i'll respectfully disagree with saban here in a way. lets say a qb is pressured and is able to escape a sack and throw the ball away... it's 2nd and 10. but it he gets sacked for a 7 yard loss it's now 2nd and 17. Sacks can change the game around.

I think the point is Saban is going for is that sacks as a metric of pressure is deceiving. A team could attempt to pass 40 times but 5 mistakes in blocking assignments lead to 5 sacks but the rest of the night they get the defense blocked. The NFL single-game sack record by Derrick Thomas came when the Chiefs lost; the single-season record by Strahan came for a NYG team that didn't make the playoffs. Pressure on the QB is important...it leads to quick throws and takes away vertical passing.
