  • So I like how volvo says its cars are safe because u can avoid the elk.. That is of cours u see it and react in time. So why did Saab test there cars for both situations both avoidance and collision? I don't care how nice the new S60 is.. I'll stick with my 2006 9-5.

  • So, what if the elk moves?

  • He failed anyway. The first thing you learn in swedish driving school about situations like these are that you always aim for the back legs.

  • I know where it was filmed.

  • Lols, i call it a christmas deer..

  • Haha volvo can stop. but its crash before it brake ;D

  • That's a moose

  • على اساس ان الثور بيقعد يتفرجج ان ما زغبك

  • stability control is for people who dont know that braking and turning hard should not be done at the same time

  • Try moose folks

  • BULL...er... ELK/MOOSE-SHIT VIDEO!!!!

  • Is this video some kind of a joke?

  • nem todos os cidadãos comuns são profissionais. Eu teria batido por não me profissionalizar.

  • yeah this is nice and all but what about a moving one?

  • @dstrong1337 yes or if there is other cars on the road..

  • @dstrong1337 they don't really move that much, look up some videos of moose on the road, they mainly stand around and get hit

  • An actual "Elk Test" would involve striking it.....

  • now try it with a running moose at twilight

  • S60 can hit dummy dear... ok i can deal with it

  • okAY.. we cant do that stunt sht

  • Does not this test is especially realistic, how often do you see a moose on a skateboard?

  • Ehm, there are no Elk's in Croatia, so i dont get it why ppl in Croatia buy Volvo's.

  • How not to drive; slam on your brakes and try to turn at the same time.

  • @mhoyer01 lift of the brake as you turn

  • Sweden.

  • This is an exercise that everyone goes through when taking a driving license in Sweden

  • I wish I was a proffesional driver.

  • I wonder whether Volvo's equivalent of pre safe would actually make u crash into the Elk i.e. fully slam the brakes for u catching u off guard and stuffing up ur swerve and avoid maneuver.

  • damn it i thought that he was going to hit the elk, moose whatever it is

  • I thought the car was going to brake by itself, but we've seen time and again that that doesn't work.

  • That's a stupid test.

  • I KNEW IT!!! Old Topgear stig didn't die! he just works for Volvo now.

Well... some did say, he thinks Sweden is heaven

  • Lol now try this while it's nighttime with shitty headlights and no street lighting. That's what happened to me when I hit a buck last week.. Had about 1/2 a second to respond. I don't even think I had time to swerve

  • Now that I watched this.. I'm buying the volvo ¬¬

  • The Norwegian word for Moose is Elg, and it's probably something simular in Sweden cause the the two languages are pretty simular.

    Just saying.

  • What`s the point of this ?

  • I thought it was going to stop by itself.

  • in real live that moose would move to the left and it would get ran over

  • Buy chinese car! =) =D

  • Damn those stuffed dead moose sitting still in the middle of the road, hard to avoid them!

  • to people who ask what this represent - this is very good test of a suspension setup - however, it's very individual and even the best car in hands of idiot cant save your life. Braking is very good, indeed, however many times you simply don't have enough time and space to brake, so you logically need to do maneuver in video. It's problem of cars with no ESP, in the speeds shown in video you can easily roll-over your car, and also it is serious problem for low cost car with chassis of paper.

  • straight movie better- straight like a caddy.

  • it shows that their detection system fails

  • gay movie 740 is much better :D

  • Oh yeah? Try doing that maneuver on a busy road. Volvo braking campaigns are a joke!

  • fear the deer

    fear the elk

    fear the moose

  • isn't the car supposed to stop automatically if it detects something

  • ugly ass car

  • @Kitteh2006 Dont worry, you will never see one at your trailerpark anyway.

  • @randomkille ha, funny, I live in San Francisco

  • l.o.l

  • L.O.L!!!!

  • i watched this for nothing i thoguht the car was going to hit the moose but once i saw the person i knew they weren't gonig to

  • muy bueno!

  • they should have used a sofa in the road , just in case someone dumps one off the back of a van in the middle of the night

  • oookaay i can do that too!!.hmm.

  • Woooooooow! I've been looking for a car that can avoid stationary obstacles.

  • love this car!

  • Nice video.

  • Hey you dumb. That's a moose, not an elk

  • @KatiushaVN4 In Europe a moose is called an Elk. Kind of like how in America a Bison is called a Buffalo. In Swedish it is Älgtest but we say Moose Test in the Western Hemisphere.

  • @KatiushaVN4 You're kidding, right? It's called an elk in some parts of europe. In Denmark we say "elg". Which is a moose. Go look it up in a dictionary. A dictionary is a book. Or google the shit - do you know what google is...?

  • @KatiushaVN4

Educate yourself - type Elk in wikipedia. All normal people in Europe call this animal an Elk, and only Americans invented their own name, as well as they use Fahrenheit instead of Celcius, re-filming IT-crowd, and many other unexplainable things...

  • @orinfury however Elk and Moose are two different animals.

  • @orinfury Elk and Moose are two different animals...

  • @orinfury shut up you condesending cunt , its a fucking moose

  • @orinfury so, wikipedia is your source of information? oh wow!

  • @orinfury That's a moose. Elk is the second largest species of deer animals. Moose is the largest. The third one is the red stag. Moose and elk are two completely different animals. And it dosen't matter how wrong people are between american and europe. Two different animals. Do you homework insteed of just reading of wikipedia.

  • @orinfury moose*

  • @orinfury it's a moose, elk is not the same animal

  • @orinfury The whole refilming movies because it's not American enough just blows my mind.

  • @orinfury Its not an elk or a moose....

    Its Volvo's Prancing Moose/elk

  • @orinfury

Actually elk is a kind of deer, in fact one of the largest... Moose is the correct name in english for the animal we see in this video. Just check out wikipedia and you can see clearly that it is a deer.

    Translation swedish-english:

    älg = moose

    wapitihjort = elk

  • @orinfury

Not Elk you dumbnut.. In the nordic countries we say ELG!!

Elk is another name for Wapiti-deer [Which lives in North America]

  • @orinfury Its because we're better than you.

  • @orinfury

    they re filmed IT-crowd?

    FUCK THAT.

  • weel people on sweden say moose when they say it in english and it is a swedish car so plzz say moose you motha fuckha

  • @orinfury Do not forget the round door nobs!

  • @orinfury bravo!!

  • @orinfury

    Poorly handled.

You could very well have made your point without using the opportunity to correct another person's error to take a swipe at a whole group of people.

  • @orinfury look up american MOOSE and american ELK and you will see that they are two different animals, you dumbass, fahrenheit is a more accurate tempurature system. you english are so stuck up, and for what reason? because we kicked your ass in our revolutionary war and created a stronger, bigger, mor eindustrious country? get over yourselves. that animal was a moose, not an elk

  • @thelastgood1forever lol rage much!

  • @thelastgood1forever HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @orinfury It's a moose.

  • @orinfury

Americans didnt invent nothing. They bought scientist from germany, yugoslavia and russia to invent for them, as they do today. ;)

  • @orinfury Elk is like a moose, but smaller.

  • @orinfury We are the rebel, aren't we... :)

  • @KatiushaVN4 typical American comment

  • Ummm.....ok.

  • wtf should that represent?

  • @Ancho1987jaja

"Moose test" test car's behaviour in case of rapid change of path of the car eg. by an animal entering the road what (they say) happens often in Sweden

  • @krzych2o

yep everyday even in the city there are moose everywhere

    moose moose oooh you mooosey

  • @baverskalle ahahahaa this cracked me up!

  • @gt4driftster haha don't recall writing this but sure was fun, haha

    peace out, whoopie!

  • @Ancho1987jaja : The elk (or moose :p ) use some wheels in winter time

  • @Ancho1987jaja Crash avoidance and ESC systems demonstration.

  • @alexkvaskov

    Approached humorously, of course.

However, the stability control may do the driver no good if he/she fails to take note of the obstacle soon enough to evade it.

How would the vehicle's safety systems perform to protect the occupants if a frontal impact against large wildlife did occur? (Though, more than likely, the vehicle may perform quite well, provided nothing of substantial mass enters through the windshield).
