@S4BIO Fuck yeah he is! I completely agree. Most of his work he plays all of the instrumentals himself. Puts it all together into one beautiful masterpiece. Plus he is fucking gorgeous~I love NIN!
Yeah, I've been a fan of Trent, Peter, and Jeordie for a long time now, but I wouldn't call anyone in this room the "Beethoven of his age." Sorry, but that's just straight fanyboy/girl hyberbole.
So many people fail to see it, but Trent Reznor really is the Beethoven of this age. The art he has created (and will create) will no doubt endure in a similar manner.
@S4BIO Trent Reznor The Beethoven of his age? Look at what JAZ COLEMAN from KILLING JOKE produces....From 'punk' too classical music and even opera! Trents good but not in the same sphere of pure musical talent and shear variety that Jaz has achieved.
@emile235 Im not into them but hes a renowned composer the world over & hes written some important musical pieces. His output is phenomenal & hes highly regarded. So while Im not into classical I dont think his works can be described as 'bollox'! lol

To recognize these parallels requires intelligence, something you clearly lack. You're obviously Eurotrash.
@S4BIO Brilliant comparison of Trent Reznor and Beethoven. I am huge fans of both, and just put them together via your analysis. Another aspect both share that they are drawn to a very deep and dark vein emotionality in music, but not necessarily in an overt way. In fact, what I love about Beethoven is that he wrote music that is ostensibly beautiful and / or romantic but you still find a familiar, universal and very human darkness running through the heart of it, to which I relate.
Thanks for sharing this. I'm a HUGE NIN/Trent Reznor fan. Peter Murphy is one of my favorite's as well. Long time ago I went to see Peter Murphy in concert at DC's 9:30 Club but ended up seeing an unknown young NIN and they have been my favorite ever since. I wish there was a version of Peter Murphy's "Cuts You Up" with him and Trent singing it. I know that would be awesome!
@DrZaious I prefer new Trent to old Trent ,ainly b/c he's not using anymore. I think that's a big improvement. And while he had the pale, shy, scrubby thing going on, (I'll admit it was hot), I much prefer him now b/c, honestly, he looks far more manly now. :)
I think once a guy reaches a certain age they should drop the boyish looks and look like the man they are. (Or ought to be.)
ironic isn't it? Trent looped the beat of Nightclubbing from Iggy Pop's version for Closer, and he's covering it on his sex keyboard with T(wiggy),Atticus, and none other than the great Peter Murphy, how much more awesomer can the one man band get?
how many people wish they could add to a bowie/ iggy pop recording? ALL PEOPLE so these guys are in a unique position. Do they do anything special with that position? I don't know. It's kind of time to get a little angrier about the themes profssed in "nightclubbing."
