hey i love watching there videos i live in mexico but im an american i wanna no becuase im siging for the interexchange program and i want to finish high shcool over there i was wondering would iv bee doing good if im a fluint spanish and english speaker i speak a little japanease i speake about 40% i want to know an americans aspect so i can sign up tommarow?? and merry xmas
I agree... a little American consumerism but not to much! Unfortunately Walmart has a steak in some self check out machines and owns some stores here but aside from the small print saying its owned by Walmart there is no obvious major infiltration at least not yet. Costco and Ikea are running strong though.
Ahhh yes watching the paint dry I miss the slow crackle well yea the mall has a firm foot hold but Walmart is not really here yet but sadly Costco and Ikea are big in Japan now..... the western sickness has finally come..... then again Japan has embraced the consumerism with a vengeance. Fortunately we can still find covered shopping plazas and Japanese mom and pop shops they are not dead yet just a bit exploited.

I dont know about the High School Exchange program. You consulate should know about it. Its different in each country. Cheers and Happy New Year!

I definitely hope malls don't catch on in Japan like the way they have in the USA.
Malls and Wal-Mart pretty much wiped out the old "downtown" mom and pop store.
I'm with you on the "I'm not a mall person" thing. I'd rather watch paint dry than go to the mall.
