An American car company make an EV. That is oxymoron. America is one of the biggest backers of oil. Back in he 90's there was an EV and the oil companies made sure it never went into mass production. Why are they not stopping this one?

First the car drives 25 - 50 miles on battery alone. After that an onboard gas generator will generator power for the next 300+ miles until you can recharge or refuel. Where people listening to the video? Second GM has being testing Fuel Cell vehicles (~100) for years "Project Driveway" probably more than Honda and Toyota combined. The fuel cell is the size of a 4 cylinder engine. I wonder what car GM has that is electric and has room for a 4 cylinder electric generator - Volt?

Hydrogen fuel vehicles are coming and in the mean time volts are gonna be clammering for attention but its obviously gonna be a fail and i give this car about 3 yrs before it get the hook. Honda is prepared for the hydrogen era....california, washington, orgegon and BC are going on the hyrogen grid and the infastructure is being put into place. this electric bs is not even practical for most states.

The car is way too expensive (even with the govt subsidies, which is even more ridiculous) for its capabilities. Taxpayers are going to pay for a select few who are dumb enough to pay for a car that drives 25-50 miles on a single charge. And, I haven't heard much about how it's going to perform in the middle of winter in, say, Green Bay, Wisconsin or Alaska! How's the battery going to handle the cold? Most people probably would end up buying its gasoline only brother, Cruze.

its a hybrid you fools. Full tank and charge will get you close to 400 miles. With normal driving its the equivalent of 72 MPG taking into consideration the electrical energy used. Only using electricity you get the equivalent of 105mpg based on the calculation that a gallon of gas contains 33.7 kW-hr of energy. Gasoline engine gets 40mpg. You average them together with reasonable cycling between 2 engines and you get 72mpg. People hate this car for reasons that dont exist.

@Wonderbread1023 When this car was first appeared it was an electric car but when it was advertised on tv they changed it to a hybrid. Now they went back to electric for some reason. Car companies dont want electric cars because they make less money for them; since their is no combustion chamber, the engine doesnt get warn out as often meaning fewer repairs. So most likely they would make this a hybrid again, unless we already ran out of fossil fuel.
