  • that things badass

  • By the way, that gameboy fuckin rules!!!!!

  • I am debating on if this is an actual full bent gameboy or a circuit cased in a gameboy's housing, but I do not believe I will ever know unless I see a schematic and try for myself but regardless this thing is freaking amazing. Keep up the good work!

  • 139 butthurt collectors watched this

  • good stuff ;-)

  • Here's what I don't get - you could invest in a used synth which already produce the same noises that would come out of every circuit bent toy...except they're all on one machine and it will never randomly short out or cause fires. I mean if one is that desperate to hear a myriad of weird frequencies that he/she starts messing around with the circuitry in random shit...then just save up for a goddamn Korg- that's what they're made for. You'll never have to "circuit bend" anything ever again

  • @Xozona I just wanted to say how much I already dislike you. I dont even know you, yet I find you infinitely annoying. I swear, someone needs to make an online place for all these whiners to get together and puss about everything so I dont have to hear their stupidity anymore when Im trying to have a goodtime on youtube. (Damn I sound like a dork!)

  • @Xozona A lot of the fun in it is the experimentation. Taking things apart, discovering what kinds of sounds they can make, and having fun with that.

Dont get me wrong- I enjoy synthesizers as much as the next person, but it's a completely different thing.

  • why'd you make this?

  • 0:32 Gameboy: Gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble-gobble...

Me: Hah, this'll be great for Thanksgiving if I watched this BEFORE Thanksgiving...

  • i circut bended the GBC game toy story 2 because it sucks so bad. it just does glitches now! A portable corrupt program! :D

  • this video is even retro by using so few pixels....-_-

  • Well, ready to do everything for the love of music !!!

    Never mind

  • What is the point of circuit bending? Just to make that weird noise??

  • Oh..Never mind. Cool bend though.

  • I just watched an interesting circuit bend...then I read some comments...WTF Fuck happend here?

  • lol

  • why did u hate making that?

  • @trevorgonyea just search "how to circuit bend"....i remember watching a video explaining it, and it was surprisingly a simple process, you just disconnect a circuit then get the wire and tap it on different nodes until you get a response from it, once you do just solder it onto the new node....sometimes certain parts of the circuit can't be linked together, in that case just solder it back and disconnect a different wire....look up the tutorial though, i don't want you to get electrocuted!

  • damn a good system wasted...

  • Just tried messin' with mine. RIP, i guess XD

  • Goin' to the thrift store, then radioshack tomorrow. I forsee fun times

  • about as useful as a flanger guitar pedal

  • gay lol

  • do you hear that?

thats the sound of the gameboy crying and screaming to death!

  • sounds like Doctor P LMAO

  • Sounds like a goddamn bomb at the start

  • dude! sweet! you put a knob on a gameboy! yay! NOT

  • circuit bending sure creates a lot of lulz

  • what game are you playing while you're messing your game boy?

  • sounds like Tiesto

  • nice man, haters gonna hate. i could eat these sounds for breakfast, lunch and dinner

  • sell me this.

  • you sont have to take the screen out like that. just remove the little shitty speaker and put it there, then pro-sound it and back light it and you got a fuckin masterpiece

  • It sounds like it wants to die.

  • Ugh this makes me cringe.

  • I found out your secrets Mr. Venetian Snares... you bastard!!!

  • holy fuck this is rad. i have to figure out how to do this.

  • between 0:19 and 0:28 it sounds like a metroid

  • sounds so much like a house/electro riff at 0:37

  • now i see how hardstyle music is made=)

  • poor gameboy

  • So does the output change depending on the cartridge you have in it?

  • OMG I WANT THAT GAMEBOY SOOOO BAD!!! I LOVE YOU!!

  • @BowToMySkill Please remove yourself from the genepool.

  • @BowToMySkill I know! He is happy and happy people *do* circuit bend

  • to bad it is a short video.

  • Fact: Edward Cullen is one of the most influential and memorable vampires in our lifetime.

  • Unless you were molested as a child and when your father thought you were going to spill the beans to your mother he would buy you a new video game to keep you quiet.

    4. I hate you all.

  • @sinkingmyself I like you, man!

  • @sinkingmyself umad, bro?

  • 2. To everyone who starts fights with each other through comments on this video, SERIOUSLY? What the hell is wrong with you people? At one point you were fighting over race and american culture. What the hell did that have to do with a stupid gameboy I screwed up?

    3. Not that I want a response, but how would altering a gameboy make me gay? Those comments confuse me more then any other. How do you relate video games with being gay?

  • @sinkingmyself lololo he made something different that means he has sex with men yea

  • @sinkingmyself Fuck all the haters bro, this is brilliant

  • @sinkingmyself This comment is my personal favorite.

  • Over 250,000 views... That is so very funny to me. To answer everyones questions would take forever so I'll try to sum everything up in one.

    1. No, I can't tell you how to make this gameboy. I did it on accident and have no clue how to do it again. I'm a terrible circuit bender.

  • @sinkingmyself i accidentally circuitbent a toy phone.

  • @sinkingmyself Don't know what the flashing LED is doing, but it looks like you've put a potentiometer in series with the clock crystal, causing the CPU to slow down massively as you lower the dial. I've done a similar mod to one of my Game Boys.

  • i can circuit bend my phone... without fucking massacreing it and making it whail to be put out of its misery

  • Breakcore!

  • Now that's what I call a good Hardcore electronica remix!

  • What did u do

  • pretty sweet. I wish I could find my game boy... Is similar stuff possible with a modern folding type game boy?

  • I saw this.... And I thought I was going to cry. & Yell uncontrollably. Oh wait, I did. >.<

  • What game are you using?

  • Why do I have some feeling that it's going to explode

  • Mario on steroids

  • great.......

  • LSDJ pwns this and takes less time to do/learn

The gameboy camera dj game pwns this too

  • STOP UR KILLING IT

  • hahahaha WTF

  • justin beibers new album

  • @rikoxasora Nah, I'd rather listen to this.

  • @rikoxasora No, this is better

  • LMAO This is what happens when you torture a Transformer!!

  • This is the most pointless drivel I have ever come across. It doesn't even have any meaningful function, just makes a real shitty sound.

  • @TheLedreppe THE NO FUN ZONE. seriously though, it's just a hobby, no more useful than a toy rocket.

  • @TheLedreppe "It has no meaningful function" You know if the right people got their hands on it, you could make a lot of music with stuff like that. Are you still going to tell me it serves no function?

  • Lol..... Sounds funny....

  • I just bought a gameboy for like $12

  • @NiekProductions lol what a waste :D hahaa

  • Way to ruin a gameboy fuckstick.

  • Hard to believe theres the Legend of Zelda theme and the Pokemon theme somewhere in there.

  • sick sounds tho!

  • That's the same knob from my guitar amp lmao

  • i think this could be used at a hardstyle song :) ...does anyone agree ? :)

  • @kosec321 Basically anything is fine for hardstyle, as long as it's loud enough and sidechained with a punchy kick. :p

  • OMG it sounds like its gonna blow up XD

  • How do you learned to do this stuff?

  • congrats, you just fucked up a piece of history

  • @pollin lol

  • @pollin Those don't cost that much, I was told.

  • what the hell?

  • Disregard my last comment- I think my account was bugged... 8[ ]

    DANGIT!

  • i don't really see what the point of all of this unless you record samples that you can use later....while i really like the idea of curcuit bending, there seems to be a point where you aren't really doing much of anything musically...it's more of just generating a bunch of confusion laced noise...and i'm a total techno head

  • @goodtimecharlie3 Its just fun... why does everything have to have some real purpose?

  • @supierority73 i dunno, i guess we're just programmed to think in those terms.....then again, if it gives enjoyment, then it does have a purpose....john lennon said it best, i think..."time wasted wasn't a waste if it was enjoyed." kind of a profound thought

  • i heard bt talking about this stuff so, i thought i'd watch stuff about it....i enjoyed this vid although, there seems to be a fine line between this being kinda cool and then again being a little cooky....

  • MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY... lol

But on more serious terms, this sounds like a mod to the DMG's CPU clock.

  • its essentially generative music, an experiment, a release from the chokehold of what we are made to work with in todays media, music and art forms....technology made by companies is always limiting for what artist what to make, which is why people are now finding free forms to express themselves musically

search youtube for videos of reactables. its interactive and generative....constantly evolving.

  • @joe9090joe Faggot

  • @number1barber Man, who's the one with mental health issues? The guy who messes around with his gameboy for fun, or the guy who goes on youtube to tell people they don't know that their creation is a load of bullshit and they have mental health issues?

  • @pencildives ? er him obviously. i didnt take time making something that does nothing useful whatsoever.

  • @number1barber The word 'useful' is whatever you make it. I know of many people whom this would be useful to.

  • what's the point of this? i'm only asking because i saw circuit binding for the first time today and i'm just curious as to why somebody would want to do this?

  • It's neat.

  • @yourmomma8888 circuit bending is basically the discovery and exploration of hardware.. um.. I don't know the word. I'm being retarded right now. But anyway, they do it because it's fun. I hate to see rare stuff get wrecked, but sometimes good things come out of it. like.. if you know enough about the hardware you're working on, you could potentially make a fully functional synthesizer out of a child's electric keyboard.

Totally useless, but it's a neat hobby.

  • ok thank you

  • It's not totally useless, some bands/artists use circuit bent hardware to create music, noises, sound scapes etc. I would love to get my hands on a circuit bent casio keyboard to use live with my band.

  • cuz it's fuckin' awesome-sounding

  • @yourmomma8888 its for making music alot of the time.... most of the time. its so awesome.

  • good hacking hardware !!!

  • how did you make this and why did you hate doing it

  • i think the giger counter just exploded at 0:01 the the whole world exploded

  • Yawn.

  • gameboy turned beatbox boy

  • rad... why did you hate making it? did you put up schematics or directions anywhere? what is actually happening, the cycle speed is being adjusted?

  • That;s some pretty fff ed up shit,

I did not know tetris was so cool

  • why did i give my gameboy away???

  • cooolll....i want one...

  • lol

  • You should make the buttons do things...

  • what happened to the screen?

  • I think it's a circuit board, the screen is gone, man. Sad ;( To be that gameboy

  • how do u circut bend something

  • It seems pretty obvious that it isn't actually the game boy that's bent.

  • wow, cool

  • Comment removed

  • the fuk is the point of that~

  • How sad! :( I weep for the undead gameboy.

  • oh man i would love to do this but its a classic dont mess with them or theyll come back and bite ur ass

  • I wouldn't have thought of circuit bending a game boy. Good stuff.

  • You have inspired me to circuit bend the wiring in my house!

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!

  • @CLeRKSfan4life thanks! working 100%

  • Thats awesome!

  • Man, why'd you have to take the screen out?

And what game was in there?

  • Gah, he didn't ruin it, it's called Circuit Bending!

    Awesome bend. 5 Stars.

  • if you'd put a nice beat ubder that you'll have made yourself a number one jam!

  • what does it do besides scream in pain?

  • @mysticsack it glows red with agony

  • @mysticsack It also wails in pain, shreiks in pain, screeches in pain, yells in pain, howls in pain, shouts in pain, bellows in pain, crys out in pain, hallors in pain, yelps in pain and all you basic synonyms.....oh, it also waxes your car and tastes great on ice cream...

  • @mysticsack well duh! it explodes check out paul the claws comment

  • @mysticsack

    LMFAO.. Ahahahaa....

  • You KILEED GB! Bastard!

  • good... i need to start with circuit bending... cant wait to appear on stage and start making amazing noises out of a furby or a tamagochi...

  • good goal. im thinking about bending a compurobot...

  • at a point the sounds remind me of a tranformer tranforming from the movie or cartoon :D

  • comment removed by author

  • ? what the

  • fuck yeah i love excitebike

  • comment removed by author

  • i lol'd at the vid info

  • Is it comparable to a c64 in sound capabilities?

  • thats amazing. i have a slightly busted gameboy i thought about messing around with.

never messed with circuit bending tho. is the knob needed to make the sounds or are there other ways of getting sounds from it?

  • what is it? just a noise maker?

  • thats AWESOME!!! i want one

  • wtf i thought my ears are gonna fall off.

  • W...why would you do that...?

    ;_;

Really, this is nothing you can't get out of LSDJ or Paragon5 instead, and you don't have to chop up perfectly working hardware for it with those either.
