''operating in a very hostile environment'' (understatement) but still keep in mind that compound was like shooting fish in a barrel, there where hundreds of men in there.. I doubt they were all armed either, at least the prisoners died like men trying to fight their way out. The reason they never surrendered is because the 'good guys' where going to allow the allied warlords to cram them all into containers and shoot'em up with heavy machine guns and dump them in a nearby lake. Nothing worse.
@silicon605 Of course he'd say that,he's from the US. It took some Aussie SAS to bail out a some US in Afghanistan who were pinned down. An Aussie SAS from that day got a bravery medal awarded to him by the US for incredible courage that saved the US soldiers lives
@BasseFunch And you fags are the only ones that care. Pretty sure they don't give a fuck. They always operate knowing they wont receive any acknowledgement for what they have done.
This is not the SAS this is the SBS the US tried to award them a medal for it but they had to turn it down one of the CIA with them wrote a novel about it. The SBS are a navy version of the SAS and do the SAS selection course then the SBS selection which is harder. Theirs talks of merging the two forces for better coperation.
@ohrecondite I rewatched. After 0:10 you can easily hear at least 6. I would say 6-8 w/ AK, PKM, 1 click.
I'm also pretty sure the SAS or whoever that is, had a second, more primary, unit attacking them as you can only hear 2 rounds come by the cameraman the whole time.
Too bad we dropped a laser guided bomb onto the compound that destroyed most of the Northern Alliance soldiers, including a tank. I believe allied forces were also killed by the misguide "smart" bomb.
Shit, they're right hard nuts—most ordinary people would be face down on the floor, shitting themselves justifiably. That SAS troopers just stands there his gimpy, firing from the hip like he doesn't giving a shit that there's loads of incoming 7.62mm whizzing past his bonce at nearly 3000 ft a second.

In spite of the awesomitude of the SAS, you've gotta respect the Taliban/AQ guys in this battle. They went from being prisoners to overrunning the armory and nearly taking over the fort--this AFTER being captured following a 2 week battle against Northern Alliance + NATO airpower where they fought to their last bullets. I don't care where you're from or what you believe, but that is true heroic fighting.

I'm an American and I have many British friends over sea's who have told me of the SAS and how they compare to our American Navy Seals. I have to say after watching this video I was impressed and gained a deep admiration for the courage in those men on that battle field Bloody well done mate's as my British friends would say as an American cowboy I will simply kick there mother fucking filthy Taliban ass men. I'm glad America and Britain kick ass together we are truly bad ass nations (YEAH)
In all honesty, no self respecting Englishmen would go "bloody well done mate!"....and if you know about the SAS, you should also know about the SBS...who are pretty much the same as the SAS however the SBS is made up mainly of Royal Marine Commandos, and they're in general a much better and more specialized trained force compared to the SAS. The SBS under-go's the same training, however they also learn about diving and underwater missions etc. And being mainly ex-commandos, they own
@trunkzdbz Do not compare the SAS to the Navy Seals. You may compare them to Seal Team Six or Delta Force. SAS train more and longer than the regular Navy Seals.
Those at Amnesty International calling for an investigation* are nuts. Send these bleeding heart liberals to Afghanistan for a month & lets see what tune they'll be singing then.
P.S. Google: 'Special Air Service' wiki & look at the WW2 pic of the SAS in a desert setting. One of the most dramatic pics of an elite force ever taken. These trained killers look the part & then some.
* Each piece of taliban excrement that is killed = more air for worthwhile lifeforms to breathe in.
I wonder are they ever mistaken for taliban? I mean they got no military clothing, they look genuinely like an insurgent force, not using regular british weapons, well at least some of them... If I walked round the corner and saw those guys Id shit myself
@gejwaites the larger weapons you see are GPMG's (genral purpose machine gun) this weapon is issued in brittish army, the boys you see with AK-47's are local authorites a.k.a police/Afgan army. and yes if walking round a corner and seeing these boys you would shit yourself :)
@gejwaites yea your correct , the M16 A2 was decommissioned but they also gave large batches to the Afghan army to get rid of the Ak-47, its one of the things we do to help local authorities in Afghan, in truth i cant answer why some of the SAS lads have them, maybe orders to use them? i might be able if i could see the body on it but they look pretty old standard, Maybe they were disguised as local Militia? that would explain the fake tans and the outfits.

@GHOST1SRR Not really replying implying it's him in the video... just honouring a man that is on record as having been pivotal in saving men inside the fortress when things went pear shaped...
"First In" by Gary. C. Schroen is a good read too... as well as "Jawbreaker" by Gary Bernsten
@jhansen1441 Exactly, glad all those bastards are dead, otherwise they'd probably come to britain and be given council houses, also this showed the Taliban how hardcore our guys are!! Brit SF captured yet another taliban commander today, give it time, keep up the pressure and they will fall!!
Oh yeah, like the Isreali special forces did a good job this week-NOT! Piss off Turkey who has the largest armed forces in the region.
Obama has a real job who he backs, Isreal whom they normally support or Turkey cos they are MAJOR NATO allie. The presemt Israeli president is such a self distructive nob.
The Royal Marines go through 32 weeks of training which is the longest and one of the hardest military training in the world. Only the best of the Royal Marines get in SBS. SAS are UK Army special forces. There is no better than British special forces. The size of your country, the bigger your army does not mean that you are more elite.
@machdude1 maybe but they have a contract now that says they cannot write books and I am sure that goes for being identified on camera also that is why when one dies they never say sas as there regiment they always give his regiment that he was when he joined the sas
My Father was a Liverpool messenger boy during the Blitz. He then joined the Royal Marines in 1942 and was a Commando by 18. I've recently discovered his service records and sbs is under swimming qualifications. I'm Canadian.
during soviet afgan invasion british special forces jointly with cia was providing weps to talibans, nato souljaz r dyin of dis weapons. wich stupid planification..
@Baleroon There is a difference between courageous and proffesional. The sas is the most highly trained force in the world, closely followed by navy seals and other US special forces.
@cptmuska the only reason they could be considered better than anything is because they dont have to follow the rules that the US and UK special forces do. Out of the special forces that actually follow rules of engagement the SAS is top closely followed by navy seals ect ect
@cptmuska I respect your guys I do but the fact is all special forces are based on the sas hell the sas even trained some of them the us delta force for one sas are the top of the food chain
@wolf99000 your right, on an other note you have 2 look at who and what the special forces are fighting against, every time they shoot a burst its most likely dead on an enemy position, when the enemy fires it goes all over, and they are also not used to taking cover correctly, they move around speraticly, trying to get a better vantage with no tactical objective what so ever. Ive seen it first hand it is a sad display of lack of leadership and training
@cptmuska with these guys we are fighting now but that is not all they go up against the sas dont only do anti terror they also are on the front lines like the first gulf war
@GHOST1SRR wow you think your special because you "stuck" your head up for 4 hours for the NA...amazing you deserve a medal along with everyone else there. idiot
man do i love british special forces which ever branch they are from and specially there ability to mix with the surroundings they are operating in good work lads
If you get far enough in the SBS training and fail selection you can join the SAS I read a book about the SBS and in an SBS member own words they have to train harder as in a worse case scenario they have to swim from a submarine to a cliff face climb it then after that do what is expected of an SAS soilder many of them cry while doing the long distance tests it's that hard. When they have finnished the run they get told they have do run another 10 miles.
@NielsShoe really? i dont see why the SBS training would be any harder than the SAS. You're saying that SBS rejects go to the SAS - i dont think so! SAS came before SBS as far as im aware - they wrote the book on endurance and survival. I think the standards would be equivalent across SBS and SAS, if not harder for SAS seeing as they are the original special forces.
@NielsShoe THIS IS SBS HERE IN THIS CLIP- but all sas and sbs guys do the same training/selection course!! run by a mix of sbs and sas instructors so the staple bit is the same.
after they go on to specialise in various differing things and yes sb do go on and do a month combat diving and boating.
but both during their time in will do allsorts of courses toi increase skill and that.
@NielsShoe each and every member of the SAS has to go through selection no matter weather they got far enough in the SBS or not. both SAS and SBS have selection and upon completing that there is a year follow up training and during that year if you dont come up to scratch you will be RTU'd (returned to unit) if you complete the year then you are a fully fledged member of either SAS or SBS. If you do get RTU'd you can try again but you will have to start from selection no matter what.
Does anyone know if Australians can join the SBS? I've read about SASR officers going over and training with them, but I want to know whether an Australian can become a full member?
By the way, thank you, to anyone serving in the armed forces.
I couldnt tell you 100% but as far as i know Australians (or any other commonwealth country) can be a member of any part of the British Military. I know there have been a number of Aussies in the SAS. Why not just join our SASR or even Navy diver clearance team if you prefer water stuff.
@mikhailM4 Firing a GPMG one-handed? That's nothing relatively speaking. To get into the SAS you have to complete a timed March over the fucking Brecon Beacons with a 60-70lb bergen, no rest and no food!!! A lot of people couldn't even walk 10 yards with a 60lb bergen let alone march over Brecon Beacons with the bloody thing on an empty stomach and no sleep!!! That's mega: Sorts the elite masochists from the squaddies...
@mikhailM4 He's got a good technique: Look how wide his stance is and how he leans forward when he fires to counter act muzzle climb - still impressive though.
Western media are traitors. Their goal is to show western soldiers as the bad guys and do what they call "scopes" where they betray the very soldiers who guarantee their safety.
He says " FAC Complete" which stands for Forward Air Controller. This means he has contacted the Fast air support with co-ordinates for a fast air strike.
''operating in a very hostile environment'' (understatement) but still keep in mind that compound was like shooting fish in a barrel, there where hundreds of men in there..

The size of your country, the bigger your army does not mean that you are more elite.

of course they're "aware" of the cameraman...
machdude1 1 year ago
@machdude1 maybe but they have a contract now that says they cannot write books and I am sure that goes for being identified on camera also that is why when one dies they never say sas as there regiment they always give his regiment that he was when he joined the sas

SAS could be sitting next to you right now , in out no need to shout , job done.

Russian SpN (SpeczNaz - Special Forces of Marines and Army) are more courageous then the British ones (i mean SAS & SBS). In my humble opinion ;-))
Baleroon 1 year ago
@Baleroon There is a difference between courageous and proffesional. The sas is the most highly trained force in the world, closely followed by navy seals and other US special forces.
greedymatt 1 year ago
@greedymatt if you go by actual battle stats the Israel special forces are much better than anything in the world, and thats a world wide known fact.
cptmuska 1 year ago
@cptmuska Excuse me, sir, how do you know the fact than Israel SpecForces better than British? You served in army?
Baleroon 1 year ago
@cptmuska the only reason they could be considered better than anything is because they dont have to follow the rules that the US and UK special forces do. Out of the special forces that actually follow rules of engagement the SAS is top closely followed by navy seals ect ect
greedymatt 1 year ago
@cptmuska : Battle stats don't take into account the (lack of) quality of the opposition.
robert700818 1 year ago
@cptmuska I respect your guys I do but the fact is all special forces are based on the sas hell the sas even trained some of them the us delta force for one sas are the top of the food chain
wolf99000 1 year ago
@wolf99000 your right, on an other note you have 2 look at who and what the special forces are fighting against, every time they shoot a burst its most likely dead on an enemy position, when the enemy fires it goes all over, and they are also not used to taking cover correctly, they move around speraticly, trying to get a better vantage with no tactical objective what so ever. Ive seen it first hand it is a sad display of lack of leadership and training
cptmuska 1 year ago
@cptmuska with these guys we are fighting now but that is not all they go up against the sas dont only do anti terror they also are on the front lines like the first gulf war

ok no im wrong SBS was before SAS, both are derivatives of British commandos formed in WW2.
FocusedSub 1 year ago
If you get far enough in the SBS training and fail selection you can join the SAS I read a book about the SBS and in an SBS member own words they have to train harder as in a worse case scenario they have to swim from a submarine to a cliff face climb it then after that do what is expected of an SAS soilder many of them cry while doing the long distance tests it's that hard. When they have finnished the run they get told they have do run another 10 miles.
NielsShoe 1 year ago
@NielsShoe really? i dont see why the SBS training would be any harder than the SAS. You're saying that SBS rejects go to the SAS - i dont think so! SAS came before SBS as far as im aware - they wrote the book on endurance and survival. I think the standards would be equivalent across SBS and SAS, if not harder for SAS seeing as they are the original special forces.
FocusedSub 1 year ago
@NielsShoe THIS IS SBS HERE IN THIS CLIP- but all sas and sbs guys do the same training/selection course!! run by a mix of sbs and sas instructors so the staple bit is the same.
after they go on to specialise in various differing things and yes sb do go on and do a month combat diving and boating.
but both during their time in will do allsorts of courses toi increase skill and that.
fair play to them all though
tiggyhunter 1 year ago

Thanks

@SOL3953
I couldnt tell you 100% but as far as i know Australians (or any other commonwealth country) can be a member of any part of the British Military. I know there have been a number of Aussies in the SAS. Why not just join our SASR or even Navy diver clearance team if you prefer water stuff.

Anyone who's handled one of these beasts will realise just how mega that is.

@mikhailM4 He is Sergeant Paul “Scruff” Mcgough, Special Boat Service. Died age of 41 in a hang gliding accident on Cyprus.
KNIhokki 1 year ago
@mikhailM4 Firing a GPMG one-handed? That's nothing relatively speaking. To get into the SAS you have to complete a timed March over the fucking Brecon Beacons with a 60-70lb bergen, no rest and no food!!! A lot of people couldn't even walk 10 yards with a 60lb bergen let alone march over Brecon Beacons with the bloody thing on an empty stomach and no sleep!!! That's mega: Sorts the elite masochists from the squaddies...
ElectricLoveland 1 year ago
@mikhailM4 He's got a good technique: Look how wide his stance is and how he leans forward when he fires to counter act muzzle climb - still impressive though.
