I know Im just another random person posting onhere. But....This song has made me take stockof the important things in my life. My wife and I seperated 6 months ago and........I have changed so much about who I am. When I think of everything I have changed in my self and been through in the last 6 months, I....am amazed. The Tide has come in. My childhood sweetheart of thirty years ago has come back, and we have married. We cannot have children now, but we can have each other. Danny & Lisa, married December 20, 2011, and today is our first month aniversery.
I have had 4 near death experiences. 3 were me having a seizure and falling backward on the concrete. the last was a antibiotic drug a doc prescribed for me,interacted with the Dilantin while the doctor tripled my Dilantin dosage cause he claimed it was too low. They both interacted nearly killing me.... Some people don't realize how precious their life is. God showed me how precious life is. Had I died any one of those 4 times, I wouldn't be here typing this paragraph today. God kept me alive

@noahRKO I meant underrated in relative terms. On my end of the world, Cast Away isn't close to the first thing people envision when discussing Tom Hanks or even Zemeckis. It also failed to earn any nomination at the AA, other than a Best Actor for Hanks.
It deserved far more acclaim and needs to be remembered in the annul of the world's greatest films.

I think of the one Lady I didn't ask out when we were growing up on the old home town. I never had the courage to. I later heard that she married a guy who abused her. We have reconnected after 30 years, and I find my heart is still filled with loving her, and the two of us wishing I had asked her out. We might've been celebrating our 30th Christmas this year if I only asked her out. Maybe, just maybe, we'll have Our Christmas this year.

I always wonder at the people who write these soundtracks like Castaway, Shawshank Redemption, etc. I wonder if the bandleader is like "Okay guys, if you're sobbing in the fetal position when you're done playing, I know we have a hit."

I dedicate this song to my Grandfather George who unexpectedly passed away from advanced pneumonia on sept 7th at 11:05 p.m. I never got the chance to tell you goodbye, I wish I could have been there but was to late. George was someone who you could count on being there for you, someone who put his hand on you're shoulder when you were down. A man that no matter what would be there to help, even if it practically killed him. George was a pharmacist for over 50yrs and loved his work. Miss you pop

Perhaps its a testament to the talent of Tom Hanks that he is able to invoke such strong feelings through the character that we have empathy towards him about his loss. I don't want to over-analyze it, but your comment triggered these thoughts.

@illisanantexico Tom Hanks is so good. I genuinely forgot for a while that Wilson wasn't a real character because of Tom's emotional reaction towards him/it. It upsets me that he loses the only thing he has and how destroyed he becomes by it. He actually gives up on everything and lets his oars float away :'(
