Having watched your other videos on her new album,i have to say that i love your work.I will not post a comment on every single one of them, but still...Well,i have heard various opinions on her music and it is either loved or disliked.I haven't heard anyone saying ''Meh,it is ok'' or ''It is so-so''.I personally love her music and i find this album very nice.If nothing else,it is quite relaxing and it is pure psychedelia if listened to while traveling through rainy landscapes..Cheers friend.
@vibesinthesky You can't argue the point about the aspect ratio being wrong. The fact is the picture is squashed in some of the clips. 300 and Atonement to name just two. The aspect ratio for 300 should be 2.11:1 and Atonement's aspect ratio should be 1.85:1 but here they look the same (squashed from the side, tall skinny people). Some people don't notice these things. If you look at a circle in the wrong aspect ratio it's not a circle.
@paulosham1 Oh, just one final word on this from me ... when I make videos I try to portray the emotion of the song and that's what I tried to do here ... the fact that some of the aspect ratios might be technically incorrect in some of the clips doesn't matter one jot to me, or I suspect to many of the other viewers .... thanks for pointing it out anyway and I agree with you that some (most) "people don't notice these things" .... stay happy!
nice work vibes; your vids and the snow in london are helping me adjust to this album (the only kate album i have not purchased). however, i just cannot like this track. elton simply carries too much gag-inducing baggage for me, and i cannot obliterate the image of his smug disney face and hissy fits. (similarly, i've never been able to take the artist on Aerial seriously and not half expect him to say "Can you tell what it is yet?")
Oh Vibes, this is one of the tracks I like least, but I enjoyed watching your video without benefit of sound! So much abandoned smooching and emoting ..... I'd have happily gone off to die gloriously at the Hot Gates if anyone thought me worthy of such an intense farewell!
It's interesting to see how Kate can still elicit such responses. That's art, which is a wonderful thing. Personally speaking, I loved your video...and your interpretation of a beautiful song through some pretty powerful images. Thank you.
@Chrystala67 Yes, you're right, but if you did an analysis of all the comments I've had so far, you'd find there's about 95% absolutely love this song (and the album), so I think Kate's "art" has elicited some really positive responses this time around, including yours of course! Thanks for watching.
Love the video, love Kate and everything she does. But as ever it does take several plays of her new work to get under the skin of her music. Hated 'The Dreaming' when it was first released but grew to love it when she went off in new directions and produced herself.
@lillywhite23 I'm the opposite ... I loved 50WFS (and The Dreaming) from the very first hearing ... I've pegged them as Kate "classics" alongside Hounds, Aerial, Never For Ever and Director's Cut, with The Kick, Lionheart, Sensual & Red Shoes following on close behind!
All of Kate's work are classics I love 50WFS now (and the Dreaming) Directors Cut was great from first hearing. Aerial is an album I play (Esp Sky of Honey) to soothe after a long day really hits the spot!!
Well this is somewhat different of what she made in the 80s, more intimate, there is some romantic power in this one, most of the album as something of a following of Aerial, I like it as a cross alternativ between chamber music and pop, Kate can do everything she wants, even if I can not agree with everything, but (her) music is also a matter of moods and moments.
Unrequited Love in both partners is a great and rare feat. They never will be together and if they we're that love might not work so well. Clouds Beyond may not understand it at all because He can only see within. This could be a source of shallow self loathing projected like wrath against others he views as somehow imperfect. Like a person of normal not his ideal weight. Clouds Beyond you can't tell the forest from the trees and should not really attempt to be a music critic.
oh cloudsbeyond...you are the reason the music industry is in the dumps...a women's looks are not important...the fact that kate has the balls to be orif\gianl to just go with what she feels is true genius...she does it for her love of the art and those that trully love her understand this.
its kate and elton and elton sounds phenomenal...i don't know what more to say but kate...may you continue on in your genius for many more years to come.
In musical technical terms this song is U.S. = UTTER SHI-ITE! 50 Words album is pretentios drivel, not a single great track on it. Kate should have given up years ago, her best work is far behind her; sure their are fans who woud buy anything she does. Now 5 stone+ overweight hence not doing any promo TV work for last 3 albums - just give it up Kate pleaseeeeee! Nobody wants to remember a very overweight star releasing crap lie D.Cut, 50 words etc.
@CloudsBeyond@thePROTO1type Hi CloudsBeyond I've allowed your comments in te interests of free speech, but please what has Kate's weight got to do with her musical output .... that kind of comment is totally low and uncalled for ... hang your head in shame!
As for the quality of the musical output, what musical "technical terms" is Kate failing on - you some sort of expert?
BTW I am not a fan who likes everything Kate does because it's Kate, but I love this 'cos it's good imho!
@vibesinthesky if Kate Bush wasn't very overweight, she might appear in more of her own videos thesedays, she might do more TV appearances = give more to the fans.No more of her dancing due to the weight either. As opposed to release a CD, do a few newspaper or radio interviews, then little else.50 Words & D. Cut were very very poor albums, easily the weakest 2 of her career - sadly her fans that would hail her tapping a triangle singing 'my name is Kate tra la la' (repeated) as a masterpiece.
@CloudsBeyond What is your fixation on her weight, how are you so sure she is overweight? it hardly seems to matter does it? anyway she certainly didn't look overweight in the king of the mountain video and from reading interviewith her she seems a very healthy person. this song and album are amazing and you should know better than to pick on an artist with a fanbase as loyal as Kate bush's!
@vibesinthesky thats it some people have no imagination her music a catalyst for you're minde to drift and not to containd by passing trends, good work on this video
@CloudsBeyond Your comment is "U.S." If you want to criticize music criticize the composition, production, or what not. What the hell does her weight has to do with anything.I love the album but do I think its her best.....no. BUT her talent is something that'll never die. Honestly I'd rather be pretentious than be a shallow ass who can't spell.
@CloudsBeyond ... so sad you can't really ge it and then only comment on musical quality based on your perceived someone's physical attribute... I hope you can grow up else I pity you
@CloudsBeyond hahahaha you spelled pretentious wrong as well as would. In addition to that you used the incorrect form of there (you used their).
But all hilarity in your complete inability to spell and use grammar properly, i disagree with your statement one hundred percent. This song in particular is the reason i actually started listening to her, and remains my favorite song she sings.
So, opinion duly noted, duly marked upon, and duly refuted by the common majority of everyone in view
@CloudsBeyond .. the beauty is in little things, in the shadows, in deep fields... not a single great track on it: what a rude and teenage consideration!! But it's true, the last 50 words album is not for everyone; it's for adult ears (and hearts).
@CloudsBeyond Are you actually serious?! wow... Just because her last few albums arn't the same kind of music she made before doesn't mean it's any less good. I'm 22 and i happen to think "Aerial" and "50 words for snow" are two of her best albums, in my top 4 with "The Dreaming" and "Hounds of love".
And as for Kate's weight, she isn't fat at all she's normal weight for her age and she still looks beautiful, her music sells because it's good, she doesn't promote because she doesn't need too.
@CloudsBeyond "Hey Clouds Beyond, Come Here Often Big Boy?" wtf exactly Third Base? Off Base More Like It - C U in the funny papers Mz. Havisham it's Time for my close up Mr. DeVille!!!" Stay well CloudsBeyond Oh let the Sunshine spot your heart today and live a joy!

@CloudsBeyond I expect she knows the difference between their and there, unlike you. You are barely literate. Kate has more talent in her little finger than you'll ever have, Ignoramus!
@orthocerus I vet comments, but in the interests of free speech and people's musical tastes differing, I tend to allow most stuff through unless there's abusive language used. Hello to you too, glad you're enjoying my videos.
God, Kate... You've become so boring... I'm disappointed. I fell asleep while listening to your album, right from he second track on I think... How about trying to compose one last REAL tune, fancy ?... I feel sad. You've let me down.
@meekintheweb Oh MeeK, I didn't realise Kate's personal mission was not to let you down! But think of it this way, you are one of the (very) few people I've come across so far who are disappointed (and bored?) by the album .... everyone else, including myself, seems to love it!
I personally think it's a Kate classic, alongside the others. Anyway, don't feel sad, perhaps your ears will suddenly become attuned to this wonderful music and lyrics, and all will be well in your world!
Thanks for your careful work on this video, some very interesting choices ("The Bostonians"!). LIke some others, I was also on the fence about Elton John on this song. His delivery is almost more reminiscent of David Bowie, which makes me wish it had been Bowie instead. Still, I'm liking it more each time and I'm sure Kate Bush chose him specially for this.
@DarkeningSkies1 I rather enjoyed Elton's performance but I have to agree that Peter would have been, both, an obvious and historical choice. But it's not to say he wasn't asked and he was busy working on his orchestral pieces that has had him tied up for a few years now.
@jtmichaelson@darkeningskies1 I don't know if either of you heard any of the radio interviews with Kate but basically she said that she wrote the song as a long term fan of Elton John specifically with him in mind, so I don't think Peter was considered or asked.
Interestingly, I was of the opinion when I first heard about the "duet", not being a big Elton fan myself, that it may be disastrous, but as soon as I heard it I was blown away because, imo, he absolutely nailed it!
@vibesinthesky I have been an Elton fan since my childhood (first album brought home by my brother was Honky Chateau in 1972) I enjoyed and appreciated the duet. I did not hear (or read) the interview until you replied. I really don't think the song would have worked any other way. Elton did a fine job on it and I was amazed to see how well their voices worked together. I am, however, waiting hopefully for a Pete and Kate reunion seeing how they have a fantastic history together.
@jtmichaelson Oh I wasn't saying I don't like the duet, I love it, and the rest of the album of course! I was just pointing out that that the song was written for Elton, and because I'm not his biggest fan, unlike you, how very pleasantly surprised I was at how beautifully he'd sung it!
My favorite of the album, its so haunting, i just can feel the cold and smells of these cities, and specially of NY, its a romantic song in a very mature way.
This video is absolutely beautiful. It's a risk putting images to such an evocative song, with such powerful and visual lyrics - but you've pulled it off beautifully. Thank you. And - yes - that shot of the twin towers, particularly in the context of the song, is powerful to say the least.
particularly loved this one, especially the reference to 'brief encounter' one of my favs, i think you must read my mind... wonderful way to enjoy Kate's music... Brief Encounter was on the other day and it still moves me in the same way the last clip of Bridges of Maddison County.. have you ever used it in one of your videos? The last scene in the rain is so powerful... thanks for this lovely video.
this is such a wonderful compliment to the song! you used some great clips--the dissolve from the man in the train to the Towers ...perfect! I cannot stop listening to the album, keep finding/hearing something new each time. LOVE IT!!! thanks for another superb video!
Probably the most unconventional love song ever, especialy the construction of melody. The idea of 2 lovers that are in love in many lives through thousands of years and are unable to be together is at same time very original and very sad. I'm big Elton fan and it's really interesting to hear his vocal in something slightly different. Great duet!
Also, video is really great. Thanks for making it.
The video is good, but the song doesn't appeal to me. It is somehow not "coherent". This pop melodic line doesn't go well with the "aerial" background and the theme of this song. The rest of the album 50 WFS is much better.
@WOW1529 Thank you for liking the video ... it's a shame you don't like the song, I love it ... but then again, that's why we've all got different tastes ... thanks for watching!
@WOW1529 i think that is one of the best track of 50 , this not aerial..that was about light night and day, this anther journey another journey.the text is amazing the two that meet but go then meet again then away,..like snowflakes floating in the sky......hope kate will work again, i can wait 20 years because i imagine what this woman can do she comfort me since 1986. but everyone has got they taste i dont wanna criticize yours!!! 50 word is sooooooomore....bye.david.;)
@MrDaveboy73 ...but I do like the lyrics, they do touch my heart. What I don't like is the melodic line. Well, I have such an immense respect for Kate Bush's work (some of her albums are my favourites) that it doesn't really matter if I like this particular song or not. I don't have an iota of her talent so I guess it's inappropriate for me to criticize. I love The Ninth Wave, Aerial CD2 and much much more... and I miss a bit those enchanting melodies from the first albums...
great work!its astonishing that the most emotional moment shows not two lovers of flesh and bone but two buildings of steel and stone! At least in my mind!
@spheresector I tried to create many emotional moments in this video, but I rather hoped someone, somewhere would 'get' the emotional impact of the two buildings, and you did ... so thank you!
great work!its astonishing that the most emotional moment shows not two lovers of flesh and bone but two buildings of steel and stone! At least in my mind!
This is an extremely emotional song and you have added visuals that make it doubly so, something I would have thought impossible, but you have done it. You really have created a wonderful piece of work for this song :))
@snammie2Peek-A-Boo, Snammie:)*:), I believe "Kate"& Vibesinthesky have secretly all along been working together in a telepathic way that no one!!!!! is aware of, and they have an unbreakable contract*****that is the way "Kate" is, she loves her Privacy&Surprizzzing people :):):)***:):):) Blessings To ALL Sempre&Forever;););)***;););)
what can i say mate? absolutely stunning video for this amazing track from her wonderful new album. your video really ads dimension to the song. well done mate.
this is my favourite from the new album;theres bits of "aerial"-cd2 thrown in there also.amazing elton john vocal. how were you able to upload this so soon after release of album? great vid by the way.
Breathtaking***** "Snowed In At Wheeler Street" is one of my favorite songs:):):)***:):):) The video is so incredible, like watching a mini oscar award winning movie that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time in a trance of tranquility, I love it very much it's a masterpiece to say the very least*****Blessings Sempre&Forever,Salute Ciao;)*:)
Such a beautiful song and really lovely video, thanks for taking so much trouble to put it together.

Jolar70 2 months ago
@Jolar70 Actually, I would have thought Peter Gabriel would have been ideal given their musical history...
DarkeningSkies1 2 months ago
@DarkeningSkies1 I rather enjoyed Elton's performance but I have to agree that Peter would have been, both, an obvious and historical choice. But it's not to say he wasn't asked and he was busy working on his orchestral pieces that has had him tied up for a few years now.
jtmichaelson 1 month ago
@jtmichaelson @darkeningskies1 I don't know if either of you heard any of the radio interviews with Kate but basically she said that she wrote the song as a long term fan of Elton John specifically with him in mind, so I don't think Peter was considered or asked.
Interestingly, I was of the opinion when I first heard about the "duet", not being a big Elton fan myself, that it may be disastrous, but as soon as I heard it I was blown away because, imo, he absolutely nailed it!
vibesinthesky 1 month ago
@vibesinthesky I have been an Elton fan since my childhood (first album brought home by my brother was Honky Chateau in 1972) I enjoyed and appreciated the duet. I did not hear (or read) the interview until you replied. I really don't think the song would have worked any other way. Elton did a fine job on it and I was amazed to see how well their voices worked together. I am, however, waiting hopefully for a Pete and Kate reunion seeing how they have a fantastic history together.
jtmichaelson 1 month ago
@jtmichaelson Oh I wasn't saying I don't like the duet, I love it, and the rest of the album of course! I was just pointing out that that the song was written for Elton, and because I'm not his biggest fan, unlike you, how very pleasantly surprised I was at how beautifully he'd sung it!

My favorite of the album, its so haunting, i just can feel the cold and smells of these cities, and specially of NY, its a romantic song in a very mature way.

The song is absolutely amazing. So as the whole album - I cannot think of anyone like Kate Bush. What ideas and imagination she has.
boni1982 2 months ago

50zepher 2 months ago
Probably the most unconventional love song ever, especialy the construction of melody. The idea of 2 lovers that are in love in many lives through thousands of years and are unable to be together is at same time very original and very sad. I'm big Elton fan and it's really interesting to hear his vocal in something slightly different. Great duet!
Also, video is really great. Thanks for making it.

amazing!! song and video.and the album is the best of the year.
MrDaveboy73 2 months ago
The video is good, but the song doesn't appeal to me. It is somehow not "coherent". This pop melodic line doesn't go well with the "aerial" background and the theme of this song. The rest of the album 50 WFS is much better.

@arabiansanchez I too find the synth part quite fitting here....well done...
07087joenj 2 months ago
@WOW1529 i think that is one of the best track of 50 , this not aerial..that was about light night and day, this anther journey another journey.the text is amazing the two that meet but go then meet again then away,..like snowflakes floating in the sky......hope kate will work again, i can wait 20 years because i imagine what this woman can do she comfort me since 1986. but everyone has got they taste i dont wanna criticize yours!!! 50 word is sooooooomore....bye.david.;)
MrDaveboy73 2 months ago
@MrDaveboy73 ...but I do like the lyrics, they do touch my heart. What I don't like is the melodic line. Well, I have such an immense respect for Kate Bush's work (some of her albums are my favourites) that it doesn't really matter if I like this particular song or not. I don't have an iota of her talent so I guess it's inappropriate for me to criticize. I love The Ninth Wave, Aerial CD2 and much much more... and I miss a bit those enchanting melodies from the first albums...
WOW1529 2 months ago
@WOW1529 well if you lived in 1915 you would know *_*
markhodgson600 2 months ago
@WOW1529 I agree with this comment. The synth backing is all wrong for the timeless theme of the song.
