  • Is this really Kanye West? This sounds good. He need to keep singing and stop rapping.

  • Personally, I like this version. I've heard this Cash version and I didn't care for it. It was too....country.

  • this version is obviously influenced by black gospel singers. If you've ever been to a black church, this is common.

  • this isnt disrespectful to the song.. it WOULD be disrespectful if he made it into a rap song with fake beats and stuff like that

  • Ya'll know Cash didn't write the song right?

  • It's not the MESSENGER it's the MESSAGE!

  • this is one big BUMMER.

  • Kanye what are you doing?

  • fuck religion

  • check out the song in the video responses its great!

    help spread Gods Word!

  • I 'm glad he is singing it. Let GOD do what HE want to do with it. It isn't too late for Kanye. Truth is, unless they die, it isn't too late for both Kanye and Jay-z. I'd love to praise JESUS with the both of them in heaven---and not because of who they are on this earth. I don't want to see anyone go to hell. Pray for folk, celebs too. They need it really bad. GOD will get the glory, HE in the only one who deserves it. Praise the LORD JESUS CHRIST forever!

  • @peacheslovesjesus hey i feel ya man that's good stuff! take a look at my music im a new artist just trying to help spread Gods word! tell me what you think :)

  • Just wish it was longer!

  • he ruined it :|

  • @TheJackel117 how?

  • @BenjaminKuruga dude..come on...its more of a johnny cash..and as rambobadidi siad jonny didn't need a back up singer and lets face it...kanye west..is sorta of a douch bag >_> but its more of a johnny cash song bro

  • @TheJackel117 It's a gospel, it's for everyone.

  • @TheJackel117 You're an idiot.

This is a standard old gospel song. Everyone and their mother has sung this song.

    Get fucked.

  • @Seanis8bit dude...i wasn't dissing the song..i just don't like kanye sinning second of all...there no need for that language good sir :| honestly...

  • those of you complaining that johnny cash did it better are obviously country fans who probably never even listened to this album...this version is great and it fits perfectly on the album, its not meant to appeal to you. and for the record johnny cash's voice doesnt even compare to this

  • This made me vomit all over my keyboard. Way to destroy music.

  • If johnny watched this ..prolly he Gon die Again

  • You guys are fucking stupid. This was on Kanye's debut album; College Dropout. He is the one that remade the song to sound like this.

  • KANYE WEST WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING!!??!?!?!

  • Kanye West?? My ears beg me to take the headphones off...

  • @uruk000 hahaha mine toooooooooo

  • can we just enjoy the song whoever sings it i mean its still a good song eather way!!! :)

  • fuck the 64 dislikes IGNORANT

  • I really like this. No matter who redid what,I think it's a good,wholesome song. <3

  • Beautiful & unique cover

  • Comment removed

  • Atleast it isnt about pimps and hos, its good that he can recognize a good song. But i dont like the way it sounds.

  • i personally like this. the mixed matched tones reminds me of sitting in a friends backyard on a late summer night and everyone just singing the song how they want to sing it. nothing wrong with not being perfect people ;)

  • Comment removed

  • i personally think there are too many people singing the same tone and their voices don't match up. some parts of this version was ok, but all in all i think it was not good at all.

  • best version of this

  • Kanye messing up another song. If anyone is interrested in a good version of this check out Johnny Cashs' cover. OP: Music isn't protected by trademark law; only copyright law.

  • @Lin4Masses hahah you dumbass, this isn't kanye... but you are right about johnny cash-he's amazing

  • @Lin4Masses Kanye had nothing to do with this song other than allowing it on his album. The piano is played by Ervin Pope and the vocals are Tony Williams and Deray, Kanye didn't sing or produce anything regarding the song.

  • its good music

  • Comment removed

  • Johnny Cash didn't need backup singers...

  • @rambobadidi yea, but johnny didnt write it. ANd I hate the fact that Kanye is singing this great song. He doesnt deserve to sing it

  • @rambobadidi .....its not about the skill of one person, its about the dynamics of the whole song being put together. some of the greatest masterpieces were made with large groups of musicians and/or singers.

  • Comment removed

  • @rambobadidi Hank Williams had backup singers...

  • Irockyouroll not I do not like it he ruins the song go and listen to Allison Krauss do it the correct way. Maybe listen to Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, Dolly Partonor Johnny cash and then you will see how the song was meant to be done.

  • Please go die in a hole.

  • :)

  • wow..what a voice

  • I like this version a lot *shrug*

  • Comment removed

  • He needs to stick to what he does best

  • @ghostryder65 do u not like this?

  • @hitsuzen11 how about you know your facts and actually not go from google this song has been around for many many years..your are probably going by that guys version of the song but it has been in churches for ages :) so before you try to out do someone in comments check your facts twice

  • @yvonnev1122 You're right. This song has been around for many years. Since about 1929 when Mr. Albert E. Brumley wrote it. Did you even bother to research it before you typed your opinion?

    Nice try, though. :)

  • So many stupid ignorant racist on here, both Johnny Cash's and Kanye's versions are good, stop being so judgemental on the song because you don't like Kanye, fuck.

  • KANYE WEST, MUST YOU RUIN EVERYTHING???

  • nope. nu uh. NIGGAS CANT SING GOSPEL. AINT HAPPENIN

  • @bellybutton333333 actually black people can actually sing amazing gospel have you ever seen any tyler perry movies?

  • I want this played at my funeral... Its to dope

  • Nope, don't like this arrangement

  • kanye west fucks everything up, how the hell is he famous, get his dumb fucking ass of a hank williams track, this is sadding the whole god damn world, jesus crist

  • @chadabooo This is not a Hank williams track, it's a gospel, and I believe he did great on it, he didn't add any bullshit autotune, or any bullcrap with his voice, he didn't add any ridiculous lyrics. He did very well.

  • Comment removed

  • @chadabooo It's a gospel.

  • @BenjaminKuruga yea but kanye still fucked it all up, he cant sing, he is trash

  • If you love this shit, search "Pink Moon Fuck That" they are sooooo FUCKING ill. Lol, I think they deserve way more recognition!!!! DO IT!

  • My favorite song ever.

  • niggers cant sing gospel. they should stick to talkin fast in a machine that makes them sound like musicians.

  • @TheCoultermason Assholes should stick to not being trolls.

  • @TheCoultermason Troll...

  • @TheCoultermason lol you are a retard. a lot of gospel came from negro spirituals.

  • @TheCoultermason You are so ignorant. I don't know who you're calling niggers, but if you're referring to Black people, maybe you should realize that a lot of your white people sing our gospel songs. Most of Elvis' gospel songs are songs he got from The Golden Gate Quartet and The Harmonizing Four as well as other Black gospel groups. His church in Memphis, East Trigg, is Black. The father of Gospel music is Thomas A. Dorsey, a Black man. Education is a remedy for stupidity. Try to get some!!

  • @TheCoultermason

Are you smoking crack, your probably retarted

The negro spritual got gospel started

  • @TheCoultermason black people made gospel you dumb ass mayonaise abuser.

  • @T3r3Teezy808 actually...gospel refers to the good news....and music being sung about the good news of Christ was neither initially sung by blacks, whites, hispanics, or whatever....the first beings singing songs to praise God and Christ were the Angels....give it up for the Angels for making Gospel music so popular!!!

  • @T3r3Teezy808 Wow you just go all over the Internet saying dumb things don't you.

  • @T3r3Teezy808

lmfao you're comment made me spit my drink out.

    "dumb ass mayonnaise abuser"

    that's really funny.

  • this is cool

  • Hank Williams Sr did the best version of this song by far.

Honestly knowing Kanyes history I half expected him to rap it and throw in bitch every other sentance lol nice version!

  • actually, This song has been done by a lot of people that could be described as a "broke a**ed cowboy" ...hank williams, charley pride, hezekiah walker, the carter family, and johnny cash to name just a few, hank did not write it,it was a gospel song for quite a while before he sang it, but he did wright "I saw the light" .

  • @hitsuzen11 @snmason13 PWNED bitch!

    boosh.

  • @snmason13

    No, his nigger slave is.

  • @saturdaysghost fuck you, racist xD

  • he likes fish sticks

  • @snmason13 go look up allison krauss ill fly away thats how it was meant to be sung

  • Can't we all just get along. It's a beautiful song no matter who sings it.

  • Comment removed

  • @snmason13 no sense in lowering yourself by makeing personal attacks my brother for no matter how the Lord is rejoiced he is still rejoiced ! God Bless

  • @snmason13 who are you to say anybody else's version isn't true gospel form i prefer my broke ass white cowboy singers versions.

  • Allison Krauss' version, or johnny cash' versions are definitely the best but this is one REALLY good one too!

  • There is no "right" or "wrong" in a style of music. No matter what genre exists.. And personal lifestyles, including the writers personality and/or personal actions, shouldn't incorporate into peoples judgements of their music. Just because Kanye has made some mistakes in his life doesn't mean his music is wrong. He's a great artist and that's all that should matter. If all you care about is personality and what he's done so much then join TMZ because the celebrity aspect is all you care about.

  • Comment removed

  • Kanye's version is definitely the best, most soul and gospel

  • Imma let you finish, but Johnny Cash does one of the best versions of this of all time.

  • This is my favourite song off "College Dropout"!

  • STFU

  • this is bullshi###. Kanye aint flying nowhere.

  • Kanye west has no buisness singing goespel music, im not trying to be a hater or anything...But he has a selfish attitude and comes off as a complete spoilt bastard.

  • @TheKyOutlaw If you consider yourself Christian/Catholic, shouldn't you be forgiving of people? Yeah, Kanye made mistakes that were put on the media worldwide. I'm pretty sure all of us made mistakes that are embarassing in our lifetimes, but was it broadcasted globally and put on Youtube? Hell no.

  • @TheKyOutlaw agreed.. as soon as i saw this song title attached to his name i laughed.

  • @snmason13 why do all cowboys have to be white?! Obviously you've never heard of Hootie and the Blowfish lol

  • I love this version and it doesn't matter who sings it or how as long as God gets the praise! That being said the only thing I didn't like about it was, it was just too short.

  • This song was did not originate from gospel genre or from "cowboys" , It is a very old Bluegrass song. In other words it is from the "old English genre" in Appalachian region, That being said, he does it very well.

  • @snmason13 I love the song, but dislike the negative connotations surrounding your comment. We sing praise to the lord to give him the glory, not to say, so and so did it better.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm having this played at my funeral.

  • we lose lennon and somehow this guy walks around?

  • Actually I am pleasantly surprised at this....I never knew West ever sang Gospel but this is well done!

  • @Albertanator this is deff not Kanye West singing it. Its on his first album but whoever sang it didnt get album credit for it.

  • @ourownlove Oh ok...thanks ......well who ever is singing, it is sure nice!

  • @Albertanator its tony williams singing here, hes always kanyees back up singer

  • @HenryTPrice Thanks for the info Henry!

  • The accordion is Gods only anointed instrument

  • its only intended the way that I sing it, and with my accordion

  • Thanks for ruining it my friend. This was written by a southern white man. It was meant to be sang in a church like a hymn. It shouldn't matter how it's being sung anyway, it's a Gospel song, singing about God.

  • @RisinOutlaw21 if it dont maata u racist prick then shut the fuck up about it

  • @bjthekid21 How was I being racist?

  • Comment removed

  • @snmason13 If by gospel, you mean urban gospel, you are correct. However, this song was originally performed and written in southern gospel style, so take that as you will. Still, good song.

  • SO GOOD. Makes me wanna get on a plane and travel to the sun.

  • @snmason13 If your referring to Johnny Cash - he is not a broke ass cowboy

  • @shanski2011 you're*

  • @shanski2011 Johnny Cash ain't broke ass! What the hell are you saying?

  • @snmason13 oh my god... you spoke from my soul dude...

  • omg johnny cash's version is so much better!!

  • @firefirefuneralpyre now u know u liein

  • @snmason13 Albert E. Brumley wrote the song and he was white, not sure it was meant to be sung like this either, it's down to interpretation I suppose.

  • @superdonyoungy albert wrote gospel music so.....this is how you're supposed to sing it

  • @ffuhhi962 that's a very naive statement, things like R & B and gospel are all interpreted differently in different places, it's down to influences and areas. At the end of the day if you like it and it works for you then I'm happy, personally for this song I don't like this version, but I do like some of Kanyes other stuff. Alison Krauss or the Kossoy sisters version of this song sound far better in my opinion, though I bet they couldn't rap like Kanye!.

  • The dislike bar is the size of Lady GaGa's penis. It's pretty short, but it just shouldn't be there.

  • My personal favorite version of the song is allison krauss. Beautiful.

  • @ snmason13 way to take away from the spirit my friend. Doesn't matter who sings a gospel song, its a shout out to our father from his children...black or white.

  • @snmason13 This song is older than the true "Gospel" stop blocking it with race.

  • Yo Kayne, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Johnny Cash has one of the best 'I'll fly away' covers of all time!

  • @cygmx I disagree Alisson Krause has the best cover

  • @snmason13 Woah, brother. Racism = no good. Peace and love.

About the video itself, great song! I love this rendition of it! I think that this is how it should be sung!

  • @snmason13 charley pride was black

  • Rapture music !!!

  • This is Tony Williams singing! Kanye's cousin.

  • not a big fan of Kanye, but I have to admit. This is a radical version it's very southern gospel. I dig it

  • hmmm i really truthfully saw johnny cash sung it then found a link so both are real great i havent heard the original though

  • @snmason13 broke as WHITE cowboy whos racist now

  • Pretty decent, i don't normally like kanye but this is good

  • I don't hear kayne, I hear brian macknight....

  • Surprised me

  • its nasty to see a satanist like kanye doing religious music...

  • @CineckaNebekenezerr Kanye has done his share of stupid and foolish things, but as God said in the bible, only he truly knows the heart of a person. not man, not pastor, not pope, but God. So we have no right to judge him, because that is not in our place to do so.

  • @jnyerere I think it's good to let the children know what a bogus person he is, so they don't emulate him... but yes you're right... bless that man

  • Why doesn't he use his vocal talent in songs like this more often? I honestly never knew he sung songs like this. Pretty amazing!

  • 18 ppl wont fly away. lol

  • He calls himself a genius and this is all he can come up with. No offense to anyone who likes this but it's pure crap compared to Johnny Cash, and to even take the same title, is an insult.

  • @xbackslashx obviously...u tried to hate on his other songs but they all good songs....this is where u resulted to....a 1:34 length song and he's not even on it... :(

  • @willy81811 I tried to hate on his other songs? Well I wasn't aware of that. Kanye is a dick, be honestly his music is pretty good for a genre I don't particulaly even care for. He is talented, he just thinks too highly of himself.

  • @xbackslashx Dude Cash did not write this song, either, though his version is great and nostalgic. It was written by Albert Brumley.

  • This is the best rendition I've heard of this song... Too bad Kanye probably didn't actually do this song.

  • @snmason13 We get it, but never, ever put down Johnny Cash..

  • sounds shit.

    sincerly,

    The United Kingdom.

  • @EastlakeSecret your peoples breath smells like shit.

    Sincerely,

    The United States of America

  • @EastlakeSecret i agree i HATE this man!!!!

  • @EastlakeSecret who cares what u think. ur from the UK lmao.

  • @iamjordandavoll grow up

  • @EastlakeSecret lol sorry i just wanted to say that to piss you off haha :)

  • wait this is legit Kanye?

  • thanks for ruining a percet song

  • Damn he really ruined the song....

  • I think ppl who say that he ruined this song are fucking idiots. Lets see yall try to do some shit like this. Go sit in a studio and try to produce some shit... my nigga here locked himself an entire summer to make shit like this and better shit. This shit sounds just as good and if not better then the OG. Now a days niggas wouldnt dare to dedicate so much time into something they love so muchh.

  • Klown-ya, I mean Kanye just totaly messed up this song.

  • 100th like :D

  • He ruined this song.

  • One of my favorite songs. <3

  • Don't get me wrong, I really like this song. I just don't get what Kanye did with it. He didn't compose it, didn't write it, didn't write the lyrics, didn't make a beat for it, didn't record the piano piece, didn't even sing it. I mean fuck did he just copy and paste the whole song onto his first album?

  • @vTheBlueprinTv He produced this.
