Thank you for making these videos and doing your part to help get Mark's account re-instated. You are a hero! And you even wear a mask like a super hero!
Oops! Sorry gurutruth, I accidentally hit the remove button to your other comment instead of reply! Oops! In any case, I wanted to say thank you for the nice comment. I learned a lot about the DMCA because I was suspended for four months because of a false DMCA. I'm glad that my experience has given me the knowledge to help Mark. Mark is a good man who has an important message. The more people who can hear his voice, the better.
Thanks, Youtube can change their rules at the drop of a hat. They are the gods of this site and they can make any decision they want, no matter how capricious and arbitrary it may be. There are no checks and balances. But they do pay for the server, so this is another form of the Golden Rule. He with the gold, rules.
The other factor is that YouTube has changed their own rules.
Since their OWN rules are muting for two weeks now, why not just count Mark's two weeks gone and put him back on? They can back down on the fact that Mark did not receive the original notices.
I love your disclaimers. All Hail The EFF! They are the preeminent ass kickers when it comes to freedom of expression on the Net. Everyone interested in these issues should have their site bookmarked.
I suppose the scilons could have a plant at Viacom. They have many people in entertainment. The timing was curious. Scilons took credit right before it happened.
I love the idea about deposing the person at Viacom who sent the DMCA notice, and deposing Youtube to find out who filed the complaint, and whether that person was affiliated with Scientology. It's brilliant.
Isn't there a way that mark can BUY a distribution license of some kind for the individual clips? If it's anything less than five grand, Anon will likely be able to foot the bill. With so MANY of us, it'd be loose change for each.
in other words, did the SOTU mean anything?

Agreed.
YT changed their rules due to public pressure, however.
Once a public institution sets a "policy" and "procedure" they are subject to public exposure if they do not *follow* those rules.
YouTube does not have accountable "procedure" to follow their policy. They usually send form emails etc. and do not personally answer anything.
Consequently, the question becomes, "What is the most effective pressure to apply ensuring that YouTube will follow their own policies."

Wow, you are a genius.
If you aren't a lawyer, you should be.
