Milton's Paradise Lost would be good. I've never been able to get past the second book, but it makes me feel guilty - it being a great work of literature and all, i feel like i should read it with reverence and awe, but i just can't get into it.

"To Kill a Mockingbird" would grab a lot of eyes and command a whole lot of public attention - or are you only selecting works out of copyright? Looks like fair use as parody/satire to me.
