@PretentiousPainters I haven't heard anything about a new Space marine codex yet. It all seems to be Tau, Chaos and possibly a White Dwarf Black Templars codex over the next year.
@EryxUK ok just that i enjoy the fluff of the ultra's and want to play them for fun(im not overly competitive) and didnt want to start them if they were getting a new codex within a couple of months, but i guess not so thanks for the quick reply.
Good video! But I'm just curious as to how you have learned or are trying to learn how to play with the new codex. I assume that if you have been playing SM since 40ks inception then you wouldnt let a codex like this hold ya back. how have ya faired?
@nikolaizolo I still keep playing despite how bland and underpowered the codex is. I continue to try different lists and tactics. As much as I grumble about it in this vid, I'll keep playing it. I just hope that the next SM codex will be better.
the amount of ap3 weaponary is high, but don't forget that 5th is the edition of the cover save. Smart use of cover brings them to about 15pts i think, but i think they do need ccw (but then they need something to differenciate Tac. Marines from Grey Hunters)
Maybe cover two of three special characters a video. They form such an integral part of the 'dex, they really shouldn't be left out
@khorneguy I disagree. 12 points is about right. As I mention in that vid, GW doesn't take into consideration the amount of AP3 or better weapons in the game. SM players are paying for an armour safe that they often don't get.
I did originally start the vids with a review of the SC's but the vids went on too long and so that bit had to be cut or redone. I like to keep these vids to about 10 minutes.
You think the DA codex is superior to the newest SM codex? Interested to hear views on that, I thought the DA codex following after the previous SM was poor at best, then as you say the newest SM was disappointing.
How long until a new codex, do you know how about 6th ed?

12 points would be way too cheap. Maybe 15 each like they were in the last codex
I actually find the Thunderfire Cannon quite useful tbh, but yeah they could benefit with being a 1-3 per slot option
You should cover the Special Characters, that's where the army starts to shine.
I still think they should bring traits back from the last codex

@EnglishBeaver DA isn't an awful lot better but theres little things that make it more desirable over the generic SM codex.
