dumb question but if u dont have those sprays can you just clean it with water?

  • @anthonee03 You'd want to re-oil it for sure. Just stop being cheap and buy the sprays!

  • carb cleaner dose the same job

  • Under normal conditions, How often should you clean and re-oil a K&N air filter?

  • Last step: Get your ass kicked for doing this in your bathroom sink.

  • Oh shit that filter was filthy!

  • @pickmelter38 lol

  • Takımı 65TL, bir temizlemeye 1 kutuyu bitirdin be abicim...

  • thats kind of a small filter. what kind of car do you have it on?

  • that index finger is a warrior,so is that thumb

  • Damn your the spray king kns filters !!!

  • It looked like disease in your sink when you first rinsed it.

  • Oh dear. You are supposed to run the water from the inside of the filter to the outside. All you have done is push the dirt deeper in to the filter. Filter still looked damp when you applied the oil (which you also used far too much of). This is how to RUIN a K&N air filter.

  • 101 thousand views because of the Tetris soundtrack. EXCELLENT choice! :)

  • When you rinse the filter make sure the water is directed from the clean side ( inside the cone in this case) to the dirty side. Otherwise you force the dirt deeper into the filter. Air dry the filter until it is completely dry. This will take a good part of ta day. Do not use a dryer or leave in the hot sun. This guy's procedure is a sure fire way to ruin your filter and get dirt into your engine.

  • Damn!!

  • you don't need to use that much cleaner bro lol

  • Your mom use it to strain coffee or something??

  • your sink sucks ass

  • BP would be proud of you cause all that sht is going to the ocean

  • You didn't do one thing right when cleaning your filter.

  • @mekalis69 I'd be glad if you would show us how to do it properly, mister tiger woods jr.

  • you wife is gonna kill you when she see wut you haave done in her sink

  • wash your hands bro.

  • You are supposed to rinse the filter from the inside out (Clean to Dirty side)

  • If you drop your tooth bursh in there....leave it in there. :s

  • next video "HOW TO UN CLOG YOUR DRAIN" lol

  • @rudybo0oty this take for ever i would just go by a new filter simple

  • THANK YOU!! Now I know how to clean my air filter! Why can't all the how to videos on youtube be as good and simple as this??

  • All that oil filter spray is really going to clog up your MAF quick.

  • You don't need to use that much cleaner!

  • My wife would kill me if I tried this in our bathroom.

  • Tetris music can make anything sound fun...

"Hey want to go change the oil?"

    "nahhh."

    Dum dada dum dada dum...."

    "On second thought......."

  • @Callabretto That really made me laugh... Thanks!

  • Hey your suppose to rinse water from the inside out... just sayin!

  • You definitely need to clean that wayyyyy more often

  • (Squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt) *grunt* "Getting...tired" *switch to thumb* (Squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt) "...tired again" *switch to index* (Squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt squirt)

  • wife walks in and says what the fuck are you doing? this is where we brush our teeth!!!

  • I can't believe that with all the negative comments about the obvious mistakes in this procedure that ZERO hasn't removed this video. He needs to read the directions that came with his K & N cleaning kit, and then clean his filter out in the garage instead flushing solvents down the drain.

  • @75t150 Less QQ, more pew pew

  • sexy air filter cleaner!

  • The music is Russian & the 1st tune is "Karobushka."

    I'm a musician & own a K&N AIR FILTER.

  • You run the water from the inside/clean side.

  • Sexy hand veins

  • and kids? dont do this in your mums fucking sink or you will be owned!

  • too much filter oil is a known cause of the MAF sensor wires fouling up

  • wow, when I did mine, I applied cleaner 3 times, made the filter nearly white. and waited a full day before I applied the oil.... and applied a WHOLE lot more oil... it's still dripping oil and haven't installed it yet.

  • way to much oil, and you should wait longer than 15 mins after you wash

    but nice music

  • damn't the cleaner smells like fish!

  • damn't the cleaner smiles like fish!

  • lol can i just throw it in the dishwasher?

  • @killerkrab42 lol no

  • Helpful. Thanks

  • awesome tunes

  • did you bake that filter or something?

  • Are you not supposed to wait until the filter is dry before applying the oil?

  • good thing your mom lets you use the sink !

& that mario music has to go dude !

  • Holy crap, you used SOOO much oil... I used maybe HALF of that and killed my MAF sensor the first time I cleaned mine :(

  • Dont let you mom or wife see ya clean the filter in the sink cuz they will blow their top!

  • Where's the missing part of the video where his Mama flips the fuck out and kicks his ass for using the bathroom sink? Son R U Retarded? BEEM, BOOM, BAAM ...!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Thx Zero this helped a lot

  • the music's made me feel so sleepy somehow...

  • FAIL!!!!!!!!

  • great fukin video

  • that filter was dirty as shit!

  • I hope that filter already came brown or you could use a new one.

  • This video is ALL wrong!

First off he cleans the filter from the outside in, should be from the INSIDE out.......then it takes LONGER than 15 minutes for them to dry....mine took an hour in the HOT 90 degree sun.

THEn he puts WAAAAAY too much OIL on the filter.....on a car with a map sensor the sensor would fail.,

DO NOT CLEAN YOUR K&N's LIKE THIS!

  • @455Transam Your stupid, putting too much oil is better than putting not enough oil. It's better and doesn't have an effect except it might affect the next time he has to change his air filter but better then the bike engine breaking.

  • @rjc0l3 No you're an IDIOT....the bike engine won't "break" and too much oil is NOT "better"....ask K&N the manufacturer of the filter!

  • @455Transam Your a retard, you are just retarded lol. Where does K&N's Manufacture say that? hmm? Where?

  • @rjc0l3 Do some research Moron it's YOUR vehicle....follow his instructions if you want!!

  • I'm pretty sure on the instructions it says depending on how dirty it is you should repeat steps 1 and 2..... You probably should have done that sir. lol

  • Thanks for the instruction, but I don't think it is very Eco friendly dumping the chemicals down the drain.

  • 2nd music is from lvl2 tetris...love it.

  • 7 dislike don't know how to drive a car.

  • if your air filter looks like that after 10k you might want to shorten your interval

  • tetris theme is my ringtone so i just was like wtf is going on

  • Why do you have to let the filter sit and dry...why cant you blow dry it? Hmmm? I always just buy a new filter have the technician change it and then Im off...but gas prices are HIGH so now Im thinking of just washing to SAVE $...

  • thanx for the vid. I went out and did mine right after watching. lol

  • GOOD Video

  • bad instructions

it should be hosed from in

    ugly sink >lol

  • should probably use gloves when u do that

  • Zero2242 and Importracer4life69 are talking about tetris music and playing tetris..NERD ALERT!! ...Someone need to "get some"..LOL.

  • A major mistake in this video is in the rinsing. You should always at least start the rinsing from the inside out. It's much more efficient to rinse the particles out the same way they came in. If you want to rinse the outside, at least do it after you've rinsed most of most of the dirt from the inside out. I always start spraying the cleaner from the inside out also. This helps remove and push the particles in the direction you want them to go. All this is in the instructions in the kit.

  • @salttram1 Yup, now he moved all his dirt to the inside. Also, if you dont let it dry ALL THE WAY, it will damage you MAF sensor. Too much oil will also damage trhe MAF sensor. So, from inside out! Let it dry! light oil.

  • Thanks buddy. That was cool.

  • Since dirt goes from the outside in you should clean it from the inside out. Just a TIP to get it even cleaner next time!!

  • your moms gonna be mad about all that dirt in her sink...

  • Um ya your supposed to rinse from the inside (clean side) out.....

  • can you do this with just soap and water? and what happens if i dont use the oil any alternatives?

  • Ok vid, well not really because you are actually supposed to rinse the filter from the inside out NOT from the outside in. If you rinse from the outside in, you are pushing dirt deeper into your filter. If you rinse from the inside out, you are rinsing the dirt out of your filter instead of pushing dirt back into you filter. Also, It takes a couple of hours for the filter to dry, NOT 15 mins. And lastly, the guy in this vid put way too much oil on the filter, you only need a light coating

  • @theREALnizzle<----- You should make a video on how to do it properly. :/

  • comedown you amost lose some beef

  • and the wife/girlfriend ahs you sleeping on couch for a week afterward

  • btw you should let the filter DRY ALL THE WAY before applying the oil... not in the sink

  • Instantly knew it was tetris (nes version) other than that... Dude ... your suposed to wear rubber gloves when you use degreasers.

that shit can remove fat from your skin and leave your fingers all crusty... I know because it happened to me like 13years ago, took a year for my hands to heal.

  • bet mom loves you very much!!!!

  • the background music makes me wants to play tetris :\

  • @importracer4life69 wow ur the only one that figured out that the music is from tetris u get an A+

  • @zero2242 ahaha thanks, very good video btw (:

  • @zero2242 hell yah gameboy tetris is the shit

  • @zero2242 ... you can't be serious about no one relating this music to tetris...

  • @zero2242 why u hatin

  • @importracer4life69 makes me wanna play zelda kinda

  • This is all wrong, never rinse the outside first. Rinse from the inside as the dirt will be stuck on the outside. Rinsing the outside pushes grime into the inside of the filter and then fills the inside of the cone with dirt. no need to spray the inside, the cleaner will soak into the cloth. Also i use this kit on my Injen intake and it works just fine!

  • kind of sick brushing your teeth in the same sink

  • @joetierra1

He doesn't lick the sink when he is done brushing does he?

  • @joetierra1

He doesn't lick the sing when he is done brushing does he?

  • @ThirdgenTa im just saying what if the toothbrush feel in the sink

  • @ThirdgenTa im just saying what if the toothbrush fell in the sink

  • I have had mine on my Silverado for Three years. I suppose it's time to clean it... I bought the cleaner when I bought the K&N. I have a mission to compete now!

  • jesus what were you filtering with that thing coffee?!?!

  • Good video, except rinse off air filter with cool low-pressure water from the clean side out in order to flush the dirt out of the filter.

  • this video is so helpful. Thankyou very much :)

  • nice jew music

  • helpful vid, thanks.

i would imagine i can use this kit for the cone filter on my injen CAI?

  • @vda1288 Im pretty sure you can, I actually have a K & N filter on my injen intake (bought car used, so I didnt mix and match myself) so I'm pretty sure the filters are basically the same, then again I could be completely wrong

  • helpful vid, thanks.

i would imagine i can use this kit for the cone filter on my injen CAI?

  • Straight and to the point! Great Video! going to try it out right now =)

  • Tetris!!! 98'

  • this music reminds me of the gameboy pokemon

  • Should have rinsed from the inner side, not the outside like was done in this video. By washing the outer portion dirt was just pushed into the inner portion of the filter.

  • wow this is really helpful. Thanks for posting it. I need to recharge my Blasters K&N filter and this helped

  • Thank you, I didn't have a clue where to start. I've never owned a filter like this and I was not sure what how to go about doing it, after asking a dozen auto places if they would clean it and hearing NO, I figured youtube would have my answer. Thanks

  • i throw mine in the washing machine downtown

  • good job man

  • stupid music

  • Urbex....I don't think you know of what you speak......

The first "Law of Holes" is when you're in one....stop digging!

You are making yourself look foolish.

    Just sayin.

  • @urbex2007 Did you just try to tell me that the INTAKE passes air BOTH ways? So you're telling me that it serves as an intake and an exhaust? For the love of god tell me that's not what you're on about. You rinse inside out so that you're not effectively pressing dirt into the intake using water pressure.

Also, yes, the oil stays wet, it's oil of course it does. It stays wet to help dirt stick to it and aid filtration. It will only f with your MAF sensor if YOU USED WAY TOO MUCH OIL.

  • Not recommended for any turbo carged car due to the much higher airflow, it can't cope and the oil which never dries gets sucked in to the MAF sensor. Mine was £200 to repair. K&N also don't publish or give any figures on what they claim the filtration rate is in microns. I do not want my engine shotblasted as it allows dirt through. Small surface=bigger holes. K&N does NOT filter and they don't claim it does. A paper filter is 10times the surface area and doesn't restrict flow in any way.

  • @urbex2007 Also, you are the only person not recommending it for a turbo charged engine. Not a reliable source. I know plenty of turbo cars running the filter properly with out using too much oil for hundreds of thousands of miles. I am one of them (twin turbo v6). Have you done any testing to confirm that it allows dirt through? And how much? Obviously it will, and K&N post results of something like 96-99% filtering efficiency. NOTHING will block ALL of the particles. They do call them filters.

  • Rinse from inside out.

Let it dry overnight. not 10 min,

and dont tell your mom you used her good sink to clean your air filter.

lol. Ill be off to find a better video. Never having dont this before (new car) I new better than what you were doing. Atleast I learned the names of the products I need to go and get. fuck...

  • @greatdane50 It doesn't actually dry. It stays damp with oil, that's why it flies off and damages MAF sensors like it did with mine. Put a K&N in contact with a piece of cardboard and leave it for a few days, it will be saturated in the oil. I don't use them now as they do NOT filter to the standard of a paper element, so don't want to sandblast my engine with dirt the K&N allows through. K&N used clever marketing tricks and advertising, they still can't say how many microns they filter to!!!

  • youre supposed to rinse it from the inside out

and youre supposed to let the filter dry completly over night not in 10min before u put the oil spray

  • is that a pokemon song. :D

  • Holy crap! Thats one dirty filter....were do you live anyway?

If I were you I'd be cleaning it twice as often.

And always flush from the inside out or you will force any residual dirt deeper into the filter.

  • @BMWLDRider You seem to have contradicted what K&N claim about surface loading then, especially about the operation of what they don't say is a filter. People call them a filter so K&N go along with it, but don't say anywhere it filters - because it doesn't really. The K&N has a small surface area so wil block faster than a paper element with a 13ft surface area, K&N is 2ft max. So the holes in a K&N need to be 10 times bigger, allowing 10 times more dirt through than a paper filter. Bin it.

  • @urbex2007 Also. I would love for you to link me to somewhere that proves a K&N air filter functions worse than a stock air filter. The numbers you posted @BMWLDRider are confusing and don't make sense. Perhaps it was just your sentence structure. I personally know of a ~1000hp turbo car running a K&N filter with no ill effects. An open filter like this will not work for every car without proper tuning (Subaru STI for ex.) Do your homework and read directions before use.

  • the cleaner smells like shit

  • You should NEVER rinse the filter that way. you should always go from inside to out.

  • After how many miles should I clean mine? And I have the filter thats exactly like the OEM filter but with the K&N fibers so is the process any different?

  • @desimunda116 Well, i clean mine every 10,000 miles. and i never tried to clean another washable filter with the K&N kit, but i would image it would work and it should be done the same exact way as in the video

  • @zero2242 maybe im wrong but when I bought mine the dude said to do it every 3,000 miles or if it gets black which ever comes first.

  • @desimunda116 They say to at least check it every 30k miles, but it all depends on your driving conditions. I also have the drop-in replacement filter, and mine lasted about 25k-30k miles before it needed to be washed.

  • @desimunda116 you should clean it after ever ride

  • can you blow dry it? or do you have too let it sit till it dries?

  • @JImmyBTTP If you blow dry it you can harm the filter, according to the instructions the best thing to do is to let it sit and dry on it's own

  • @zero2242 thanks

  • Great video thanks. Just make sure you do it outside don't let that crap go to ur house pipes lol.

  • wow im gonna clean mine too its been sitting there for 2 yrs

  • You are only supposed to rinse from the inside out, NOT the outside in.

  • @nieldcaj Doesn't matter which way you clean it, is passes air both ways, the cotton isn't a one way system. This just shows the general lack of knowledge from people buying these devices. Learn about filtration, gasflow and save your money. If K&N filtered to anywhere near the standards of a paper element (which doesn't restrict flow) car manufacturers would use them, so would air conditioning companies. K&N have only scammed the boy racer market, the rest have common sense. K&N=no filtering

  • great video man thanks

  • good video just learned something

  • wow you musta had 150,000 KM on that filter or you live on a dirt road and tail people.

  • alright might as well give it a try next time

  • on the instrustions it says spray the clean side first

  • on these cone air filter i had better results spraying the dirty side first then the clean

  • Holy DIRTY filter batman

  • Comment removed

  • @justintc93 Maybe it's just all the excess oil he put on from the first time?
