WOW! i love music but very few songs give me a chill to here them. This song does this to me on the chorus. Bring back this kinda music. Last great vocal group? Boyz II Men. Not to take away from other artists. But B2M had that special something not heard from since this long gone era. Keep music's history alive especially this kind. TY for the post :)
You're the one that I've been waiting for forever...beautiful song..It will always stand the test of time...thank you for a wonderful song..brings back memories..*smiles*
What is so special about this and all the other music of the era is not only the beautiful vocals but also the entire orchestration of horns and strings. I don't know if the R&B artists & writers of today can duplicate it. Damn, this is just beautiful music.
I'm 66 years old and my children range in age from 34-40 and they along with me love this group even though they were raised with disco and all the stuff that followed. Just goes to show you that good music can connect generations!
When the Stylistics come to your town, you've GOT to see them. My husband and I saw them in Rochester NY. It took us back to a time when not only couples cared about each other, but families were families and neighborhoods were safe, we looked out for each other then... This song touches your heart like none other
Violent crime is way lower now and there is some great music being made now, too. Nobody plays the terrible old music...just the good stuff like this.
As Carly Simon said..."These are the good ole days"

One of the greatest jams of all time. My Dad, brother and I would sing this. Those were fun days. The young folks have a right to express their music. There is good rap and some really great hip hop stuff out there. The early gangsta rap glorified the "Ghetto/Gangsta" life and lifestyle, along with MTV, BET and tremendous marketing of the record labels...They will see as they get older that real life is how YOU live it not what you see in the video...
TheBod420 LOL, Buh, Eyee Yo I Still Like This Song; My Dad Used To Listen To It. Ahaa. Dawg, Dont Be Trippin. If U Dont Like It Then You Dont LIke It. Dont Be All Up And Baggin On Other People Who Do
I was 14 years old when this song became my first real girlfriend's theme song to me she said. We "NOW" have a 35 year son and a 14 year old granddaughter.
This was back when Gentlemen Had respect for Lovely Ladies, Who in turn had total respect and dignity for themselves. There are still plenty of ladies and gentlemen out there today, its just unfortunately not main stream. Its all gold grills and ho's. I wish they still had music with real instrumentation in it. I miss the sound of the brass band in the background.
Oh the memories. I first made out to this song when I was 15. We played it over and over. I thought is was the best song ever and I was with a wonderfull girl. Oh to go back again. AH
to this day, I still get tears for the love lost when I hear this song. How I would go back to the 70"s in a blink of an eye, Best years of my life and the best music ever made. Thanks for the memories
my favorite lyrics in this song is "candyland appears each time you smile" and "betcha by golly wow". i wish a boy would come up to me saying that. that would make my day :)
@mdt6176 Yeah but when guys do say things like this to women and express their true feelings, they get called soft. Women don't want gentlemen anymore, they want the thugs the gangstas and the d-boys who insult them, lie to them, hurt them and disrespect them.... Women say they want a good man, but they don't want a good man...
@AGLegend01 I do believe you are generalizing and confusing 'real' women with the current, upcoming generation. 'REAL' women do not find men who express their feelings... soft. Us 'real' women consider those kind of guys 'real' men. I wish the young women of today would wake up and see what they are truly missing. I have three sons(teenagers and one 23 yr old) and I brought them up to respect women. If ever see or hear of them disrespecting a woman... there will be hell to pay with MAMA!
@AGLegend01 I will have to say that when girls are young what you said is true. The "cool" dudes are good looking heart breakers. Later on after we've had enough of that we learn that we'd much rather have a more average looking guy who will be soft and caring. At least that is the way it worked for me.
I am not spam so stop flagging me as if I am, if u check out my page you'll see that. Check out my cover song with Bruno Mars that I did awhile back in 2005. It's a remake of this song, we only did 2 verses and it was acoustic. Spread the word n check out my page when y'all can, God bless.
They to me are one of the greatest groups ever in the history of music. The sound of Philadelphia and the Motown sound of Detroit Michigan produce probably the greatest collection of groups and single acts the world has ever known. The 60's & 70s produced in my opinion the greatest music artist ever in the history of Rock & Roll.
I love this song because in 1999 my youngest daughter was born and I used to play the cover song of Betcha By Golly Wow by Prince but, I still love the original.
The Stylistics are one of the greatest vocal groups of all time. While some groups of the 70's were just stumbling upon arrangements by chance, these guys were painstakingly and masterfully blending sophisticated harmonies and intricate orchestrations together to make music on par with the classics of classical music. The Stylistics, the Delphonics, Blue Magic and music producer Thom Bell are all manufacturers and architects of this classy sophisticated soul.
I am a rock n roller, but in 72 I played in a horn band with a chick singer and we played this song and style of music. I love it! One of the greatest singers.
I put many a mile on a '64 Chevy Impala while listening to the Stylistics. When I was in high school (small town, pop. 14,000 in East TX), you were SOMEBODY if you were cruising with Motown blaring from your vehicle.
@lisa3754 .....Wow...I was cruisin the gut in college, in a 63 Impala SS...Thanks for the memories, of warm summer nights...my girl next to me, and this beautiful song coming out of my Muncie 8-track... I lived in Pendleton, Or... (Pop. 15,000) and was the home of the world famous "Pendleton Round Up"..And I had "Motown" blaring too...Of course in the early 70's we could buy "bootleg" 8-tracks @ places like "Rebels" and every little gas station in town sold em...RickzzSands...AKA Mr. Las Vegas
I'm 25 years old and I would Rather listen to this instead of that New School Satanic B.S on the T.V AND RADIO! I love Old school Music! 70's, 80's, and 90's music!
Between Russell Thompkins, Eddie Kendricks, or Phillip Bailey I don't know who has the smoothest falsetto. I can't choose so I am just going to continue to listen and love all three of them.
Is it weird that I'm 18 and loving this kind of music and hates everything about this punk ass newschool shit? Anyway, it's the summertime, and I grew up on this. When I was real little, my dad had all the 80s r&b, this was in 1994, and he had the 70s r&b cassette tapes and I listened to it so much I just love it to the core.
1970...wow... ten or eleven years old...seventh grade, dancing at the lunch time 'sock hops' in middle school... to this song... with a girl about six inches taller than me.
Precious memories of being young. I'm sure glad I grew up in the years I did, we had the best music of all...the late 60's and early 70's...ahh...what ballads and R&B we had!
Fuck you stupid ass bitches that who don't like this song your mother didn't have any taste in music so get off our dicks and no better yet do us a favor and DIE....
The70's..... such a beautiful time for black culture & music.....Women were respected, social commentary, the message was love, Good Times, What's Happening, The Jeffersons, Flip Wilson, Sanford and Son, Naturals were cut tight, Soul Train Saturday Mornings, J5, Muhammad Ali, SOUL Brotha, Right on!!!....Shaft, Foxy Brown, Super Fly, Ice Cream truck in the hood, Afro pick with the Black Power salute on the end....BLACK WAS BEAUTIFUL!!....Lets get it back!! Compton CA 136th & Wilmington Ave!!
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
This was back when music to compliment a girl was used with words like "Betcha By Golly Wow" and "There's A Spark Of Magic In Your Eyes." Now we have "Damn, you a sexy b***h."
I can't believe I just readh the blog from TFS2888 above because we are using this for our First Dance in one month!!! - wow - Great minds think alike!
ahhhh rrrr, once upon a time fell hard in love to this song, absolutely swept away other worldly in love as I attached my love to this simple sweet song.
When I was 17 years old I met the love of my life but I cheated on her as many stupid young guys do and I lost her, the hurt stayed for many years for the love of my life , I went to our 45th class reunion and there she was the first class reunion I ever saw her at beautiful as ever my heart was pounding so fast I didn't know what to do, I am an old man now but she is in my arms again and I will never let her go, oh and we got married I am a very lucky and blessed man to be given a 2nd chance.

14,000 in East TX), you were SOMEBODY if you were cruising with Motown blaring from your vehicle.
lisa3754 7 months ago 2
Las Vegas

Thanks!
