  • damn, this is cool

  • NICEEEEE I LOVE PETER MURPHY :D

  • well, this was pretty pointless...

"hey guys, let's make a cover just like the original but with much duller sounds and orchestration!"

  • @jeanfatale - I'm pretty sure the "dullness, and orchestration" was the motive. However, I don't think it's dull.

  • @jeanfatale well this was pretty pointless.....

Let's pretend I'm a critic on youtube and make inane comments on videos I don't even enjoy.

  • Trent reznor the beethoven of this age ? Come on, Looks like you re some serious ass kisser... Reznor is a very good musician, that s all... You can t compare him to beethoven, god, or whatever, he s just a man, that shits, pee, get hungry just like everyone else...

  • @S4BIO Fuck yeah he is! I completely agree. Most of his work he plays all of the instrumentals himself. Puts it all together into one beautiful masterpiece. Plus he is fucking gorgeous~I love NIN!

  • its like fuckin in outer space....so fuckin sexy

  • listening to this with my headphones, the bass tickles.

  • closer sampled this song

  • Yup....AMAZING!!! Who would have thought?

  • ...just when you thought you'd seen it all...

  • Atticus Ross doesn't look anything like Gregory Peck, I see.

  • I wanna be thereeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

  • i like sound gitar

  • I just pooped a little

  • i m in love

  • Supersound! Superenergy insjide!!!

  • Comment removed

  • better than original

  • IT'S F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C-S-O-N-G

  • its a lot of bugs there........ roaches and flies..... lol

  • Yeah, I've been a fan of Trent, Peter, and Jeordie for a long time now, but I wouldn't call anyone in this room the "Beethoven of his age." Sorry, but that's just straight fanyboy/girl hyberbole.

  • @jackkoffin1 true enough, let's see whether NIN's music endures 3 centuries hence :)

  • awesome piano

  • I would have done anything to be in this room

  • ~ MEEEEEOOOOW !!!

  • So many people fail to see it, but Trent Reznor really is the Beethoven of this age. The art he has created (and will create) will no doubt endure in a similar manner.

  • @S4BIO Trent Reznor The Beethoven of his age? Look at what JAZ COLEMAN from KILLING JOKE produces....From 'punk' too classical music and even opera! Trents good but not in the same sphere of pure musical talent and shear variety that Jaz has achieved.

  • @stevobath but aren't Coleman's classical meanderings jusrt bollox?

  • @emile235 Im not into them but hes a renowned composer the world over & hes written some important musical pieces. His output is phenomenal & hes highly regarded. So while Im not into classical I dont think his works can be described as 'bollox'! lol

  • @stevobath what "important musical pieces" has Coleman written?

  • @emile235 Have a look on his WIKI PAGES..Like I say Im not into his CLASSICAL STUFF, but in the classical music world hes a prominent figure & has written many musical arrangements etc. Im not slagging off TRENT REZNOR just pointing out that JAZZ COLEMANS musical skills cover more styles.I find it amazing he can cover KILLING JOKES style & then go & write something so far removed such as CLASSICAL arrangements and operatic arias!

  • @stevobath oh right well as a punk rock guitarist and classical composer myself i am like "so fuckin' what?" It doesn't impress me.

  • @emile235 Maybe it doesnt! Just out of interest. What albums/scores /film music have you released WORLDWIDE?

  • @stevobath None but so fuckin what? Mccartney does classical pieces as has .Brian Wilson. All I am saying stop sucking up to someone because they can do punk rock and, they know a bit about music theory and can regurgitate Mozart, Beethoven et al. Check out Coleman's lyrics on the "Nightime " album they are evil, nasty and pro fascist . Coleman hates Live Aid did you know that? He is anti compassion. did you know that? GET OFF HIS DICK

  • @emile235 Why am I 'ON HIS DICK'? Its a free WORLD. I was just giving my opinion. Why the abuse? As for LIVE AID so what? Has it stopped WORLD HUNGER? Im not gettin into POLITICAL debates.Im talking of musical DIVERSITY.I dont WORSHIP ANY POP/ROCK STAR. Most have heads up their own arses.Have a nice day.:)

  • @stevobath hey you!! have a nice day too :)

  • @S4BIO Please do not compare Trent to Beethoven. You're obviously american right?

  • @emile235 Trent is an american badass, fuck beethoven hehehehehe

  • @blackgoetia just kidding :)

  • @emile235 - There are many parallels between Trent Reznor and Beethoven, the most obvious being that they both stand/stood head and shoulders above their musical contemporaries. Another obvious similarity... Reznor's music and lyrics will also be listened to and appreciated hundreds of years after his time. To recognize these parallels requires intelligence, something you clearly lack. You're obviously Eurotrash.

  • @S4BIO "Eurotrash"? How very GOSSIP GIRL of you.

  • @S4BIO Pretty sure there were no lyrics in Beethoven's compositions...

  • @S4BIO Brilliant comparison of Trent Reznor and Beethoven. I am huge fans of both, and just put them together via your analysis. Another aspect both share that they are drawn to a very deep and dark vein emotionality in music, but not necessarily in an overt way. In fact, what I love about Beethoven is that he wrote music that is ostensibly beautiful and / or romantic but you still find a familiar, universal and very human darkness running through the heart of it, to which I relate.

  • And Trent is similar.

  • Gods!!!! There will never be another to come close to Trent Reznor

This is my favorite version of this song

  • Rock Gods!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!

  • this is just sweet...i probably commented before...ignore me,watch vid hehe

  • hes such a hench trent reznor

  • Thanks for sharing this. I'm a HUGE NIN/Trent Reznor fan. Peter Murphy is one of my favorite's as well. Long time ago I went to see Peter Murphy in concert at DC's 9:30 Club but ended up seeing an unknown young NIN and they have been my favorite ever since. I wish there was a version of Peter Murphy's "Cuts You Up" with him and Trent singing it. I know that would be awesome!

  • fucking

    S W E E T

  • were is iggy?

  • Covering fucking Iggy! Brillianter and brillianter! Thank you!!

  • Brilliant considering those old boring people

  • This is amazing!

  • This is amazing!

  • remember old trent reznor? gotta love how friggin beefy he is now

what an amazing mix of musicians

  • @Oparmeste WTF, you are the first person I have ever heard her perfers new Trent over old Trent.

I perfer shy scrubby trent over new trent anyday.

  • @DrZaious I prefer new Trent to old Trent ,ainly b/c he's not using anymore. I think that's a big improvement. And while he had the pale, shy, scrubby thing going on, (I'll admit it was hot), I much prefer him now b/c, honestly, he looks far more manly now. :)

I think once a guy reaches a certain age they should drop the boyish looks and look like the man they are. (Or ought to be.)

  • @MrNorringtonmyiPOD Trent is more buff now yes but he always did it for me and still does!!!

  • Tw(iggy)*

  • ironic isn't it? Trent looped the beat of Nightclubbing from Iggy Pop's version for Closer, and he's covering it on his sex keyboard with T(wiggy),Atticus, and none other than the great Peter Murphy, how much more awesomer can the one man band get?

  • Would you be in that room without knowing who was playing? Really?

  • behind them... is that a woman or a lamp?

  • Fucking amazing. As always, Trent Reznor touches it and it turns into sonic gold.

  • Trent is so amazing, but great performance by all.

  • "trenton on piano" lol

  • A treasure!

  • Kick-ass sound. Prretty slammin'.

  • This song is just pure GLAM. Love it. And this cover is the end-all be-all. No one should even try to cover it after this. :P

  • TWIGGY DOES IGGY! amazing

  • Just get Robin Finck in that room and ill have a seizure.

  • Jujst got back from seeing peter murphy in hamilton. Fucking awesome show...wish he played this song :(

  • This is so beautiful....

  • WOW. Great cover. And they are the "dream team" to do it, of course. Love the original...

  • iggy fans hands down...

    gud song..

  • Genial!!!

  • pump it

  • hell yes,this ROCKS

  • Does anybody know how to play this on Piano? Trent's part? Can you a make a how-to vid please?

Thanks in adv. I'm a noob

  • Anybody have tabs to this?

  • hell yes.

  • badass.

this was like, my first iggy pop song. :)

  • lv it cant get enough

  • Does anyone know the lyrics to this song?

  • Google it ?

  • I love that record though it never made me feel like that, testament to the point that no music makes anyone person feel one thing

  • how many people wish they could add to a bowie/ iggy pop recording? ALL PEOPLE so these guys are in a unique position. Do they do anything special with that position? I don't know. It's kind of time to get a little angrier about the themes profssed in "nightclubbing." The absent 70s dillettante or otherwise disengaged drug addict is not so appealing in today's culture, whatever that is. Pretty much they dont have time for artists.

  • @mthrshp1 you're pretty much overanalyzing it. songs about partying still sell, are still what people want to hear. see: lady gaga, ke$ha, the rest of 2010's popular music.

  • the only thing with this is you just need to be a lot 70s c0ler...strung out and metaphetaminzed and wearing great shirts...and it would be 30 years ago

  • AaaauuuUUuuhhHhh...

    Karma is such a bitch...

it has a life full of surprises,

for someone who called Trent a "knob turner".

    Guess LMAO is in order.

    Godspeed

  • Peter Murphy has one of my favorite voices ever, but you can tell especially in this song how his smoking has affected his voice, albeit a little, over time.

  • Why is no one mentioning that the original track is where Trent got the iconic drum sample for "Closer" from? lol

  • Becouse that's just simply not true. This is just a gossip, sorry ^^.

  • The only time I ever read it was in a Guitar World feature around 1996 or 1997. Reznor said it himself in this article, so...

  • look on the ninwiki for the downward spiral. not saying its true thats just what it said

  • @ncrogdn haha, you're right, I was thinking that too.

  • Trent should play the piano more often. I'm surprised at his agility. I thought he was more of a knob turner than pianist so this is a pleasant surprise.

  • Trent was actually classically trained as a pianist when he was younger. It's just that his tastes run to dissonance and repetition. Check out "Something I can never have" and "Right where it belongs" for a couple of good examples.

  • Oh yeah, "La Mer" is another good one. It's one of my favorite "quiet" Nin tracks, when the tempo picks up the clash of distortion and piano meld perfectly.

  • they own.

  • Gingersnap, just go find something you love and enjoy it. This is a bit of a thrill for fans of a certain genre, including myself, but it's obviously not for you. Let's leave aside talk of 'pooing' and get back to the music.

  • ok DoubleIvan you are correct it's just whenever two or three "great" artsists colaberate on a song it just automatically "has" to be so great because the artsits are & I like both of these artists but I tend to think Trent just doesn't do the song justice (here we go with replys to my opinion again *sigh*

  • I agree with you, to an extent, Ginger. If the song was amazing, they'd release it. But as it is, I think it's just two legends throwing ideas about while giving props to Iggy. But I gotta say their cover of Joy Division's 'Atmosphere' really IS amazing. Keep on rockin', my friend.

  • Hey DoubleIvan thanks for the tip on JD cover of 'Atmosphere', that one I really love & even this one is starting to grow on me lol, "bored on a Sunday" ya...but I am a huge fan of all (well especially Ian) & have heard a few crummy covers but this was a great one! thank you my friend:)

  • ya, really awesome & amazing if your in a nursing home doped up on alstimer meds & don't care if you crap your drawers....for the people that think it's so "great" expalin why? Don't just copy eveyone elses opinion.

  • Don't you have better things to do than troll other people's music tastes?

This song is considered one of the great post-punk anthems of all time. We're seeing two giants of music getting together to pay homage this song.

That's really all that we need to think this clip is awesome.

  • no, I don't have anything better to do & obvioulsy YOU don't either now at that go ring the nurse that you pooed your pants again because as I stated you must be in the nursing home to enjoy this song/video.

  • "Pooed my pants"? What are you? A 12-year old?

You asked why the song was great, and I responded as clearly as possible-- and all you can resort to is kindergarten level insults?

Seriously, go back to 4chan. You clearly don't have a valid opinion.

  • see my comments to Doubelvan please that DID make a valid opinion/response to me & lets put this baby to bed okay? *sheez*

  • these guys have amazing chemistry-musically...i hope they do more

  • There's a fly that is so annoying

  • awesome with that NIN sound

  • please check out jeordie's solo work, its intense!! he gets much less credit than he deserves. he wrote manson's "four rusted horses" long ago. his solo project is called Goon Moon.

  • wild,wild !!!

  • fa paura...robbosissimo e bellissimo

  • I like the roach walking on the door frame at 1:12

  • LMAO

  • @FatalShockKustom roach wants to go night clubbin ...

  • @FatalShockKustom

Great comment! However, I think that it *may* be one of the pesky flies that you'll see buzzing around the room.

    Good eye though.

    ;-)

  • @FatalShockKustom hahaha you are so awesome to have noticed that!

  • @FatalShockKustom

Represents the Grime that they still possess!

    >:)

    LOVE the music.

  • @FatalShockKustom and the fly that nearly hits trent in the face at the same time.

  • @FatalShockKustom a few seconds later, you could also see a fly hovering near trent.

  • @FatalShockKustom is it a roach?

  • holly shit.

  • so fuckin awesome

  • sublime..

  • too much talent all together!

  • Six stars!

  • 3:50 no one has more experience screaming than Mr. Murphy... a virtuoso.

  • AWESOME!!

  • must admit i like this as much as the original.

  • oh i love that sound...

und wie geil sich des erst mit ecstasy im blut anhören würde xD ^^

  • ooo i haven't seen this before! i like this so much!

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • Word up

  • Yay! Peter Murphy's vocals+Trent Reznor's music+brilliance.

  • esto es un agasajo !!! sin palabras es perfecto asombroso!

  • Decadence at its best

  • Peter only can perform this song and being at Iggy's level

  • OMG!!! Peter cover an Bowie/Iggy Pop song!! *___*

  • sublime..

  • fantastic

  • Trent borrowed the drunk track from the original for Closer,I love this version.

  • This is the coolest thing ever!!! Candy to my ears!

  • Great...What a sweet combination. PM vocals, spot on, perfect fit for that song. Iggy would be proud...

  • genial .. supremo!!

  • hes stopping touring after the wave goobye tour, then he's working on toher stuff, but he says he'll probably have more music out

  • Now what I would give my left tit to see would be Trent and Iggy onstage together.

  • Trent gets angry at the computer guy and motions "NOW!" at 0:44

  • name the movie soundtrack

  • Trainspotting.

  • sounds like the guy who sings that monster mash song.
