  • She's probably Type 2 since she stopped needing insulin. However the other issue is that we don't necessarily understand type 1.5 aka type 3 diabetes very well yet and so we can't judge the level of insulin needs.

  • In my opinion she didn't seem so sure of herself at the end...when she said "yes, yes." It looked like a lie.

  • @1moreon this dude is just retarted lol.. I'm diabetic and I can tell you this, if I eat a fuckin salad without taking my insulin I can almost imedeitly feel the pain of high blood suger.. its not like suger is the only enemy here.. almost everything breaks down into a percentage of glucose ya faggot.. get a life

  • Key features re: Type 1B and Halle Berry: "An absolute requirement for insulin replacement therapy in affected patients may come and go" and "Most who fall into this category are of African, .. origin etc"

  • She obviously has not been well-educated about her diabetes.

  • Some forms of Type 1 diabetes have no known etiologies. Some have permanent insulin deficiency and are prone to ketoacidosis but have no evidence of autoimmunity. Most who fall into this category are of African, Hispanic, or Asian origin. Individuals with this form of diabetes suffer from episodic ketoacidosis and exhibit varying degrees of insulin deficiency between episodes. An absolute requirement for insulin replacement therapy in affected patients may come and go.

  • It seems almost certain that Halle Berry has Type 1B diabetes, not the usual Type 1(A), autoimmune variety, which always requires injected/infused insulin for survival.

    Idiopathic diabetes (Type 1B).

  • I am also diabetic and I also hope to be a successful actress (and singer) like her and to prove that having diabetes shouldn't effect your dreams and ambitions. Please visit my youtube page to hear me sing :)

  • she didnt cure shit type 1 is incurable cuz its a auto-immune disease, type 2 is self induced so you can in return reverse it by eating healthy if you act on it soon enough. the only way you can not take insulin shots for type 1 is if your not eating any carbs (which isnt healthy for you cuz your body needs the energy) either that or she just always had type 2 and was misdiagnosed and had been treating it like type 1

  • The drug doctors/md's are only trained to prescribe drugs or surgery. They usually attack anyone who tries anything else. The drugs they prescribe end up killing or injuring thousands of lives every year.Over 65000 lawsuits against drug companies within 6 years.Drugs like actos, avandia, ritalin, accutane, zyprexa, paxil, cimzia etc. They prescribe these to suppress symptoms and the side effects are heart failures, strokes etc.Actos causes bladder cancers also. Its a criminal industry that promotes fraud.

  • @TheFriendlyEngineer And does any of this have to do with this video? What are you saying diabetics shouldn't take Insulin?! It's the same old rant from you Engineer. Don't you ever get tired of posting the same old crap? You don't want to take medications or see a doctor? Fine! You are free as a bird not to. Millions ARE helped.Their lives improved and saved every day.As with most things in life nothing is risk free.

  • @TheFriendlyEngineer Clearly you don't understand how our system really works. Just because thousands of people sign on to sue a pharmaceutical company doesn't prove that the person was harmed by the medication they were/are taking. Anyone sitting home watching the commercials who is in poor health is open to taking some easy money if they can get it. Without the meds a lot of these people would have died a long time ago.

  • By the way I am not a type 2 diabetic, I am a Type 1 diabetic. I don't eat much fat. I don't drink reg. or diet soda. I eat raw fruits and veggies, whole grains, ect. I don't know how eating more carbs would reduce my insulin because that is what I am counting when I take an injection. So no matter how hard I try I can never contract type 2 diabetes.

  • @jmagnuson95 What I am trying to say is...as a type 1 diabetic I cannot get rid of diabetes whether I am the healthiest eater in the world or exercise more than anyone else. There is no cure for type 1. The reason I have to take (insulin) is because I will die if I don't. When my cells got attacked, they destroyed all of the insulin in the pancreas. That is why I have to take injections.

  • @jmagnuson95 and you are truly right , Mrs Berry just dont know what she is talking about, there is no upgrading from type 1 to type 2, because they are both two different illness. type 1 your body does not produce enough insulin. and type 2 is more related to high Sugar levels or low sugar levels and diet and working out.... they are similar that one has not enough insulin and the other has too much.

  • Type one's don't ever turn into type two's. She is misinformed plain and simple. She may mean well and be trusting some quack who told her that but it's not true. Of course it's always possible that she was misdiagnoses initially. She could have been told that she was type one when she was really type two. If she was type one then she is still type one.

  • Hally Berry either had type 2 or type 1.5

    Not type 1.

  • @Annanonymous641 type 1. 5 LMAO that's a good one, I think she has type 2, because thats the only one where you can be somewhat cured if you eat right and work out ect.. type 1 you have to keep taking the insulin to be healthy.

  • @Mekelsior your F****ing with me right? "By the mother's bad lifestyle choices"? Really? Because she drank fucking milk...yeah terrible, terrible, lifestyle choice. And you obviously know nothing about type 1.IT IS AUTOIMMUNE, which means your immune system RANDOMLY attacks your pancreas. & you cannot freaking reverse it, ever!

Believe me, I WISH you were right. I WISH I could reverse it. If it was based on diet and exercise I'd be CURED ALREADY! I've been skinny and eating healthy since birth!

  • My Gawd is Moreon the moron still breathing? Lets all prey that he gets type 1 diabetes real soon! Im sure he'll fix himself out within a week...by dying due to not taking his insulin! haha

  • @actrapide"Lets all prey that he gets type 1 diabetes real soon! Im sure he'll fix himself out within a week" I SECOND THAT!! Yep, it looks like he's still around trying to torture Type1 diabetics. All you Type 1's just ignore Moreon the Moron. How ya been actrapide? I wrote several letters to Hally's "people" and to the JDF for who she a spokes person. No response. But I wish more would do the same, :-)

  • pretty good

  • Type 1 Diabetic's can't be "weaned off" insulin. Halle is mistaken, ALL TYPE 1'S NEED INSULIN AND YOU CAN'T JUST CHANGE CATEGORIES. I wish she would put out an accurate video. She must of been misdiagnosed. Some Type 2 Diabetic's take insulin.

  • As a Type I Diabetic for over 30 years now...This is BAD information...if she was diabetic when she was a child...SHE WOULD HAVE KNOWN....You made be a tad insensitive to pain, but unless you have lost body parts...PAIN STIMULUS DOES HURT...

  • OMG! Thinks she had it for most of her childhood, how infuriating to type1s. It a very rapid developing disease. Doctors say that she must have had type 2. She probably got type 2 young because she was not eating right trying to stay stick thin.

  • For all of you CLOWNS talking about Diabetes WITHOUT distinguishing between Type I and Type 2, SHUTUP and stop embarassing yourselves

  • She is a fukin idiot! You CANNOT cure a Type-I diabetic, as the pancreas does NOT produce insulin, and the only way to "cure" is with a pancreas transplant. This dumbass had type-2 ALWAYS...meaning, simply, her body did not and does not produce the PROPER amount of insulin. Fuk type-2, type-2 is a joke. Eat well, take your weak ass pills and exercise. It is like comparing a fukin Ferrari to a Yugo. Don't believe any of this shit

  • @dmoney668 You cannot cure type 1 with a pancreas transplant because it is an auto-immune disease, so if you put in a new one the immune system again destroys the beta cells on the new pancreas too.

  • I have a friend who is dramatically helping diabetics by getting them on ionized water and Real Salt (available at most healthfood stores) measure your blood sugar, sprinkle a litte of this salt in the palm of your hand, toss it in your mouth, drink a glass of ionized water and wait a few minutes and take a reading again. it will probably be down 50 points! I interviewed him on a podcast episode titled -Water, Salt & Grass- see "The Call of a Leader" on iTunes store

  • @ruexcited2 I certainly hope you aren't referring to type 1diabetics doing this to treat their diabetes! You do realize how insulting it is when someone suggests that THEY have the answer to cure a disease that is presently incurable but is treatable with proper diet, exercise and most importantly life saving INSULIN injections every single day

There are brilliant researchers trying desperately to find a real cure for this autoimmune disease.Magic water & special salt aren't the cure!

  • I think that diabetes is result of poor diet and nutrition in the USA. Our food supply is tainted by poisons, like Roundup herbacide. No wonder we are sick, with all kinds of sicknesses. Eat organic, and go raw vegan. Beware, cancer is becoming commonplace. Doctors don't want a cure for sicknesses, they don't make money on healthy people.

  • @skunkymonkey55 "Doctors don't want a cure for sicknesses, they don't make money on healthy people"

I really despise and hate ignorant comments like this!First of all there is tons of money to be made from treatments and cures. What about all the countries where health care is FREE?The doctor's don't make money predicated on who's sick. The fact is doctors, pharm employees, researchers, etc all get sick too! They all want better treatments and cures too! This idea is a cont.

  • @skunkymonkey55 cont. false one spread by the alt. med. anti mainstream crowd. Another myth is that if it's NATURAL is can't be patented. This is also untrue. Many drugs come from nature and are readily patented. If something is properly tested and found to work it will become MEDICINE. Type 2 is most often caused by poor lifestyle choices, but NOT type 1.This is a VERY important distinction!

  • @sweetclaire06 Actually, type 1 diabetes is indirectly caused by bad life style choices, by the mother, who either drinks cows milk during pregnacy and or gives the child cows milk while they are young. Because of the protein and the sugar in milk are considered intruders if they get through the gut wall, the body then produce anti bodies that attack the beta cells of the pancrea.

  • @Mekelsior Actually the genetic markers that determine who gets T1 diabetes have been identified. What you are babbling about (cows milk, proteins, sugars) is absolute bull shit. Sugar in the milk are considered intruders if they get through the gut wall?!!! WTF?? You're a real hoot!

  • @sweetclaire06 your the real hoot srag. You belive that genetic marker bullshit. I guess you also belive in the tooth fairy and the easter bunny. By the way I don't hate drug companies because of course there just trying to make money like any other company. I hate idiots like you who blindly follow and promote there marketing dressed up as research and then attack good people who are only wanting to warn other about the endless fraud and deaths that happen as a result of them.

  • @1moreon So you don't believe in DNA?! Why am I not surprised. You're an idiot Moron (Moreon). You know NOTHING about diabetes either T1 or T2. In your eyes 99.9% of all doctors, endocrinologists, scientists, researchers, etc. are WRONG. But you Moron (Moreon) have the ANSWER.And it's a diet! Why don't you try reading real scientific info instead of the altie, fringe, unproven, crap like you eat up on Robert Young's site?Genetic marker bull shit? Were you on the OJ jury? What a dumb ass.

  • @Mekelsior Please clarify, what disease you are talking about? The commercial on the Tv you just saw was talking about Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetics get it from bad genetics. You cannot get Type 1 from a bad lifestyle of eating and exercise...that is Type 2! Furthermore to clarify your mixed up little head, not all Type 2 diabetics contract the disease from eating habits and no excercise. Believe it or not there are type 2 diabetics that have a extremely healthy weight.

  • @jmagnuson95 Type 1 diabetes is not caused by genetics alone, but by dairy products. If the recipient of the dairy products have a leaky gut, then animal proteins will enter the blood stream and cause an immuno reaction, the body will produce any bodies that will be similar to the beta cells on the pancreas, both will be attacked and the person has type 1.

  • @Mekelsior I agree that genetics is not the only thing that causes it....in my case it was though. You can get diabetes from a prolonged illness ect, ect.

  • @jmagnuson95 "Mixed up little head" cute.. ok as for type 2, it is caused by fat and it does not matter if the person is thin or fat, it is fat in the cells. The reason why loosing weight removes type 2 is that it also gives the cells time to metabolize the cells so that sugar can be removed from the blood and the insulin production can normalize. So, a person eating a high fat diet, with reduced ability to metabolize fat in the cells wont be able to deal with the sugar and get it.

  • @Mekelsior Not all people can lose weight and just remove diabetes. What about thin people? Do they just keep losing weight until they rid themselves of diabetes?

  • @jmagnuson95 Consider what you eat, lower the fat intake to an absolute minimum then eat more carbohydrates. This means that if you become a low fat vegan your type 2 diabetes will be cleared up quickly. Give it a try 30 days, talk it over with your doctor and have him check everything and lower your medication when applicable. Problem with insulin is it puts fat into the cells, causing type 2.. so it is a viscious circle you have to break somehow, and that is done by low fat. :)

  • @jmagnuson95 Dr Neil Bernard made an analogy, when you left home today and locked the door to your house, then returned in the evening, finding that the key dont fit anymore, you try and try again but no avail. You then look and see someone have put gum (fat) into the keyhole, so you ponder and then go and open the window and goes inside, from now on you exit through the window. Why not remove the (fat) from your diet and become healthy again? :)

  • @Mekelsior So, tell me (since you have all of the answers) how do you remove [the fat] and become healthy again? Do you have Type 1/Type 2? Are you a certified doctor?

  • @jmagnuson95 I`m not a certified doctor, but I refer to cetified doctors that says the same. Dr Neil Bernard, Dr John McDougall and others. :) I don`t have type 2 but I was in the danger zone with my lifestyle, I`m still over weight but I have cut out fat from my diet and am now a low fat vegan, I also don`t use refined products to much, such as soft drinks. Oh yeah, dont drink soft drinks, not even the light versions, they cause type 2. =)

  • @jmagnuson95 I don`t however have all the answers.. just a few of them :)

  • Right @1moreon I hope you have established that there is no fucking cure for Type 1 diabetes. Dumbass.

  • ... bad move Halle ... don't speak of what you know NOTHING about ... you've just 'educated' people with erroneous 'facts' ... 'wean' yourself off of insulin and change from a type 1 to a type 2 diabetic ... NOT POSSIBLE ... idiots! we're surrounded!

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!

People, she was never a type 1 diabetic. She was misdiagnosed! Three or four years ago doctors did not know as much as they know now. They assumed that she was a type 1 because she maintained a healthy lifestyle and weight. The truth is, despite your efforts to staying healthy, you can get type 2 by stress, sickness, and especially genetics. You don't always get type 2 by eating sugar and eating unhealthy.

I am Type 1, my mom is type 2 (she is 110 pounds)

  • @jmagnuson95 I'm type 1 too. I'd say she got type 2 because she didn't eat right, always trying to stay stick thin. Lots of anorexics and people with eating disorders are at risk from type 2.

  • @jmagnuson95 Absolutely EVERYTHING you say here is TRUE! I wish more people were as well informed. But then again you are dealing with BOTH types.

    Be well. :-)

  • You can't be cured...that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. My dad is type 1 and really truly didn't understand his struggle until I was older. We had to lead a healthier lifestyle because of his dietary needs, but not having to take insulin are you serious. He's had to take it since he was 10 and has never stopped...can't...he pretty much has a useless pancreas. She was misdiagnosed if anything. You don't switch from 1 to 2.

  • She's on the same level as those morons who tell me "Oh, I am a Type 1 diabetic, too! I take insulin just like you!" No you are NOT a Type 1! You are a Type 2 who takes insulin because you couldn't lay off the sugar and let yourself get bad. I am also a chubby type 1 who was diagnosed at 48 years old. More than one doctor ASSUMED I was Type 2 or unnecessarily checked my antibodies AGAIN because I don't fit their picture of a Type 1. And you can stuff that LADA crap, too! I am Type 1 PERIOD.

  • this is shit about type 1 going to type 2,, i hope this is not were people r getting their knowledge,,, if u r type 1 ur pancreas does not work,,, one more time will never work this is no cure as of today,,, so u can not go from t1 to t2 she most likely need insulin all the time due to her t2 out of control and then her t2 she got in control reducing the need for insulin, but definitely. not t1 this in no way occurs in type 1 please people do not get missed informed t1 and t2 very different

  • I'm not hearing that she cured herself...just that she was misdiagnosed...it sounds to me like she was always type 2 but needed insulin therapy at first

  • one word can best describe her...Twit..

  • Wow, this is positively disturbing. Watch her facial expression when he asks if she's type 1. She has no clue what he means, or what type 1 means, she thinks and punts. Maybe it's type 2, or LADA, but to say she was type 1 & weaned herself off insulin - not possible. What's worse is that she's a celebrity spreading inaccurate and dangerous information. As a celeb she bares the responsibility of saying, you know, I really don't understand the types, but I can manage mine w/ diet. So disappointed!

  • @MommaKat9 - Are YOU absolutely sure? I have met a handful of people that have "cured" themselves of diabetes, high blood pressure, and other ailments plaguing our society by changing their diet. Search YouTube for the video "Raw Foods diet for Diabetes | Reversing Diabetes ( Anthony Robbins, Morgan Spurlock )"

  • This is bullshit. She probably just had type 2 the whole time. I've had type 1 diabetes for 5 years now and you CAN'T control it with diet & exercise, and there's no way that you can't notice that something's wrong before you get officially diagnosed. You don't just suddenly fall unconscious!

  • Yeah, another celebrity bites the dust. She's officially an idiot IMO. So, to Halle and to 1moreon: please, out of the gene pool. No more pro-creation for you!

Type I diabetes is NOT a lifestyle choice. It is an auto-immune disease. And, it can't be cured today. Type II, with diet and exercise, can be controlled. Carbs are a necessary part of any healthy diet - for Type I diabetics, Type II diabetics and non-diabetics. You aren't eating a healthy diet of strictly eggs and bacon.

  • @mstdohio Don't waste your time trying to reason with Moron er ah I mean@ Moreon.I see he's still popping up here spewing his garbage and trying to torture the type 1's.He's either a stupid idiot and really thinks diet etc. can cure type 1 or he's just evil and likes to antagonize.I believe he's both.He hates all that is proven and tested mainstream medicine. He's a real A-hole to boot. Just ignore. :-)

  • I've always liked Halle Berry...but now I think she is an idiot. Really??? You don't like to think of yourself as Type 1...and NOTHING HURTS WHEN YOU HAVE TYPE 1...are you F'n kidding? I was diagnosed later just like her, trust me, I felt it in the months before getting diagnosed and it hurt...a lot!

  • I hope all you idiots know, that, like stupidity, there is NO cure for type 1 diabetes.

  • It's funny how your life is built on fantasy and not fact, I grow tired with trying to reason with such an idiot. All the doctors and scientists in the world couldn't educate you on solid facts. It's such a shame that such a fat, ignorant person could believe the fallacies of which you speak of. My point will further be proven when you respond back to me with the same misspelled garbage. I'll continue to laugh because of this

  • how do you get through fuking life without knowing about diabetes? stupid peple are everywhere.

  • @datzfast your ignorance is hillarious, there is no cure for type 1 diabetes, you do realize the differences between type 1 and type 2 right. Maybe you could pry yourself out of your mom's basement and get educated, because obviously intelligence is something your lacking. Don't worry though, even a braindead can eventually learn. It's sad. your probaly sitting on your couch filling your face with mcdonalds, and bitching about how you can't lose weight. Oh, I wonder why that is?

  • @mhall47685 your stupididty is showing

  • there are some with type 2 who when they are first dx have to take insulin and then THEY can be taken off of it when they control it with diet and excerise. BUT any one with type 1 is always type 1 will always be type 1 there is no going from type 1 to type 2. Its sad she would even say this and for this to be posted. If there was a real way I did not have to stick myself all day long I would be happy to do whatever it took. Diet and excerise alone does not work for anyone who is type 1.

  • Fuck what a dumb tit. This kind of talk sends out a very bad message. I've been a type-1 diabetic since I was 3 and you can't stop taking your insulin or you can fucking die.

If shes not taking insulin and shes still alive she doesn't have type-1. You can't ween yourself off of it. Hard to believe that someone with so much money can be so clueless about a very serious condition. Can't she afford a qualified doctor? No brains, just a piece of ass. Read a goddamn medical pamphlet.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't care what Halle is saying, there is currently NO CURE for type 1 diabetics!!

She was and is a type 2 diabetic.

A type 2 diabetic need only change their life style with healthy foods and exercise and in most cases, the body will again produce insulin.

Type 1 diabetics cannot produce any insulin what so ever and are there for, insulin dependent., and die without it.

Type 1 and 2 diabetes are totally different "animals" and most people don't have a clue, including Halle!!!

  • @BellasLabPuppies

You are certainly correct that mental attitude has much to do with how people respond to disease. However, there are some medical issues that positive attitudes will not CURE. Good attitude always helps but won't always CURE disease. A patient can have a positive attitude about an amputated hand, but it won't grow back. In Type 1 diabetes, the source of attack is the body's own immune system. It obviously wouldn't be prudent to remove this source of attack.

  • Please do not let this video be the only information you get regarding Type 1 diabetes and Type 2 diabetes. Educate yourself regarding these two different diseases. In Type 1, the body's immune system attacks Beta cells in the pancreas. Because Beta cells produce insulin, the pancreas of a Type 1 diabetic no longer produces insulin. In Type 2 patients, the pancreas works just fine, but the body's cells become resistant to insulin. Type 2 is treated with medication, Type 1 with insulin.

  • @BellasLabPuppies Please educate yourself on what type one diabetes actually is before claiming to know how to "cure" it. You speak as though doctors are evil and want us to have diabetes so they make money. If there were a cure, there would be no more type one diabetes. Removing the source of attack--the very important white blood cells--would be completely hazardous, and even if this happened, your body doesn't make more beta cells once they have been destroyed. Just believing isn't enough.

  • @BellasLabPuppies I read some pretty stupid responses to this video but YOURS was the dumbest! You sound too stupid to live. You are an INSULT to all of those who must struggle with type 1 diabetes 24/7.

How dare you be so dumb and clueless as to imply there's some easy answer to a very complicated metabolic autoimmune disease. Or worse yet to imply they could some how "will it away"! You should hang your stupid head in shame for offending so many.

  • WTF she didn't PUT herself in the type 2 catagory, she was always there!!! Those words "Was a type 1 diabetic" REALLY pisses me off! Someone educate her before I scream! Or even just reword to "Thought I was a type 1 diabetic!"

  • Halle sounds too similar to my story I went into D.K.A and was told I had type 1 at the hospital and was up to four insulin shots a day my doctor noticed they may have made a mistake and had a c-peptide test done and told me I am probally type2 and to cut down to just 1 shot a day which is how I have been doing for the past 16 months. It ain't worth arguing with people with their low fat high carb, raw food, no carb meal plans i've heard it all before.

  • She is full of shit. She never had type 1 diabetes, She had a bad case of uncontrolled Type 2 diabetes. Just because you take insulin does not mean you are type 1.

  • Just wondering... How do you start with type 1 then wein YOURSELF to become type 2?

  • @BellasLabPuppies i love your thinking, but do you think people have the ability to cure themselves from diabetes?

  • the "very quick education" she had on diabetes obviously wasn't enough ... you can't switch between type 1 and type 2.. they're different diseases.

"I'd probably had it for most of my childhood but when you're diabetic, nothing hurts" .. I'm not even sure what she means here .. :S

  • @littlefatty8 Not a disease thankyou. And yeah this is bullsh*t. She did nothing.

  • @bl0gwar I don't mean to be picky, but technically it is a disease, since disease can "broadly refer to any condition that impairs normal function". I'm diabetic myself, didn't mean to cause any offence, so sorry if I did.

Though that's not really the point of my comment, the point is she's talking crap and giving false information.

  • @littlefatty8 I guess, but I'm totally agreeing with you.

  • @littlefatty8 she means that nothing was hurting so she didnt have any worries for her health because she didnt feel anything..for example if you kidneys hurt and you feel it you should go to the doctor because most likely something is wrong..ya know?

  • Yes, no way could she have had Juvenille Diabetes if she is now on no insulin. But, she has no signs of being a Type 2?! She has professional cooks, excercise trainers etc. anything she wants or needs which I know would help to a great dagree, unlike most of us that has to work damn hard every single day! She has to be mis-spoken?!?

  • @BellasLabPuppies You are just plain wrong about-"much of it does have to do with what you BELIEVE can happen...Many people BELIEVE this garbage but it doesn't make it true. Many people BELIEVE in Benny Hinn too, they are called SUCKERS! FACTS are FACTS!

  • Just because she's a celebrity doesn't mean she is knowledgeable about diabetes or anything else for that matter. Type 1's don't turn into type 2's ever! Possibly she mis-spoke or is confused about what she's been told. There is alway an explanation. She could have been misdiagnosed in the beginning. She may have been type 2 from day 1 but they assumed she was type 1 because she was young and not overweight. Either way she is misinformed and spreading bad information.

  • In what way is she spreading bad information?

  • What?! She's full of shit, you can't "cure" your type 1 into type 2...they're different things. In type 1 your beta cells die, not beta cells no insulin, no insulin no life...

  • There is no cure for Type 1 or i wouldn't have to stick needle in my stomach everyday of my life. You can't class your self as type two its a totally different disease, it is controlled with tablets, it is nothing to do with the pancreas not producing insulin (type 1) it is to do with obesity (mostly not all the time) or if someone in your family has it.

  • There is no Cure for type 1 Period...otherwise i wouldn't be running my ass of doing Marathons for a cure..get wised up & read about it

  • @EirynFeehily Does spouting hate make you feel better? What's it to you if someone believes they can cure themselves? If you don't believe it don't do anything different. Most of the medical profession agrees with you. No one is taking away your medicine! People can believe what they want...My friend cured herself of Chrons Disease with a doctor who uses diet as the main form of treatment. The first step is believing your life can get better AND taking responsibility for it YOURSELF

  • I remember hearing about this a while back but never heard her say this myself. Maybe her blood glucose level is way too high when she said this due to her brain not working right at the moment. Type 1's don't turn into type 2's period! Ask any doctor.

  • whaaat? Are you mental? It's people like you who make this difficult. Like people who say "you must have fed your child sugar". Type 1 diabetics do NOT get better. I suppose I could Atkin's her and low carb her to the point where we're balancing a fine line between exercise and health. No thanks. Do I think diabetic treatment is optimal - no. But please don't 'conspiracy theory' and trivialize a disease where I've been sticking needles in my (then) 2 year old daughter to keep her alive.

  • @evansad2000 diabetics CAN get better. What makes you so sure your right ? How much non pharmaceutical research have you done?

  • There is NO cure!

There is a push amongst "Type I" to rename it "Diabetes Mellitus" because of the misconceptions that they are the same or even similar. They want to rename it so that people will realize it is a completely different disease.

Type I - TRUE Diabetes Mellitus is due to Beta cells DYING.

Type II is due to insulin RESISTANCE.

Bad enough Type II MAY be insulin dependent since you don't produce enough. TRUE Type I diabetic (my daughter) does NOT produce insulin at all.

  • @evansad2000 that may be true according to your doctor who gets his information from the billion dollar insulin industry . No prizes for guessing why they continue to push that line. Don't bother responding to this with any pharmaceutical research claptrap, I've heared it all before. No misconceptions here.

  • @1moreon LOSER

  • @1moreon "that may be true according to your doctor who gets his information from the billion dollar insulin industry"

What a dumb ass you are Moron! Is that where you think all doctors get all their information?Really? Those 15 years of higher education is spent JUST talking to the pharmaceutical companies! What a joke you areYour perception of medical reality is so distorted by your hatred of the drug companies you've lost sight completely of what it means to practice medicine.Pathetic

  • Even slender people overeat. What if she were only eating 32 ounces of real food?

  • lol Mekelsior... i see you have made a new friend here on YouTube! I can't actually see what that dickweed "1moreon" has said to you but i see his name on your message to him! That only proves you are a shit stirrer, just as the weirdo ladyboy 1moreon is! All of us intelligent diabetics know diabetes has not cure! I just pray the both of you get diagnoses with it real soon, then we can all sit back & laugh at your dumb attempts to cure yourself, just as that idiot Hally Berry makes claim too!

  • ok 1moreon lets see ya reply to me with a load of threats this time round ya dumb fat wank! lol YOUR BLOCKED haha

  • If my research on the rising levels of obesity around the world are correct & are prove...i shall have stop the rising levels in Type 2 diabetes also! Its a well know fact that the begins of some of the greatest invention every made on planet earth were started by ordinary people with ordinary IQ's & education...exactly what i am! All i want is the Noble Peace Prize! lol (& a million £...not $ as the £ is worth much more haha)

  • @actrapide your IQ's not ordinary in fact it's well below ordinary. By the way blocking people and bragging about it just highlights what a shallow, spineless, gutless, piece of dumb ignorant shit you really are. Happy blocking fuckwit.

  • ATTENTION EVERYONE _ GET ON TO HALLY BERRIES WEBSITE & SEND HER A MESSAGE WHICH POINTS TO THIS VIDEO ASKING "ARE YOU A NUT JOB?" I GUARANTEE YOU HER LAWYERS WILL HAVE THIS PISH BS VIDEO TAKEN OFF YOUTUBE WITHIN A WEEK! & YOU GET GET ANY REPLIES FROM A FREAK NAMED "1MOREON" JUST BLOCK THE CUNT! HES A COMPLETE & UTTER GAYLORD TO WHICH I NOW PRAY ON A DAILY BASIS THAT HE GETS DIABETES AS HE TRULY DOES DESERVE IT BEING THAT HE SEEMS TO BELIEVE HE KNOWS HOW TO CURE IT! HAHA! HAVE A NICE DAY NOW!

  • @actrapide I did this and more. I sent a letter to her management, lawyer, and to the American JDS for whom she's a spokes person. They should know that the person representing them is spreading such false information. Nothing has happened so far. We should all keep trying. What she is doing here is WRONG.

    am

  • @sweetclaire06 Oh yeah there going to listen to a washed up never been fucked scragy dog ugly hag like you. Wake up idiot nobody is interested in your pharma puppeted clap trap. It doesn't surprise me that you bond so well with actrapid because he's as delusional and spineless as you. Your both major league gullible twits the world can do without. So crawl back into your hole and if you can't handle the heat get the fuck off youtube with your pretentious dribble.

  • I'm getting really angry reading comments that say we're "blindly following our doctors who are in the pocket of the drug companies" or that "any disease can be cured". I've had type 1 for 7 years now, I was diagnosed when I was 12 and I'm pretty sure my body won't just suddenly start rebuilding some islets of Langerhans, thank you very much. It doesn't have anything to do with diet. A low carb diet sounds to me like the way diabetes was treated before the invention of insulin in 1922. Great!

  • @elsiii Check out the McDougall diet, they are treating type 2 diabetes with high carb low fat, as fat is the main culprit in type 2 diabetis. I don`t know much about diabetes type 1 other than it is caused by dairy products and milk. Wish you all the best and God bless. =)

  • @Mekelsior - you say & i quote "they are treating type 2 diabetes with high carb low fat, as fat is the main culprit in type 2 diabetics" Firstly high Carbohydrate level put a diabetics glucose UP! when it goes up it causes a condition know as Ketoacidosis! This condition is what kills most uncontrolled diabetics & it can kill one in a matter of hours should their blodd glucose go up fast enough & high enough! Secondly Obesity is the main cause of type 2 diabetes! Obesity is at epidemic....

  • @actrapide Still doesn`t change the fact that diabetics type 2 are getting cured on a diet that is high in carbs and low in fat. Low in fat means around 10%.. some even told them to eat as much fruit as they cared for and they still got cured from their type 2 diabetis. The problem is when fat is taking the room of the sugars that insulin is sorting, high fat diet, most normal people are on a high fat diet in the west, hence their obesity, corrupts this process and leaves sugar unattended. =)

  • @Mekelsior Where did you get your medical degree? What you are saying is ridiculous! Propaganda b.s with NO basis in well understood human bio-physiology, patho-physiology or human bio-chemistry. Let me guess you got this off some "Natural, herbal, supplement, alt. med. web site".

  • @sweetclaire06 What are you talking about? Diabetes type 2 caused by an excess of fat, and if you eliminate fat from your diet your diabetes will reverse and be cured? Is that the part you argue against? Check out Dr Neil Bernard, Dr John McDougall, Dr Esselstyn, the China Study, then look at social studies, and you will find that if you have a low fat, low protein, high carb (from wholefoods) essentially a plant based diet, you minimise the chance of getting the disease. =)

  • @Mekelsior - epidemic levels in Africa, a continent known for starvation! Can you explain to me how the people in Africa are now live under an obesity epidemic in their land when they barely have anything to eat..never mind fat! I doubt you do but i believe i do! I truly believe i know that cause of the growing world wide levels of Obesity! My facts prove It has nothing to do with over eating! But this is way too technical for most reading this...Ive passed my findings on to DiabetesUK

  • @actrapide Because their diet is the SAD diet is my educated guess.. if they are not eating enough kcalories they will starve.. never heard of anyone gaining weight if they don`t get enough to eat, so I think you must be forgetting some information here. =) All I know is that John McDougall have great experience in removing diabetes type 2 on a low fat high carb diet. =) Hope your findings will be supportive and help out, we need all the help we can get. =)

  • @Mekelsior - - idiot, your 1moreon in disguise aint ya? You must be cause on that idiot could talk as much pish! High carbohydrate diets put glucose levels up, that makes your control UNCONTROLLED, that causes ketoacidosis - in many case & that kills a diabetic! Sure your not so dumb that you cant grasp that fact...its basic diabetes control? Anyway if you reply back to me il block you as i aint getting to this crap again with an idiot! Have a nice life

  • @Mekelsior - & as for the typical western diet being "SAD" - look at the USA, the people are generally taller & more muscular than anywhere else ONLY because their diets have been much better over the last 100 years! Obviously people do get fat by over eating but my research fully (not partly) suggests that GM food, which has only recently (2001) been allowed to be consumed nation Africa, is the cause of obesity, as they now have a growing obesity epidemic too! Same thing happened in USA/Europe

  • @Mekelsior mate don't bother trying to make any sense of that actrapide retard. He's a few sandwiches short of a picnic, if you know what i mean. Probably his brain is'nt getting enough oxygen due to high blood sugar levels.

  • @1moreon Thank you, I`m not offended by him and it is a good test of Character to meet a wide variety of persona.. I do appreciate your comment ;) There will always be people that are not interested in learning new things or that want to be humble, forgive and forget is my way of life and my heart is filled with joy. =) There is plenty of evidence out there to support my understanding so I`m not worried.. eager to learn new things though.. he he.. anyway bro.. take care and God bless. =)

  • @Mekelsior LOSER

  • @Mekelsior type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune disease which is incurable because the immune system wrongly attacks the pancreas's insulin producing beta cells. Even if a new pancreas is transplanted the immune system will again destroy it. Inject or die.

  • @chicacheeky Don't let that Moreon creep get to you. He's an idiot without a clue! He hates all doctors and thinks the pharms are out to kill us all. He instead believes in all sorts of b.s. quackery for treating disease. Don't bother with him.As for Halle obviously she is confused. And she's a spokes person for the JDF Go figure.I've written letters of complaint to them regarding this. Also to her management.Everyone should do the same,Misinformation is BAD! This video should go away

  • The 'International Textbook of Diabetes Mellitus', in an article titled 'Categories of Diabetes Mellitis and Other Categories of Glucose Intolerance', lists more than 44 types of diabetes/glucose intolerance yet most of those get lumped into T1, T1.5, and T2 labels. It's like trying to speak a language with only three words.

  • The April 17 issue of Journal of Medicine has an article coauthored by Dr. Daniel Winer. In it he describes feeding mice a high fat diet. Half were left as controls, the other half were given the immune system suppressant Rituximab. The mice in the control group all developed T2 diabetes. Those whose immune systems were suppressed all retained normal blood glucose values. In other words T2 may be autoimmune in nature as well, and things may not be as simple as people like to believe.

  • not possible!!!

  • pls search for dr mary vernon..and find how she cures many patients with just diet control..i.e very low carbs....i dont know why some people got so aggressive when it is told to them that many cases of diabetes can be controlled or cured by diet plans..it may be wrong,,it may be right but the hatred and anger showed by some people here by just raising the option is amazing..

  • She was just a misdiagnosed T-2 is all. The body doesn't regrow Islet cells and that is what T-1s are missing. I am just getting ready to get an Islet cell transplant and that is the only way for a T-1 to get off of Insulin but still not a cure.

  • Halle Berry is talking nonsense. You cannot switch from Type 1 to 2. It's impossible. Either she had Type 2 to begin with, or she has been told it's better for her career to say she has Type 2 and is not dependent on insulin. She could be such a great spokesperson for diabetics instead of spouting foolishness.

  • That is a load of crap...

  • what an idiot!

  • There are different types of Type 1. If she had the autoimmune type which primarily effects children, she would be insulin dependent for life. Her comments don't make sense. I do not know a lot about Type 1.5 ...perhaps that is what she is inflicted with.

  • I love the comment at :42 seconds when she says 'when you are diabetic nothing hurts'.!! LOL. I think she is getting confused between being diabetic, and when she plays superheroes in the movies... the comment makes much more sense if she says 'when you are a superhero, nothing hurts'...

  • @bryanvgr She's possibly making a reference to diabetic neuropathy which causes numbness and unawareness of injury.

  • Here is one other thought about Ms Berry! She might have never had diabetes at all! If she were on the rediculous atkins diet, she would eventually have keytones in her urine, which is one of the indicators of diabetes as well. That is far more likely what we have here!

  • WOW! This is the most irresponsible and stupid interview I have ever seen! She obviously has type 1.5, which is very misunderstood in north america. I only heard about it this summer when I met a type 1.5 person, who explained how she manages with ocassional insulin injections.

Type 1 can not be cured YET. But they can cure it in mice, after they give it to the mice, so there is hope.

It is theorized that many people in the US are misdiagnosed with type 1, and really have 1.5 or 2.

  • I'd say Hayley Berry was a badly controlled Type 2 to start with and never had Type 1 Diabetes. It's not such an easy things to cure! Wake up people stop being fools!

  • see there we go again . for some reason she realy wants to call her self a type one diabetic i dont get you type 2 diabetics !! if she had it most her life well then she has always been a type 2 any type 1 diabetic will only last a small amount of time before they die !

  • @DodgyCurry There is no need to puppet what the pharmaceutical industries take on what is type 1 and type 2 diabeties. We've heard it all before. Stop boring the living fuck out of us you ignorant prick. It was her Doctor who diagnosed type 1.

  • Yes, that's correct there ARE many non pharmaceutical theories (and as a T1 for 25 yrs I've researched tons of them) and yes, T1 triggers may be caused by toxins or viruses but you're skirting the issue in that true Type 1's will always require insulin. There are so many variances in the 3 Types (1, 1.5, 2). Anyone, esp. a adult who is diagnosed as T1 and can come off of insulin is NOT a true T1 but a 1.5. Monogenic is not a theory but a fact. Google it. No confusion here.

  • 1moreon: it's still irresponsible to suggest to a Type 1 that they have non-insulin alternatives to manage their diabetes - read my previous comment on monogenic diabetes aka Type 1.5 which is obviously Halle's case and many other mis-diagnosed Type 1 adults out there. You simply cannot suggest that CHILDREN who have Type 1 like my son got this disease from their own causes. That is wrong. Specific Type 1 is a AUTO-IMMUNE disorder that always requires insulin for treatment.

  • @saparsons66 call it what you like, the fact is many diagnosed type 1 diabetics are now insulin free as posted by many. I have never suggested that anyone caused it themselves. Obviously many factors exacerbate the situation if that is what caused you the confusion. There are numerous non pharmaceutical promoted theories regarding causes.

  • 1moreon: and what are you selling?????

  • @saparsons66 we're not all like the pharmaceutical companies and only in it for profit.

  • Oh, no. Oh, no. Type 1 Diabetes can never become Type 2. Type 1 is always insulin-dependent. It is severity of type 2 that a pt can wean off from using insulin with proper diet, exercise, prescribed meds (and, Calcidiol) Ms. Berry needs to be reeducated about what diabetes is all about.

  • Oh, no. Oh, no. Type 1 Diabetes can never become Type 2. Type 1 is always insulin-dependent. It is type 2 that a pt can wean off from with proper diet, exercise, prescribed meds (and, Calcidiol) Ms. Berry needs to be reeducated about what diabetes is all about.

  • I have been diabetic ( type 1) for almost a year now and I am shocked at this. I have read so much information on the illness and can safely say she is talking absolute crap! Type 1 Diabetes can only be treated with insulin, I wish it wasnt true but it is. I eat healthily and excersise and my insulin dose is very tiny atm as Im still on the honeymoon period. I'm assuming Halle does realise the damage she is doing by talking about this on tv. She is giving out a dangerous approach to management

  • @IIIEm Don't you get it. The information you've read was kindly given to you for free by research / pharmaceutical companies that make billions world wide by keeping people sick and making sure any alternative to them is routinely mocked and shamed as greedy quacks trying to make money preying on the sick. Isn't it ironic.
