Do not want to dispel your illusions, but it does not crash, but the developers pre-planned (by RARE) a secret, since it is impossible that it fails for these reasons:
1. Everything goes smoothly too.
2. There would be no victory in the level after killing the rat.
3. If you would fail, the game would simply be hung from a fault in the game code.
4. RARE would probably would have done so that the rat does not fall SPECIFICALLY so that it can be hit.
@NinjaWebmaster You're probably right. I think it has been specifically designed with the idea that it never will be possible to do for the normal person, so this argument completely resolve the dispute.
ratrace isnt that hard.. I can never get passed that last level with the tower.. this cloud comes up and blows gas everywhere and you just die... no way around it..
@Neverdweller Ahem. You attack it with a pipe. Unless of course your talking about the very last one. You have to ingore it since it's invincable. You have to outrun it. (the last one is the white one that doesn't blow poison)
@mistertitanic Im talking about the big ones that come up the side and blow you around... I dont remember there being anything t hang onto and when it blows that stuff you just grab your throat and die.
@MrKupnu4 It's not glitch,... man! Because the rat is the same object like died any one of bosses, but is only one different between rat and died boss. Rat is inactive died boss (all of any game bosses if die, the boss will change to died boss object). Running Rat is a died boss object! But only is inactive to the time when you kill this boss. Rat is a boss because is the same object like died boss but have "HP"!! (If Rat Running is indestructible, but if have falling flag, have only 15 hp).

How do you explain that the toad has the ideal conditions while hitting the rat? and how do you explain the fact that bosses turn into falling rats with died/defeat flag? coincidence? I guess that programmers have created specially this "Warp Guide" (as called by the movie), I would call it rather "Special Ending". These things are interconnected!
ARgh....I got the warp to work and sadly it's not like the other warps that lets you skip a level. It just let's you skip the other 2/3's of Rat Race, which is still pretty nice.
As long as I can skip that horrible third race. It says something when Battlemaniacs toned down Rat Race, when it didn't nerf Turbo Tunnel and actually toned up Karnath's place.

ARgh....I got the warp to work and sadly it's not like the other warps that lets you skip a level. It just let's you skip the other 2/3's of Rat Race, which is still pretty nice.

Well, if you use this warp trick, you WON'T skip the Clinger Winger stage. You will only skip next two races and a boss fight.
