Back in the early 90's I got a strain of the Asian Flu. I was so sick I thought for sure I was going to die. I literally could not move. A lot of the people who died were people who lived either alone or with small children who were unable to help them. It was sad.

A vaccine technically isn't a cure. It's a preventative measure. Once you have the flu the only thing you can take to help you get better is the anti-viral medicine which we have (at least in the US not sure about Mexico).

It's a virus that normally just spreads between swines etc. but this virus is not normal. Normally you can just get infected by for example pig to human, but this virus had mutated and now its spreading between human to human. Don't be worry guys, there is medicine that cures this shit. Here in Sweden it's called "Tamiflu" and it helps. The problem is that not everyone can get the medicine, for instance in Mexico.

For decades health care was not a priority, and it still isn't. Most Americans cannot afford health insurance. I'm in perfect health, on no prescriptions & I pay close to $600 a MONTH just to have INDIVIDUAL health insurance (I'm 49 years old). This is beyond what most people can afford. This means when people get swine flu-they will NOT go to the doctor because a walk in clinic charges a few hundred dollars with no tests done. People will spread the joy around-and stay home. Infecting others.

I'm not scared about it at all. They even said it doesn't affect the pork supply (not that I eat much of it anyway), and it's just minor flu symptoms. There haven't been any deaths in our entire country, and the infected individuals are already getting better.
It's not SARS or West Nile Virus or anthrax.

But the most recent update has it up to 26 cases with 7 deaths, in Mexico.

I think swine may be genetically too similar to people to be safe. The closer animals are in genetic similarity, the more likely it is for there to be species-jumping illnesses between them and us.
At the very least they need to close the factory farms.

Back in the early 90's I got a strain of the Asian Flu. I was so sick I thought for sure I was going to die. I literally could not move. A lot of the people who died were people who lived either alone or with small children who were unable to help them. It was sad.

Well why wouldnt people be concerned, a cure wont come within days or weeks, its gonna take months and who knows how many people will have been affected or how many will have died by then...i know im worried cause i live in mexico (although no reports of this flu in my state) and the majority of my family does as well...no-one knows who exactly has it until it becomes obvious so anyone can get it

A vaccine technically isn't a cure. It's a preventative measure. Once you have the flu the only thing you can take to help you get better is the anti-viral medicine which we have (at least in the US not sure about Mexico).

Probably because of stuff like the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic that killed about 50 million people in which they believe that "Swine flu" was the most likely culprit. Also, Swine flu is most likely a mutation of bird flu which has also killed a lot of people. Doesn't mean it's time to panic but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on
