That old time music can be heard in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas and Missouri. The music came from across the sea, and settled in Appalachia, and then migrated to the Ozark mountains.

I'm wondering the name of the song that eldia Barbee is playing at the 2.08 mark. I'm playing it now by learning it in this video. i love his style .and have learned several tunes from his videos......

calvin chastain is my great-grandpa. seeing him pick in this video was amazing. i remember we would go over and watch him play and sit at his feet. i started playing the guitar about 2 years after he passed away, and i wish he could have showed me some stuff. he was a great man. his son (my papaw) Russel still picks around town and taught me everything he knows.

I think this was shot in 1980. Locations are Homer Chastain's home on Gunbarrel Rd, East Brainerd TN, Eldia Barbee's trailer, Lovelady Rd, Soddy TN, and Pine Breeze Center, Hamilton Ave, Chattanooga. I was 27-28 years old. Claude Redden is backing Eldia on guitar. "The Pine Breeze Recordings" (2005) a 2 CD set is availailable from Jubilee Community Arts (Knoxville) and County Record Sales.We did one last LP, PB 008, "Fresh Picked" in 1981 - Ron Williams: asprecords@comcast.net
