  • Bush in the backgound listening about Katrina...l0l

  • Jimmy Carter of course being the same asshole whose 1970 gubernatorial campaign distributed pictures of his opponent embracing a black athlete at Klan rallies, who pledge to invite George Wallace to Georgia, who was "proud" to have Lester Maddox as his Lt. Governor, the man who brags about his "commitment" to human rights yet showered accolades on Tito, Ceausescu, Daniel Ortega, and Kim il-Sung.

Carter slammed his 1970 opponent for attending MLK's funeral to get the racist vote.

    Hypocrite.

  • Jimmy Carter of course being the Governor, who, though he embraces racist tactics to win the Governorship, FOOLED racists into thinking he was one of them by proclaiming, during his inauguration, "THE ERA OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IS OVER."

    Genius.

  • Why is it that liberals always call liars "geniuses"?

" I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank. "

Liars both, which makes them geniuses in the eyes of liberals.

  • I guess some of you don't know that it was JFK who did the wire tapping?

  • Look at the Satan clapping to the right of the screen, torture, war, wiretapping, bigotry, hate, weapons proliferation, you name it....

  • such a good man!

  • Pres. Jimmy Carter will always be admired for his decent character. A good man, a humble servant.

I am proud he made this speech at Mrs. King's funeral. God bless Jimmy and Rosalyn and family.

    JM : )

  • Man, I wished they showed Bush's face when Carter mentioned the wiretapping done against Martin & Coretta! Was that a subtle dig at the then-President's own wiretapping program?

  • To everyone speaking ill of Carter's words. Go read history, please. Coretta Scott King was brave and would appreciate Jimmy Carter speaking truth to power today in the same vein as MLK did. "Silence is betrayal." When honoring Coretta and Martin's legacy, the notion that politics(which involves the poor today) should be kept quiet about is simply ignorant of their long struggle and what she had to put up with in her whole lifetime and this was spoken of elegantly and with truth by Jimmy Carter.

  • SOCK IT TO EM' JIMMY! It wasn't out of line-the people in morning were loving it. Dr. King spoke out against Vietnam and would have spokin out if he were making a speech next to the president too.

  • His subject matter was out of line. Although I vote democrat, I think Bush is trying his hardest (unfortunately). He's had a view drastic events take place during his presidency that history will show he was too incompetent to deal with. Bush is whack, but Carter dishonored the lady the funeral was for.

  • This entire event was tacky. Just when I 'm ready to jump from the sinking ship known as the GOP, I get this kind of classless display by the left and Jimmy Carter. This entire think should make everyone sicks and reminds me of a similair one that happened in 2002 after the death of a Senator from Minn. IT'S A FUNERAL, NOT A ANTI-BUSH RALLY! CRAP LIKE THIS KEEPS ME VOTING REPUBLICAN!

  • Why did he offend you?

  • It was tacky and seemed more like a rally for a campaign than a funeral. My grandfather used to conduct many funerals and there's a certain tact that is required at such events. it just seemed like an excuse to bash Bush, which I think is not called for. He's a guest that's attending to pay respects to her and it's petty to try to make it about him. It's just really bad form by those speaking here and doesn't help their side.

  • To each his own I guess. I thought what he said was spot on. Do you think Bush would have been at that funeral had it not been on public television. NO....like it or not. She was a public figure and he brought up issues that she was fighting for. She couldn't ask them so carter asked them for her. But again, to each his own.

  • No, there is no "to each his own " excuse here. Even if Bush wasn't on TV, he still would have to go due to the magnitude of her Husbands Legacy. Not only that, he would have to contend with the massive backlash from the black community had he not attended. Yes, she was a public figure, but most of this funeral had nothing to do with Her at all and focused on Bush instead. This was a disgrace and cheated her out of a classy service by real men of God.

  • the "to each his own" was to believing what you believe about the funeral. I personally found many inspirational moments in her funeral and I don't think it took away from her legacy at all. her children knew what could have happened and yet they chose to give her a public funeral anyway. This didn't make this magnificent woman any less class. Coretta was and AMAZING woman

  • Duh, I know what it means, but It's a bullshit excuse. There is no middle ground on shit like this. It's an excuse pure and simple.

  • i must say on this one, you lost me. But it's ok.

  • Let it be known that I don't like GW Bush one bit and I think he's been disastrous for this country. However there are certain things you don't do. I've spoken at a Funerals where there were people in attendance that I didn't mush care for. I just didn't focus so much of my words towards them as you run the risk of taking the focus off of the person for whom this service is supposed to be conducted for .

  • Point taken. I personally think that his words at the funeral were as empty at the rest of his politics. Yes, i agree, the funeral isn't the best place, but it was an opportunity where millions of people were watching. So it was a tough choice to make.

  • You don't seem to be taking into account the life that Coretta lived - a life of service to others and activism. Nothing in her life seems to indicate that she would have wanted her homegoing to be utterly self-centered. It seems she would have wanted even that moment to be of service to others, standing for what she believed was right. It seems quite fitting for the woman and her legacy to be honored as such. This was a fine celebration of an outstanding woman and what she stood for.

  • For starters, Jimmy Carter pointed out some of the obstacles overcome, and due to the nature of the lives they lived, the service they were committed to, and the time they lived in, part of those obstacles were due to the government's response to their work. I hardly think he was suggesting that George W. or today's GOP was wiretapping the King Family in the 1960's. Also, he was drawing comparisons between their lives and dream and circumstances today. And did you see more besides this 1:19?

  • Did you see Maya Angelou's remarks about her chosen sister? Did you see Bill Clinton's remarks about "there's a woman" lying in that box that they were honoring? Did you see him wondering what the King children were thinking, asking if maybe they were thinking as he thought when he lost a parent? Wondering if they were thinking about when their parents used to read them bedtime stories, etc.? As far as what you will or won't tolerate, it seems your tolerance is based on a portion of the picture.

  • Ha. Wiretapping, Katrina. And in front of Bush too! Loving Jimmy Carter.

  • carter is some kinda of shit

  • quinccy... Now there is a guy that doesnt mince any words...How refreshing

  • Fuck u,him and err'body ..matta of fact fuck yalllllllll ...

  • I had respect fo dis whyte man ...but fuck him

  • Cut the fake black talk. No body says "fo," you idiot.

  • What did he do that would make you come out your face with such language?

  • And so did a few others

  • DISGRACEFUL!!! He just had to bring in politics into it. He ruined the funeral service!!!

  • The life that Coretta lived was politics. Was it not?

  • A funeral is held to honor the memory of THE PERSON. If you say something political, then people are going to remember THAT instead of THE PERSON. Both George Bush and Ted Kennedy spoke at the funeral, but it wasn't political.

  • Once in a while, when I hear people talk about Coretta Scott King, they ALWAYS mention Carter criticizing Bush at the funeral.

THAT'S THE ONLY THING THEY REMEMBER ABOUT THE FUNERAL!!!!!

They say, "...oh and remember when Carter said...."

10 years from now it's going to be, "Carter criticised Bush on wire tapping in a speech at a funeral..... who's funeral was that again?"

  • Could someone other then a person who apparently covers FOX NEWS download each and every speaker at Coretta's funeral.....it appears that most are scared to let the world see that the entire republican party was humiliated and had no right to be where they were at. I want to see Bill and Hillary Clinton speak so eloquently w/out notes (as G.W. did) I want to hear the Rev. Joe Lowery speak his peace as well as Dr. Maya Angelou. ...let the voices be heard.

  • darv23, COMMIE..It's funny you happened to use that term! Declassified Russian documents revealed that without Dr. King's knowledge, KGB funds were being funneled to 60's civil rights activities!

  • what a moron you are terrorterminator Jimmy speaks the truth and ur just a commie sob

  • Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott King, James Earl Carter ... Georgia's heroes. They make us proud.

Idiot son Bush can only sit there and smirk because he isn't worthy to sit in the presence of great men and women.

  • Yeah, it's too bad there were very few great men and women present at Mrs. King's funeral. Just the usual grievance hustlers and America haters. Jimmy is still so bitter about losing in 1980 that all he can do is show contempt for the USA.

It's sad to see that he has grown into such a pathetic irrelevant has been.

  • Dissent is the best way to NOT show contempt for the USA

  • Correct... it's just astonishing that very few people can tell the difference between DISSENT as opposed to DISTAIN.

  • Actually it's spelled "disdain," and I'm glad that Jimmy C (along with Dr. Lowery) continued the King tradition of showing disdain for the elements of this country that are horrific and shameful and praising those fighting back.

  • Thanks for pointing it out! I hate when I do that that.

  • What kind of retarded insult is it to call someone an "America-hater"? That's like saying, "Oh, yeah? We'll, you're gay!" How the hell do you know if Jimmy Carter hates America? He's spent the last 25 years building houses for the poor; Reagan immediately went on million-dollar speaking tours after leaving office, and you right-wingers practically fellate him!

Get your head out of your ass and stop trying to distract from the disaster that Bush is by spreading despicable lies about people.

  • johnny... Maybe America Hater is not accurate, How about: "Gay America Hater"? Jimmy has gone over to the dark side. I just hope he doesnt build houses like he ran the country. And talking about Reagan, Jimmy will never have the attendance @ his funeral that Reagan had. Noted quote from Jimmy: "Amy is worried about nuclear proliferation". Noted quote by Reagan: Mr Gorbachev, "TEAR DOWN THIS WALL"! Jimmy put the oozer in loser! And by the way, I prefer to use the word Queer not Gay!

  • Comparing quotes between Carter and Regan is silly. Carter wrote most of his own speeches. Regan was known for not setting his own policies, let alone writing speeches and he probably had Alzheimers during his second term. Famous Quote "Blaming Regan for US policy is like blaming Ronald McDonald for the quality of your Big Mac."

  • So you would prefer a President with Alzheimers? You must love George W. and his Bushisms. My comment was focused on the speeches. Regan appealed to an 80's America that liked slogans over thinking. So comparing Regan's speeches to Carter's is unfair. Carter thought for himself - even if he failed I prefer that over having Ronald McDonald running the government.

  • Amen!

  • At least Jimmy Carter made something of his life, LIKE BECOMING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!

  • The only reason Ronald Regan became President was because he was an actor. He was not that great of a leader. He was not for the poor. Jimmy did his best. Of course there will never be another great leader like Bill.

  • Johnnyclavis...

why do elevate the "poor" with such esteem? If a person is "poor" they are either lazy or stupid. And since education is free in the US, I guess that makes them "LAZY"!

Of course like most everyone, you probably don't really care about the "poor" but your platitudes do make for great copy.

  • Jimmy Carter was one of the truest men of faith ever to serve as president.
