YES, it's real, YES, the ammo counter works. I know, I have shot it multiple times, my father Richard Lage made it. It's a prototype that will not go into production and he will not sell the one he did make. :) YES, he knows that it is not exactly like the one from the movie. Cute...but it is, in fact, a toy. I mean for close range circumstances the 9mm ammunition with a 50 round capacity will be useful...but if you take the actual prey from the movie into consideration the cartridge would be far from adequate. The shotgun beneath is also a pretty slick in terms of being a toy, but other than wounding a target it's going to be useless in even self-defense standards.

I find it sad how a few have gotten overly butthurt at prior mentions to this gun's toy status.

Guys, this isn't all that special. It's just a Tommygun glued to half of a shotgun, with a green plastic shell around it. The functional ammo counter is probably the hardest thing to implement correctly.

I believe a pulse rifle would be some sort of electrical/plasma, laser, or electromagnetic weapon. I don't think anything using current munitions would be in that category. I think sound would be a byproduct not the method of destruction, like you get when a rail gun goes off.

Well there is one replica you can buy, don't know the sites to go to get it but it's a $180 replica pulse rifle from the film which has built in sound effects (you'll spend much more on batteries every so often) that makes that loud sound effect when you fire it. real life sound effects are not as cool as the films. for example look at movie sex scenes lol and then look at sex in real life. theres no vagina farting in films
