  • Wow I couldn't even finish watching, all I could think was how badly I wanted to mute her voice lmao

  • Try doing every piece of schools' compulsory literature. Don't forget the Russian literature, cuz Russians, like, obviously suffer the most.

  • Reminded me of Jo Beth Casey from Timespiltters... :P

  • Boring. Trite. Total disrespect for HPL work. And not even funny.

  • Pause at 1:08. and laugh. If you understand it, which most probably will

  • Sooooo, I was trying to explain the mythos to my brother in a brief and tolerable kind of way and stumbled upon this. I hate you by virtue of actually being able to pull this off. May Cthulhu spare you. Although I know it won't.

  • Isn't this an H.P. Lovecraft book?

  • @CavScoutZombie Well not a book. But he did make a short story about it.

  • @GamingPhone Gotcha. Thanks

  • Cthulh story!

  • wow, I never thought I would see the perfict combo of lovecraft and valley girl.

  • @cav3mo2 sense... what? what´s your point?

  • @cav3mo2 you got an easy way out there, but you wont win the war! lol -_- a plain plane. a plane-shaped-ninja-star.

    Anyway, its annoying.

  • ...*Sigh* I feel as though this video just tried to shit on my intelligence at how they talked.

    No thank You

  • why do these people make the script sound like we are too retarded to understand big words or something

  • Its a good concept, but the script needs to improve, and the voice needs to sound sexier or funnier. Currently sounds annoying, and kind of plane: you also need to improve voice acting.

  • This way of talking is common around here, so I'm not sure if it's fake...

  • Beats the Deadmou5 video I just suffered through.

  • Will you stop forcing that, like, valley girl, like, speech pattern and junk?

  • Like,Like or something, or like, yea, so is like something, so yea like

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty much.

  • i thought this entire series i under two minutes would be interesting until i heard the narrative

  • it's always ends with "it's still out there" with lovecraft...

  • LAWL!!! I love the "BP's Mess, your problem!" on the globe. Nice :P

  • HoN has brought me here.

  • awesome work H.P. L. would be pleased....

  • Chtulhu in a tuxedo...........made my day

  • Middle earth is New Zeland Lols

  • The BP mess made me lol.

  • Lovecraft fo

  • Like, totally!

  • So, is this supposed to be funny or something? It's more annoying than anything.

  • I have nothing to fear. I will embrace my death of madness at the hands of all-mighty Cthulhu.

  • ... Now I'm just going to imagine Cthulu talking with a Valley Girl accent. Oh god, why? o_o

  • @JoeyAndHisGiraffe B/c Cthulhu knew that would induce the most madness. Turns out R'lyeh is actually a lost suburb of San Fernando...;)

  • hey it says under 2 minutes its 2 minutes long u owe me a 1 milla seconfd

  • @MegaDudesup Nope the credits don't count, the story is done in just slightly over a minute and a half.

  • But dont you know enough too?

    Unless......you're a cultist!

  • So Is it possible to awaking Cthulhu if he is real.

  • @XSlipknot666MAGGOT The stars have to be right.

    Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

  • Love it, thanks for posting.

  • You missed the part when the sailors, like, totally crashed their boat into Cthulhu's head, which must have really messed up their paint job.

  • I love the little less important newspaper articles... :D especially "Creepy Creepy!" ^^ most awesome headline ever. but theres one little mistake: when Cthulhu eats the earth, so the necronomicon foretells, he will say "om nom nom nom - their souls make my tummy happy :3"

  • Her voice just goes so well with Cthulhu.

  • "Middle Earth" XD

  • you say "like" too much, no offense.

  • @infernomoo Like, I dunno why you're dissing on like, all the likes. I for one like the valley girl summary, and like, bothered to read the description. If you like, understood the joke, you'd like it more.

  • @SneakyGeek i do like it, it just reminds me on how people think that people from cali say "bro" a lot.

  • 2 minutes? CoC can be summed up in three words: "Sanity Check Failed."

I think Lovecraft was the inventor of grimdark. I can't think of any other author where you pick up their work and the first thought you have is "Let's see how totally boned the main character is this time."

  • @KSB26 mhmm.

  • most annoying voice ever.

  • lol like omg!!! XD

  • That was sweeeeet

  • BP's Mess, your Problem? Amazing. :D

  • Well that was annoying :P

  • this isn't under 2:00, i feel used :(

  • You kinda sound like rinry game game. . .

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn

  • AH! I couldn't watch after the talking started.... This is so fucking annoying...

  • This whole video is like totally like OMG!

  • Fuck yeah Middle Earth!

  • "Gross me out incident" How dare you woman! All hail Cthulhu!

  • Thumbs up if this video annoyed you... :P

  • "Sound by Ross Merrick" Ross, u greedy bastard, the ENTIRE video had NO sound! it was only the narrator! u cant take credit for something u didnt do!.... unless this is an inside joke and i just made a fool of myself . . .

  • Call of cthulu (Y) & Dungeons and Dragons..

  • 49 cultists are going to get sacrificed to Hastur!!!!

  • the story is not like that i heve the game and the book you left out a lot of the story but i wasint all that bad you get a 2 out of 5

  • @hl2man312 a lot of the story was left out... because it was only two minutes long... thats wat they do... they summarize and mention the important part.... u fucking idiot

  • 0.48: Bp's mess.....YOUR PROBLEM

  • U forgot about coon and friends

  • lol

  • I want to mate with the narrator.

  • @TiniNormi I second that notion.

  • (;,,;)

  • n00000000000b

    you said UNDER 2 minutes

    its 2 F***ING MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheAwesomeFace8D The story is done in 1:37...The rest is credits.

  • @jayhayes2007 hence in under 2 minutes.

  • @EthosRazor It was a reply to someone who said it was over 2 minutes...

  • DO MORE LOVECRAFT

  • -deep breath...- wuuuuuuttttt?

  • 43 dislikes? Oh, please.

    Burrrn!

  • Epic!

  • Doesn't Cthulhu in a tux at :48 look a lot like Dick Cheney last year at the Heritage Foundation dinner? Grrrrr!

  • artists, poets, and other, like, mentally disturbed people!

  • lol @ Middle Earth

  • o.o That was the most epic explanation ever. I love this story, but this jsut makes it really funny when I listen. XD

  • bp mess lol

  • This would be under one minute if you cut the totallies and likes.

  • @TheDSil What would be the fun of that?? They're kind of the point.

  • also hysterical!

    please do more!

  • lol middle earth

  • I actually just finished the story a few minutes ago... hahaha

  • Link at cthulhu.com ... thanks!

  • I linked this at cthulhu.com. Hope you don't mind.

  • In theory this video is awesome, except that you do yourself and Lovecraft a great dis service by having this narrated but a total bimbo. serious.

  • IAH! IAH! CTHULHU FHTAGN!!!! PH'NGLUI MGLW'NAFH CTHULHU R'LYEH WGAH'NAGL FHTAGN!!!!

  • I LOVE IT!!!

  • I love this.

  • Funny video! I liked the animation, and the humorous newspaper clippings.

  • Died under mysterious circumstances = "jostled by a nautical-looking negro" (funniest line ever, offensiveness aside).

  • Well, this beats actually reading the book.

  • iiiaaa glaag ftagn!!

  • Azathoth will feed on you all infidels!

He will begin with the entire area of Southern California! Where the Valley Girls live! YES!

All shall perish, or some junk...

  • @Alshtabrann Wouldn't Valley Girls give the Great Old Ones indigestion?

  • How did he get the secret document at 1:16?

  • @Uncandescent From the wife of the dead sailor in Oslo which was written in English which she did not speak

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy Thank you.

  • I was pretty "meh" until "SHUT UP!" and "Grrrrr!". I will admit it that I busted out laughing at those. Thumbs up!

  • LOL! Great! How about you give Lord of the rings or Dracula the same treatment.

  • @TheGnolla The Hobbit maybe, but not LOTR [already done to death]

Dracula is on the short list - thanks for the input

  • like now I have to share this with all my facebook friends so they'll know too much too, Burn!! lol

  • I think she mispronounced Cthulhu.

  • @suskistube Even Lovecraft gave several differing pronunciations. See Wikipedia for the memo.

  • @suskistube It is supposed to be so alien a name that there is no true way to pronounce it "correctly" within the boundries of human speech. So by default, ALL pronunciations are correct.

  • @MARSHOMEWORLD or incorrect, depending on your point of view

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy The "correct" thing to do, my dear fellow filmmakers, is to accept the video response I sent. Nudge,nudge...wink,wink. Cheers!

  • @MARSHOMEWORLD i think you need at least 7 tongues to pronounce it correctly :)

  • love the ending... now you know too much too!

  • Brilliant!

  • @EVILgnarlygnome the call of cthulhu isn't a book...

    ...you idiot.

  • @HollowFlight Even the short story takes longer than 2 minutes. The purpose of the animated short is right there in the title: Call of Cthulhu in Under 2 Minutes. No one's saying not to read the story. In fact, lots of people saw the video and now want to read the story - and getting people to read is a *good* thing.

  • @HollowFlight @HollowFlight you're the idiot who is too attached to the tv. The game was based off of the book. And before that, i believe that interpreted from a old myth. but I could be wrong about that.... you idiot.

  • @bobroxshard oh but you are wrong about that! very wrong indeed!

the call of cthulhu is a short story written by h.p. lovecraft. i don't care about a book or video game that were made based on the story. 'the call of cthulhu' is lovecraft, it's not a book and it's certainly not a video game.

gotham. arkham. the necronomicon. cthulhu. all of that is lore taken from h.p. lovecraft, now if you _actually_ read books you'd know this!

  • @HollowFlight hey i never said i was well read. i just did some basic research and found out that it is in fact a video game. also after i posted i did find out that it was in fact a short story.

  • Milton's Paradise Lost would be good. I've never been able to get past the second book, but it makes me feel guilty - it being a great work of literature and all, i feel like i should read it with reverence and awe, but i just can't get into it.

This was great, by the way. And the Dante's Inferno one was really good too!!

  • @incandescentsmile Good suggestion - adding it to the short list - thanks for the kindies

  • i would rather play the game to understand than this video because all i heard and saw to understand it is cthuhlu

  • Feel free to post suggestions on what you might like to see us tackle next

  • eh. Worth watching, but ZERO sum addition to the mythos

  • @Pertusetian It's a SUMMARY. Summaries don't tend to "add to the mythos".

  • Doesn't sound very 'valley' somehow. Mildly humorous.

  • hehehe... anyone else see the Fourecks thing?

  • This confused me more than explained.

  • Half life in half a minute ?

  • 10 inch high samurai?

  • ROFLMAO at BP's Oil spill and Middle Earth XD

  • Really well done, the reader's voice makes me miss San Fernando Valley though...

  • Oh NO! It's Dr. Zoidberg!

  • I love how on the map Australia is labelled with XXXX

    ... so true

  • @thatguyinpants It's a Discworld reference. A tremendously cool Discworld reference.

  • @ageinGamer love the Discworld, big Pratchett fan, thanks for watching

  • why was this video made. what is it's purpose. why would anyone what a synopsis of the story when they could just read it.

    i dont understand

  • @HollowFlight Because sadly there are people who read H.P. and still don't understand it and somehow this.....for lack of a better politically correct term: summary gets it through their heads.

  • @fegu Well, that's like, just your opinion, man. (quoted from The Great Lebowsky)

Also, Completely Missing The Point - It's SUPPOSED to be like that. How would YOU make a parody of a literary work as narrated by a ditzy valley girl?

Read the original Call of Cthulhu story, then you'll (probably) get it.

  • Mexico is a THEM, not an US. Get it straight!!

  • @myrdale We're US, the Canadians are Them and Mexico never got a look in

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy It was more a joke than anything else. The original thought was La Raza annexing the US. Great video.

  • @myrdale Thanks for the kindies, any ideas on what we should do next?

The Hobbit, Moby Dick, Dracula, The Iliad, The Wasp Factory, 2001: A Space Odyssey?

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy 2001! for sure! fantastic movie and now im reading the novelization. It's still awesome.

  • Is it wrong of me to have clicked this thinking you were going to take the 8 min Metallica song and compress it to 2 in some wierd way?

  • @NeccoWecco Wrong but not bad

  • well done!

love the commentary, like , omg.

so how about Dune in 2 minutes?

  • Thanks for feedback

We're taking suggestions for your favorite literary works that need the 2 minute treatment.

    2001 : A Space Odyssey anyone?

    Love

    B Grim

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy

Lord of the Flies, Don Quixote, The Wasp Factory, Heart of Darkness

  • @Cssfiend The Wasp Factory would be fantastic, I'm personally a big Banks fan, I was thinking of perhaps one of the Culture novels, which are about my favorite

Reading 'Look to Windward' now [again].

  • @Cssfiend The Wasp Factory would be great, I'm a big Banks fan although I was thinking of one of the Culture novels.

  • Superb animation, visual graphic jokes requiring complete attention, cute narration. Nice attention to detail. Nothing to quibble about here. Keep selecting great cult classics for treatment! "To Kill a Mockingbird" would grab a lot of eyes and command a whole lot of public attention - or are you only selecting works out of copyright? Looks like fair use as parody/satire to me.

  • @MarquetteJohn I think that the fair use clause applies, most interested in stories and books that people know [cultural stepping stones] but that would classify as 'cult' books, so ones that are owned but unread.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @brothersgrimandgrimy Appreciate the position. No shortage of cultural (il)literacy titles - I'm a librarian and I know what's *supposed* to circulate and doesn't.

  • This is totally fantastic.

  • That was like awesome

  • really good job.

  • That was brilliantly told.

  • This is awesome!

    Your great!

  • I like this even more than the first one, Dante's Inferno in Under 2 Minutes! Adorkable!

  • Adorable and creepy! Happy Friday the 13th!
