Hahahahahaha I've been through all this twice. I'm glad you left out the submission to editors/agents part - that would have been a horror movie too gory for YouTube. You pretty much nailed the creative process. The lost in the woods feeling of editing a first draft is exactly it.
I keep telling myself that if I made it through one novel I ought to be able to make it through another, but I'm stuck on stage three >_< It doesn’t help that I have to squeeze it in between work and wedding planning.

Like good writing this one needs editing. The content is good but story runs long. Cut by 2/3rds and repost. Apply the rule of three: Three shots of an action (yawning, fingers typing, no coffee, etc) and move on.
I laughed so hard at Stage Five. Because it's true!
