i have a 5 year old girl and a 2 year old son. I find it easier to attach with my boy. He is more tender with me like watching out for me or something :) A real sweet. My girl is wonderful, but girls are more whiny and complain more. And she does get on my nerves a lot more. He is more independent.
For you yourself produced my kidneysYou kept me screened off in the belly of my motherI shall laud you because in a fear-inspiring way I am wonderfully made.Your works are wonderful,As my soul is very well awareMy bones were not hidden from you
When I was made in secretWhen I was woven in the lowest parts of the earthYour eyes saw even the embryo of meAnd in your book all its parts were down in writingAs regards the days when they were formedAnd there was not yet one among themPsalms139:13-16
I don't know if I can provide tips for the boy/girl thing but i am the oldest of 5 girls and when i had a boy i was like WTF, it's a boy, what do i do???? what do i do if he has a erection? do i just squish it down and put his nappy on or do i need to wait? lol. and so on
I've had horrible hip/glut pain at night for months now, carrying twins. I finally saw a prenatal chiropractor + a PT/massage therapist. They gave me a tip that has definitely helped when everything else has failed.
I had been sleeping with pillows between my knees, with both legs bent. The doc said to keep the leg on the side I'm lying on straight and lean forward so I'm less on the hip joint and then put the top leg, bent, on top of two thick pillows, in front of me, not on the lower leg.
Wow, that's great! I saw my chiropractor not too long ago and it didn't really help my hips at all, but I'm far enough along that he didn't want to do any major adjustments in my hips since the baby's head is so far down. Maybe that's why it didn't work as well as for you. Great suggestion though!
This is the first i've heard about the hip pain when you are sleeping - I get the same thing!! I get up and go to the restroom and when i get back to the bed i can tell which side i was laying on because that same side hip and shoulder will hurt like crazy!!
I'm totally with you about the whole mom thing and her not being there. There's alot of things i thought i was ok with - but i have been realizing i am not.. one of those is not having her there : )
Wow, amazing how much we pregnant girls can parallel one another! I talked about a way to help with the hip pain in the video I put up today, namely satin sheets, if you want to watch it. And I'm still working on the mom issues but she's really been wonderful giving me lots of time on the phone. And if she can't be here that's definitely the next best thing. Thank you for commenting!
cont. It can kick start labour if your body is already ready to go. It isn't really a induction method, but it does mess around with your body. One problem with it is the lack of sleep. You usually get 2-4 hours of cramps and the runs which keep you up, so if labour does start from the castor oil you are already tired.
In my opinion it is better than in hospital induction with pitocin, but time is the best 'cure' ;)
I'm a birth doula and have had clients choose this method with little success
Hmm, I hadn't thought of the sleep problem and my midwife's biggest advice when I start to have contractions is to time them at first but then get as much sleep as I can to save up my strength. It's wonderful to hear from a doula with experience! My sister said it did help with two of her labors which ended up being 2 and 4 hrs long respectively, but my midwife doesn't recommend it so I'm going to stay away. I'll let my baby decide when he wants to be born, I'm in no hurry. :)
-Dilatation checking has never been shown to be a benefit to mother! And, it means nothing, you can be 2cm for months!
-I'm not a mother, but have been a nanny for years to mainly boys. I worried about bonding with girls and had no idea how to interact with them...but once you are with them you bond with their personalities not the gender!
-Castor oil is a bean oil, and can cause wicked intestinal contractions which can encourage uterine contractions by passing through your gut quickly.
Hi! I have an 8 week old little boy, i didn't know what I was having and I had ur same thought bout boys. My sister was born when I was 12 so the thought of having a boy was nearly a little scary . But when he was born I just fell in love with him straight away and everything has just fallen into place. I bonded with him right away. They tend to be more mummies boys but a lot of mums don't mind that.
i'm so excited for you, only 2 weeks left. Ur going to be a great mum just follow ur instincts.
Wow, thank you! That's so wonderful to hear. I think he's going to be a gorgeous, sweet little boy and I can't wait to meet him. And I don't mind a mommy's boy at all! I love to cuddle and will treasure all the time I can get with him before he gets old enough that he doesn't want to anymore. :)
The castor oil is the most grossesd thing i have ever tryed...i took it 3 times trying to induse labor and it didnt do anything for me at all..now i cant even look at any oils..yuck! try drinking rassbarry tea that indused my labor..Good luck!
YES HIP Pain! I am only 24 weeks and I already have hip pain. It's hard to move around at night, I guess it only gets worse! I have been meaning to do a pregnancy v log but haven't yet. You look great! I've been watching your videos from the beginning..
Yes, it does get worse, sorry. :) I'd love to see your videos so if you do post, let me know. I just talked more about how to deal with the hip pain at night on my latest vid. Satin sheets are amazing!
My mom used it to try to induce labour form me and all she got was a very bad case of the runs, and no labour. Then there is that the residue left over after pressing castor seeds contains about 5% ricin, an astonishingly toxic poison.
Wow, I definitely didn't know about the toxin. I suppose there are a lot of things that do that though, like olives which are poisonous off the tree and have to be put through a process so they can be eaten. I won't be using castor oil unless specifically recommended by my midwife, everything everyone has said sounds kind of awful!
Our birthing class instructor said it causing abdominal cramping, so she said it has been used to naturally induce some contractions, but she said it also triggers your digestive system to clean out, so she said take one spoonful, wait a few hours, then try another spoonful.
That's probably really good advice. I asked my midwife about it too and she said to stay away from it for now. They suggest sex and a lot of walking to prepare my body naturally, but I'm ok for now just letting the baby decide when he's ready to be born. Week 40 now!
How long could it take to get to your birthing centre if there was rush hour traffic? We went for an appointment to ours in rush hour and it took 75 mins....!
I guess it could take as long as an hour to get over there during rush hour or more if there's a car accident but usually it's about 30 minutes during the day. And if we go late at night it'll be really quick.
Thank you, I really can't wait to meet my son and I'm just trying to keep up faith that he chose us as his parents and we're the perfect match for him. The Castor Oil sounds awful! I didn't realize it was something you drank and now I hear it makes you vomit and have diarrhea...ugh. I think I'll leave that for a definite last resort.
Yes, it sounds like your family is really overwhelming you with phone calls and that the emails are getting out of control. My family isn't so bad, it's mostly when I'm out in public and I get the big eye popping and a 'Wow!' when people look at me. It's just too weird.
I do think a lot of pressure is put on the "first sight" and how we're told we'll feel an overwhelming bond to our babies immediately. No matter the gender I'm convinced it takes time to fully feel that connection..it keeps growing and growing! I was worried about bonding with a boy during my last pregnancy too, but it all came quite natural. Now that we're having a girl I'm worried all over again about bonding with a girl!!! I wish you all the best during your final days!
Thank you and you're right. My friend had a little girl and just a few hours after her birth was still looking at her like she couldn't quite believe that it was all real, that she would get to take this little baby girl home with her. She seemed in a complete daze and you could tell she kept expecting someone to walk in and say, 'just kidding, it was all a dream and now you can't have her'. And you should see them now, she's so in love with her little girl it's the cutest thing.
As for bonding, it can be hard and not instant regardless of which gender. I struggled a little with my first, many people don't talk about that part of parenthood. There are many norms but most talked about are the fairy tale happy ones. I did get that bond with my first it just wasn't instant like people always say :)
My children bring me joy and purpose, they are the most precious things and I'm thankful everyday that they are here :)
My mother was able to come for both births, thanks to air miles :) I'm sorry that your mom can't be there. I hope you have other women around you that will give you comfort.
Thank you. My midwives will be there to support us through the entire process and possibly my girlfriend as well. I'm sure it will be just fine, I don't want to have too many people around.
Yes, he sent me the electrolyte powder but I haven't tried it yet. He sent a lot so I'm good to go for awhile! The Castor Oil is sounding less and less appealing the more I hear. Yuck! Yep, I'm originally from Alaska but haven't lived there since I graduated high school. Don't miss it much but do miss my family of course.
I have really bad hip pains too when I sleep. Tossing and turning all night. Also sometimes I feel like I'm having a contraction in the middle of the night until I get up to go pee. I'm gonna make a video tonight and I'll talk about the other stuff i.e. castor oil and getting checked.
I have HORRIBLE hip pains at night from sleeping on my sides. I keep 2 pillows between my knees. It helps a bit but as I get further along it seems to help less and less. So I DEFINATELY feel your pain! :)
Well I'm sorry you're in pain but it's good to know that this is normal. And last night I started getting nasty pain in my right knee as well that took hours to go away after I woke up. So ready to not be pregnant anymore! :)

Wow neat that you got contacted through youtube by the research company!
I think Stroller Strides is an awesome idea as well, wish I had done that maybe then I would of lost the extra baby weight from my first...lol
I tried Castor oil with my first pregnancy but only took a little so I wouldn't be stuck on the toilet and plus it was hard to drink!!
Intercourse on the other hand does work, but was told it has to be GOOD, not just any old sex..lol.
Alaska hey!? My family is in NT Canada :(
